Bill,

I originally registered as a Republican. I'm not 'allowed' to discuss this issue at family gatherings. My favorite cousin and her husband, a former Marine Corps general, whom I like very much, are very staunch Republicans. We just agree to disagree.

Hi all,

Kevin,
I'm truly, truly sorry about Nicky. I know how quickly we can get attached to our pets.

And to Kevin, Elmer, Bill, all the Obama supporters out there:
I have to make a confession. I, too, have gone over to "the dark side" (in the words of my family). I have switched political alliances from the Republican party to the Democrats. My conscience made me do it. Remember, I come from a long line of GOP capitalists, so all of this (besides my long-held hippie liberal standpoint) has been very difficult for my family to deal with. It took a long time for me "to come out of the closet" but, despite heated arguments with my brother, I feel very liberated (pardon the pun).
Elmer, I too, was a Hilary supporter but have made the switch to Obama. As Hilary's campaign waned on, I was growing more and more dissatisfied with her political platform and the manner in which she was handling the issues with Obama.

And Carol,
Come to yoga class with me and I will get you started on generating a second income :). The poses aren't that difficult once you let go of the ego, and as Elmer said, the heat makes all things possible when the muscles and ligaments warm up and stretch out.

Oh, and I went to my first Ray (oops, I mean Jay) and the Americans concert with Ray in the band last Sunday up in Saugerties, NY, and had a total blast. I worked the merchandise table all day so I had something to do. The majority of the crowd was over 60 - they threw their Depends up on stage instead of their bras, so I guess I don't have to worry too much about groupies when Ray goes on the road - he leaves tomorrow for Chicago. But seriously, the crowd was totally into the tunes and people were really enjoying themselves, singing the songs, clapping along, dancing...it was a great day!

Love you all,
Marianne

Warning warning...the conversation has turned to politics. You know this is a match in a haystack. Be advised. be advised. Move on Will Robinson. Talk about gardening instead.
By the way, I'm just kidding! Though I will say that in my house, when the extended family gathers, we are not allowed to talk about money, politics or dead relatives as an argument always ensues. My mother has been banned from discussing her favorite topic which I have dubbed "fatal thoughts." This usually involves some comments regarding her eventual death (She's not sick thank goodness) or some horrifying news story. The forbidden topics are posted on a dry erase board on the fridge in view of the dinner table which makes easy reminders a breeze. During one Thanksgiving dinner,my brother and I once shared a difference of opinion, as to whether the orange colored items in the serving dish were "sweet potatoes" or "yams."
He didn't talk to me for 3 months after that. But he loves me now.
I will admit to one thing political...I voted for Ross Perot way back when. Okay . There. I said it.
Peace out or bye for now.
xoxo Lisa

ps Kevin... Poor little doggy. He had someone who loved him and for that we are grateful. My sympathies to you.

Does anyone remember disecting that rat or muskrat in Biology class? I just remember you, Kevin, being so funny and helping me laugh while we were in class because I was so upset.

Lisa,

That's a great story about posting a list of subjects not to be discussed. My niece often says when anticipating a family vacation, we should hire a traveling therapist to come along (Noreen: Any interest?). If we can't get Noreen to take the job, we'll use the list.

Glenda,

Wasn’t it a fetal pig? As a long-time member of PETA, if back then I was as outspoken as I am now, Sister Georgine might have b---h slapped me instead of Harold.

Elmer, you are too funny. I can't imagine you outspoken, but hey its been 30years. Hey by the way Elmer are you planning to go to the reunion? I don't remember reading anything to say if you were or weren't?

Fabulous job, well done Maureen Bez for hosting the meeting @your house...it was great to see those that attended and a lot of fun too! Kudos to Cheryl and John too!

For those fellow classmates that are out there and reading this stuff but keeping quiet.....WAKE UP!!!!! Say you are out there, make your profiles, and come to the REUNION Oct 4!!!! it won't hurt and its probally the easiest painless thing you will ever do! I promise you it will be worth it, just to see everyone! Since I reconnected it is a new found joy in my life to see the people we spent most of our young adult lives with! Everyone is still the same, warm and friendly like we never left the walls of MCHS. So come on be there to share old memories and MAKE NEW MEMORIES! Ok I will step down from my soap box and kick yas in the backside if you don't step up and join us! You won't regret it!

Hi All,
GReg,
Hoovers was an after hour bar. If my memory serves me correct it was open until 2 or 2:30AM. Located in Mount TAbor on route 53. It was a Real BAr.
Kevin,
so Sorry to hear about your puppy. I'm a dog lover and own a Boston Terrier. I would be lost without him.

Bill - thats what you get for moving to Chicago! Got to love the summers there (all 8 weeks of it) but I learned to dread the 44 weeks of winter in Michigan!

And I agree with Myrtle- to all those who haven't put their profiles up yet, come on! We were a great class and we need you! (UGHHHHHHHHHH, I sound like a politician!) Where's Heidi? Diana Robertson????? Bill Kelleher??? Boy did he make me laugh! Between him, Bill Casey , John O'Connell and Bill Genevrino, there was never a dull moment!

To all friends of Hoovers,(and you know who you are)
Back in the day when I was not quite of legal drinking age,I think it might of been the summer of 1975. I was sitting there in Hoovers and nursing a cold root beer with my motorcycle buddies, watching a scantly dressed woman dancing in front of these fine young men for money. I felt as though I should give here my shirt because she looked very cold.I didn't but I did give here a quarter that I had left over from my beer(Imean root beer)Yes Hoovers was a go go and Motorcycle enthusinist hangout. A few years later I get a call from my little league coach to be on Hoovers fastpitch softball team. My coach was a regular. If anyone sees an old guy in there named Jack tell him Bucky says Hey.
The golf outing was a success, I only broke one club. To all those golfers, bring your clubs with you. Who has any pull in Parsippany to getting an outing at the Knoll. I'll see if I can talk to Mike Luther (mayor of Parsippany and classof77)
Until we meet again,
Harold Andrew Riedinger III

Me thinks you all mean "Hooters" not "Hoovers"
xo Lisa

07/23/08 12:21 AM #283

Cheryl Knapp (Carbini)

Lisa, I think that is another school-state. I am trying to place Hooters...I know there was a liquor store Joe McCourt and co. always stopped at for beer, wine, etc. and it was in Mt. Tabor, but I don’t remember the bar. I do remember a very snowy evening starring out the window of a bar-and I think it was the place in Mountain Lakes. Maureen, isn’t that a bar, or was across from the shopping center and what used to be the hair salon? Looks like they are renovating the building.

I think it is all a blur...was then too!

We did have fun on Sunday...thanks again to all of you who came and want to contribute your time and great talents to making sure our reunion is what it should be. Good ideas out there!

Buck: ask John P. to look into getting some time on a course. He says he has connections all over the place. He says he does not have time to come on the website-he’s missing all this fun! Email him though...I think it is a great idea-maybe for those who come in on Friday or Sunday???
Do it!

Kevin, because I don’t come into this blog as often as I would like, I keep missing chunks of news. From what I just read, you loft your friend. I am so sorry. I still get upset thinking about losing my cat years ago. I hope you are okay.

good night all!! and keep those garden photos coming. I am getting a kick out of reading about them and seeing the pictures! What fun. Watch out Lisa, those bugs are big enough to leash! Please leave them behind when you come out here.

xo all!

Cheryl
