No, Buck, Deane is NOT the Albanian. He has "people" to build stuff for him, but I can understand the confusion, since the man HAS NOT POSTED ANY PICTURES of his family yet!!!! :P

Kathy,
It's Viking Bakery in Denville.

MaryGrace Van Saun (Tiersch)

Kath,
The other bakery you could be thinking about is Three Crown, but unfortunatly that bakery was closed years ago so the Viking Bakery is the only one that is still in Denville.
I remember having cravings of Jersey stuff when I lived in New Hamphire. Everytime we would venture back to Jersey my mother in law would have a roll of taylor ham for us to take back w/ us, we would have pizza and calzones they whole time we stayed in NJ because you can't get that stuff in NH. NH idea of a calzone is pizza fold in 1/2. We would also have real bakery cakes not the stuff you get in the grocery store, so you out of towners I can relate to what you are going through.

Marianne to answer your question regarding how I get ready for school, in June I put up my bulletin boards and cover them w/ huge black garbage bags so there is no fading during the summer months...I leave all my teaching materials on the shelves, covered to protect from dust so alls I have to do is bring in the stuff for my desk and misc. items...you will learn as years go on how to simplify your school stress. Soon the stress will turn into a good kind of anxiety to see your students and reconnect w/ other faculty members and of course the PAY CHECK!

Mary Grace & Faith-

The VIKING BAKERY! That's exactly the one I was thinking of!!!!!!!!!!! I went in there with my mother-in-law when we visited NJ. It was just as if I died and went to heaven. If my memory serves me correctly, we probably got one of each thing and I'll bet the bill was $50+. That's ridiculous!

How about Main Place Deli in Denville. Is that still there? I remember they had the most unbelievable subs! You can't get anything like that where I live. You can, of course, go to subway or blimpies. Just not the same.

Now for my next question . . . does anyone know how I can lose about 40 pounds before October 4th?

Thanks!

Love, Kathleen

Scerb-

How are you doing? I hope you're hanging in there and I hope you have a fantastic school year. You go, girl!!! Did you know that Glenda is a teacher as well?

Love, Kathleen

Liz Kopf (Mazur)

40 pounds by Oct 4th? No problem! BUILD A SLATE PATIO! lol!

Faith Zimmerman

Kathleen,
Yes, Main Place Deli is still there. They've changed owners - but you'd never know it. Walking in there will still definitely take you back to yesteryear.

Kevin,
In response to your question "Did any of us even consider the possibility that a Woman or a Black Man COULD BE President 30 years ago?" :

30 years ago I would have been amazed that there wasn't ALREADY a woman or a black person as president by now. I guess that back then I never even considered the possibility that it wouldn't have already happened.

I guess I'm building a slate patio (or two!)

Kathleen Gallagher (Murphy)

Liz & Debbie-

That's hysterical! What if I were to concrete my back yard? I'm talking mix the cement by hand. That would do it, no?

Faith-

Do you get to go to Main Place Deli a lot? If so, I envy you.

Mary Grace-

Do you remember, or anyone else remember, walking there from MCHS to get a sub before cheerleading practice? I do.

MaryGrace Van Saun (Tiersch)

Kath,
As Faith said Main Place Deli is still there. Did you know that me, Lucille and Mary Favale use to work there when we were in school or was that when we were in college...nevertheless the 3 of us use to work there when this guy named Cliff was the owner. They still make great subs and the smell alone walking in there is out of this world so good!

Did Glenda go back to school yet?
When does your lil guy start Kath or has he already?
I a chumping at the bit to get started...I wish it was the 4th already!

Mary Grace-

Dylan started two weeks ago and absolutely loves it! Fourth grade, can't believe it! Where does the time go?

Glenda, I believe, started shortly after Dylan.

What grade do you teach?

I do remember, now, that the three of you worked at Main Place Deli. You lucky ducks! What was that sandwich with cole slaw and russian dressing in it, with about 25 layers to it?

See . . . this is why I am now concerned with losing 40 pounds before 10/4th. All I do is think about food. I pretty much live for it. But when you think about it, I don't have any other vices, so I guess food is OK. Fat & happy, baby!!

Love you my friend, Kathleen

08/28/08 01:47 PM #621

Kathleen Gallagher (Murphy)

Faith-

I agree! Quite honestly, I don't care if our president is a purple woman with yellow polka dots. That stuff doesn't matter to me at all. As long as our president has integrity, great morals and values and will do what he or she says in the best interest of the USA, I'm good with it!

Love, Kathleen

P.S. - Post some pictures of you and Hope and your families, OK? I'm trying to do the same, but I don't know how and I'm still trying to figure it out. If anyone out there would like to help me, I'd greatly appreciate it!

To All-

Just thinking about the attire for the dinner/dance! Can we all wear big, baggy sweatsuits?

Maureen Bezold (Como)

Kath,
All my sisters went to 17 Main for dinner a couple of months back (17 Main is now closed) and we walked past Main Place Deli. Mary Anne and I both commented on how we used to walk down and get sandwiches before cheering for a game.

Margaret,
Do you think that Bucky thinks we are going to the Reservoir Tavern this Friday, as in tomorrow night?

Just a quick update, Cheryl D'Aloia finally signed on - YEAH - but unforunately cannot make the reunion; haven't heard from Tony Barberio yet; spoke with Peggy Duphiney (she left after sophomore year) and she gave me Nancy Thomas' address and Peggy is also in contact with Laura Faccibene. I think that is all for now.

Kathy-

Let me know when you want to do the cement work, I'll come help and we can work off some weight, preferably before 10/4. However, from your pictures I can't see where you could possibly shed 40 pounds! And I think we need to bring some food to NJ that is native to GA since we have horrible pizza, no Taylor ham, etc. Any ideas? Boiled peanuts?

MaryGrace-

Your methods of returning to teaching year after year are fantastic! You should write a book! I'm serious, two of my best friends down here are teachers and they kill themselves getting ready for that first day of school.

Lisa Henkel-

So glad you're on the message forum! Us Parsippany folks have to stick together. I don't know half these restaurants the others are talking about except the Reservoir. Do you remember going to the Strawberry Patch with Donna DiGirolamo? (Is that still around - anyone know?) One of my good friends here grew up in Paterson and met her husband there - isn't that so bizarre?! SHe graduated the same year as us too! Glad you had a great trip with Marianne. I heard from her the other day, she was in her classroom, getting ready for school to start. We have alot of teachers from our class. Can't wait to see you!

Kathy-

You could email someone your pictures, then of course your id and password to MCHS78 and someone else can do it for you.

Maureen Bezold (Como)

Kath,

Call me later tonight and I will help you with the pictures.

Lisa,

I didn't realize that your parents had moved out of Normandy Village and up to Maine. How are your parents and how is your sister (unfortunately her name is escaping me right now - it's that old age setting in).
My brain is not failing me yet - I just remembered your sisters name, Denise.

John M O'Connell

Peggy Duphiney, wow. I'd forgotten. Are there any others who did not make it all the way through that we could try to find? Here are a few that come to mind:

Louis Caserta
Paul Bangiola
Tim Lefferty
Mary Beth Powers
Nancy Fitten
Kathy Fortas

I am sure there are others.
And no, I am not looking in the 1975 yearbook.

John- When I first saw the Missing Classmates list I did a quick scan through the yearbooks. I came up with about 50 names that didn't make it all the way to senior year and I stopped when I got to "S". It seems that we're having enough problems tracking down the people that actually graduated... do we need to add another 75+ names.

Deb-

I think the pictures only show me from the waist up, don't they? The weight is from the weight down :( But it's all good, I promise that I'm fat and happy!

As far as food goes, we certainly can bring boiled peanuts and perhaps some Georgia Peaches. Oh yeah . . . we can't forget the grits and the biscuits with sausage gravy! Eww!

As far as emailing my pictures to someone to put on the site for me, I don't know how to even download, or is it upload, pictures to my email. I have a thing called Kodak Gallery and I see some photos in there on the computer, but sorry to say, that's as far as I get.

Vince & Maureen -

Thank you so much for your offers to help. I really appreciate it. I'll call you in a bit!

Kath

Oh My God-Ya don't check in for a few days and look what happens!!!! I had to read THREE pages of posts....

TO ALL-

I sincerely want to appologize for...making waves or what ever you want to call it.

Not that I'm using it as an excuse, but last week my Bi-Polar meds were changed and I was in a major funk.I didn't leave the house for 6 days.Sunday was the first day that I felt "normal" (?) again. Carol V. has witnessed this issue first hand,I've been dealing with it for 12 years. So,again,I really do not intend to upset any one, offend anyone, irratate any one,INFURIATE any one(Bucky).....I am SO sorry.I know that I was completely out of place.I hope that you will forgive me.I also want to extend personal appologies to Liz and Kathy G.
I am not typically a confrontational person.Actually I avoid confrontations completely if I'm in that sircumstance.

So, I ask that you will all forgive me for all of my inappropriate rants and I will make sure that it doesn't happen again.Well,I really can't PROMISE that, because sometimes I say things w/out even knowing that I'm causing uncomfortable feelings. I am very vocal...yeah,right! (that's probably a result from my four years at MC when I barely said Boo,or expressed myself),and I am in to a lot of varied topics,so it may seem that I have something to say about everything....and I do! OK.....SO......

Elmer,
My Showroom was located at 13 South Warren St.,just around the corner from Annie's shop. That is so funny about the cross dressers...who knew???

I would LOVE to adopt a kid.I've always wanted a Chinese girl.I think Chinese women are beautiful.I would call her Mai Ling....yeah,I've been thinking about this for many years.

Faith-
I also questioned why there wasn't any one except white men presidents.I am truely color blind, meaning I don't see color, never have. When I was a kid I could not understand prejuduse(?sp).I have always felt that every one is equal and I am so glad to see, especially in younger generations, that bias & predjudise(I'm having a real problem recalling how to spell that!!!)are becoming a non-issue.Based on my family & friend's children,I see that the younger they are, they don't judge people on their color, race, religion or sexuality. It is a great thing. That's something else that ,I think, has changed a lot from 30 years ago.I attribute a lot of it to international media exposure. The world is getting smaller & more intimate.

Kathy-

Those sandwiches are called Sloppy Joes & they are yummy!
As far as the 40 pounds.....Lipo is the only answer since October is only about 5 weeks away...sorry.If you don't eat at all from now 'til then, maybe 20 lbs. though.

Maureen-

Did I see the word Neshanic in one of your posts?
What da heck is tat???
The Reservoir will be veeerrryyy busy Friday night.

Liz,

That line HAS to go....It would drive ME crazy!!!
The patio looks great otherwise and of course I love pergolas.I don't know how you people do all of these laborious things!!! Condo living has deffinately spoiled me.I really miss gardening though.I find it so therapudic.

Debbie,

BOILED PEANUTS!!!!!!???????? WHAT?????

Was the Strawberry Patch a women's clothing store or a restaurant?

I am glad that you & Lisa are engaging....well,maybe getting your feet wet is a better discription...in the political issues.I feel that it is so important for us to involve ourselves with our country's leadership...look what can happen!!!

I Emailed Connie B. Her family still owns the Reservoir Tavern but she left a few years ago because she couldn't take no mo!

I mentioned several weeks ago that I do my best to go there whenever I'm in Jersey. I reccomend their Gnocci w/ Bolangese sauce. They got their recipe for that from my friend Tony Onorati's mother. It is so delisious. It sounds very heavy, but it's not...really good.

The placed is packed on weekends!!! Packed!

Margaret-

What are you seasoned with? I hope it's not something I don't like!

Myrtle-

I love your strategy w/ school...look at you!!!!
That retirement place does sound great...if your in Jersey. The shore is the best.I invested in several properties in Asbury Park in 1999.I loved seeing the ocean from my house and walking to the beach.Fortunately I got out of the Buy & Flip stage of realestate JUST in time. The last property that I sold was on Biscane Bay in Miami.Dwane Wade bought it.When he came in with my realtor, all I saw was a realy tall guy.I had no idea who he was(Miami Heat Star) until the realtor told me.All I have to say is Thank God for Dwane Wade because the prices dropped hundreds of thousands of dollars in,like, the next month!

Taylor Ham (or "pork roll" as it's called here) is something that no one should be without!!!

Fortunately Fort Lauderdale is a very cosmopolitan area & there isn't much I can't find here...even good pizza!
But the damn cheese is so expensive!! I can't figure that one out...

Lisa-

I think you're running neck & neck w/ Carol for best comedian! So funny you are...

OK.I'm fried.I need a nap!

Sincerely.KGB/PEACE!

Oh yeah...we had a prom????

08/28/08 06:09 PM #632

JoAnn Chegwidden (Rosica)

Gosh, I can't keep up with everyone's posts, I would be on here all day and night!! I'm saying to myself, self...tell them to slow down!! haaa...

I loved Billy K. singing at the award ceremonies we had, who played the piano, or did someone play while he sang the Long and Winding Road? And Bill Casey was right, Dean danced too. I know I am way behind in the posts, oh well.....sooo, what about Sunday? or a parade? or someone in a band or something?? Can someone let me know, Maureen, I think you said something about it. Not sure, I am all mixed up....

Kathy G....hellooooo....I saw your pics on someones profile and you look great, don't change a thing. And by the way, my daughter told me that she knows a Kat Gallagher, and she lives in Rockaway, by Park Lakes!! Can you believe it?? I will have to ask her what she looks like. I always remember going to your house and all the clocks on the wall. They still in the family?

Well, hope everyone has a great weekend, the last of the summer...boooo....talk soon

08/28/08 06:19 PM #633

Faith Zimmerman
