John O,
There is one person on your list that I don't think we will be able to make contact with - MaryBeth Powers. I had told Cheryl a few months back (and John Sheehan confirmed my suspensions) that I have seen MaryBeth pretty much wandering the streets of Boonton. It is very unfortunate to see a former classmate in this condition. If there was only something we could do for her.

Kath, as soon as I finish this post I need to run to Wally World and then I'll give you a call to help you with the pics.

Kev, Neshanic is down in the Hillsborough, Belle Mead area which I believe is off of Route 287 south.

Joanne, the talk of the parade is the Boonton Firemen's parade down Main Street. I will be sitting with Charley Sabatino, who is coming to New Jersey to visit with his Mom. My Michael's will also be marching. If you want to join us give me a call. The parade is on Saturday. Thanks to Faith letting us know, Dave Zelinsky's band will be playing at the carnival on Sunday in Boonton, I'm pretty sure from 7ish to 11ish. Fireworks at 10.

Lisa C. - I just got off the phone with Tony Barberio and I will be sending him an invitation.

Gotta run, but will catch up later.

Peace out as my son says, Maureen

P.S. - Bucky, are you coming to New Jersey tomorrow?

Kevin-

The Strawberry Patch was a bar somewhere east of Parsippany (Totowa maybe - help Lisa) that we hung out at. Clothes store? Now that would be an interesting name!

Glad you're feeling better! We all have bad days!

Kathy-

OK- I'll hunt down some boiled peanuts and you can look for peaches. Although I've lived here for 7 years I've yet to see a peach tree in this state. And living in a town called Peachtree City you'd think they would be lining the streets - nada! However, if you drive down to Plains which is a few hours south of here, there are some pretty neat cotton fields with the big rolls of cotton on the sides of the road; quite interesting.

Kevin's idea of lipo is sounding pretty good.........

Maureen-

You're a trooper for trying to hunt everyone down. I didn't have too much luck with Maureen Farrell. And where is Ellen Crane? What is she up to?

Oh my God I'm exhausted from reading. Can you feel the frenzy beginning??? This will be so much fun. Maureen ...you are a one woman show! Cheryl and John...I can't say enough personal thank you's. Even if the reunion were never to take place, just having so much fun chatting with all of the classmates has added a great deal of joy to my life.
...and Kevin...smmmoooooooooooch! for you.

Ok, I am a little busy or maybe slow on the uptake and just found the forum. To really start a whirlwind for all you lovers of Eric Heiden, I was lucky enough to be present at his events and be involved presenting him several of his medals. Although, my husband was lucky enough to be at "The Hockey Game" the same evening.
Still not sure who had the better deal on that one. We plan on attending the reunion. I am so thankful to all those involved in putting this together. When I walked off the grounds of MC I never went back. Many times I thought I should have kept touch with the HS friends and regretted losing contact with everyone. What a great chance for me to go through the profiles and start the memories churning. Reading people's profiles and their memories is wonderful. Can not wait to see everyone in October.

Hey you guys - so much fun to read the posts... i loved main place deli in denville; always went there when i stayed after for practice - and i remember what i always ordered: a turkey sub with mayo and o&v - how many calories do you think that was? we also went to denville pizza sometimes...i spent all day in school today and got a lot done but still am not quite ready - unfortunately, i don't think you'll be hearing from me too often in the near future

marygrace - thanks for the tips; i appreciate any help i can get - it's so hard because i have two classrooms and i'm always shuttling back and forth

kathy g - wow how good to hear from you - and you look exactly the same in your pictures...how is pat? and did you know my son Pat also lives in Atlanta - in Decatur??? i love it down there - there is an awesome place to go for breakfast called "the flying biscuit" ever been there? other places we like to go when i visist are "the brick store" (excellent beer list) and "front page news" - they have delicious food...
i would get so fat if i lived down there - i love southern food but it sure is fattening...
anyway folks my eyes are closing - wishing you all a happy labor day and hoping my year isn't too nuts...
love,
marianne

There's another place in Atlanta by my sisters place on Collier by Piedmont Hospital that my husband loves, its called Felinis Pizza. Have you ever been there?

Maureen-

You have definately hit a nerve with the story of Mary Beth Powers. It is so sad. That girl had problems in high school.I don't know if she was being treated for some kind of mental disorder then, but I did hear from some one a while back that she wasn't well.

When you say wandering the streets,do you mean homeless?
Maybe there is something we can do to help her.

Trust me,depression and mental diseases are not easy to deal with.I have been through hell and back dealing w/ Bi-Polar disorder.

If you could get more info about Mary Beth, please let me know.I know some good Dr.s in Morris County.

Oh,some one mentioned Elaine Laufenberg. She and Nancy Lund were attatched at the hip.If you can find one...the other probably will show up.I loved those two girls. We had so much fun together.I would love to see them!

Peace/KGB

ah, i remember the awards like it was yesterday. i remember winning for being the "stud muffin" of the class. and actually 3 bills were on stage at the prom: bill k. and bill g. did "the long and winding road", and then i belted out a great rendition of "feelings". 78% of the girls and 12% of the boys fainted, it was so moving. "feelings, oh, oh, oh, feelings...".

THAT'S WHEN WE WERE ALL STANDING UP!!!!! (right before the aforementioned unfortunate incident) We were applauding Casey's incredible performance!!

Kath, Deb - STOP!! You both look great!!! Just hang with me that night, it'll give the illusion you guys lost 40 lbs 'cause..... baby's got back!!! :o)

By the way Kath - NOW i think you're fibbing!!! A purple woman with yellow dots??? I think there might be a "little" concern!!! :o)

Buck - That aunt I mentioned from NM... it was her birthday the other day. Thanks to you, her gift will be arriving in a few days. A 3 lb log of taylor ham, 4 boxes of 8 sliced AND... a Taylor Ham/NJ t-shirt!! I almost went with the taylor ham & cheese Christmas ornament (I swear!!!!) but I thought that was a little bit of an overkill!!

Joanne-

Hellooooooooooooooooo to you! How are your boys? No, we don't have the clocks anymore. They were gone when that house was sold back in 78ish. I forgot about those clocks until you mentioned it. What a memory you have! You look great and I can't wait to see you. How is Marcia doing? Please tell her I said hello!

Debbie-

I've been to Felini's Pizza in Buckhead. May husband and I used to do an hour of "perpectual adoration" at Christ the King Church from 11:00 p.m. - midnight on Saturday nights. We would always go to Felini's afterwards and sit outside and eat. That could very well explain, once again, why I'm fat & happy!

Did you ever see the "giant peach" on 85 south. Question . . . if Georgia is the "peach state", why is the giant peach in South Carolina????

Marianne-

Pat is doing great! He's been with AT&T for years and years now. Actually, he was in NY/NJ this week (he's coming home this a.m. :) on a 10:00 a.m. flight). Tru TV was at the AT&T service center in Manhattan filming for an episode of a show called "Tough Jobs". Pat had to oversee it. He said it was really hectic, yet really cool! He's not sure when it will air, but it will be exciting to watch. Pat's mom is doing wonderfully! She travels a lot now. She's been to Alaska and Ireland and other places that she just loved. Good luck to you in your upcoming school year. You'll do great. Did you see where I posted that Glenda is a teacher, too?

Kevin-

No need to apologize, it's all good! I'm glad you're feeling better. You haven't really mentioned anything about "Fay". Did you get any scary weather from it?

Carol-

OK . . . how about a Red, fat lady with blue freckles? LOL!

Love, Kath

JoAnn,

Annie Fink is 91. I went to her 90th last year at Romantico's in Randolph last year (a lot of people were there) and I went to an intimate dinner party for her 91st (four of us).

She misses her store and customers and always tells me that she gets a little depressed at Christmas time (because the store was always so busy). She lives a very full life--travels, goes to the theater and to art museums. She throws great parties to which she invites artists, literary people, etc. At the last party she gave I had a fascinating conversation with a Talmud scholar on Jewish views of the afterlife.

Deb-

I do remeber the strawberry patch..it was behind the DMV in Wayne, behind Fountains of Wayne on rt 46.Tom Warnock had Patrice Dege,Maur Murph & I go to see his idol,Grace Jones there.I still have a napkin w/ her autograph on it! What the heck happened to her???The clothing store was called just strawberry's.Wasn't there also a place on rt 23,was it called Mother's?

I still want to know what the boiled peanuts are about.
When I get together with Maureen Murphy, she never shares all of these little Atlata goodies with me.I think she misses the Jersey Shore-she has a place on the beach in Long Branch that she is currently renting. She also loves Florida and owns a great place on Biscane Bay in Miami, both awaiting her retirement in a couple of years.

Carol-

Your Aunt is going to be as happy as a pig in... pork roll !! and a T-shirt to boot no less!!!

Lisa-
Kiss back to you,you sweet thing!

Kevin, Lisa and All,

I wasn't sure when I posted that note about MaryBeth if I was going to post anything at all at this time; I figured it could wait until the reunion. But when John O. posted his list of missing people, I figured I better mention something to everyone. Maybe I will see her at some point this weekend either at the parade or the carnival. I'll let you all know if I do.

Maureen,

Just a thought. I understand not wanting to 'publicly' post concerns about a classmate that might need some help, like the mass emailing I sent to the ladies regarding Linda. I really struggled with whether to wait until the reunion, but my thinking behind telling people now instead of waiting for the reunion was that I wanted everyone to have the opportunity to start thinking now with clear heads, instead of trying to interject something that important into the midst of the reunion excitement. And then, when we are all together in one place as a group, some solutions may have already begun to form and decisions, suggestions can be made. So I am glad that Marybeth's issue is being brought up now, because as with Linda, sometimes even alittle bit of help can make a difference.

Have I told you how much I appreciate ALL of the wonderful work you are doing??

WOOHOO! Just got the okay from Mulholland to activate his page for him. Unfortunatley, he is deployed through March 2009 and can't come to the reuinion, but his email address will be activated so feel free! He may not be able to respond often, but he does get occasional down time.

Kev and Liz,

Hopefully our paths will cross this weekend and we'll be able to talk and reminisce. We'll see.

You are quite welcome Liz; no thanks are necessary. How is Linda and her daughter?

Kevin-

Boiled peanuts are exactly as someone just described them.......blech! But I will get some and bring some for y'all to sample and then spit out. LOL

Yes- Mothers, we went there too! Is that still there? I think we went there more than the Strawberry Patch.

Kath-

Oh my gosh, we love to go to Christ the King Church on Easter Sunday because of the trumpets they have! Its my sister's church and my parents love when we take them there! Wow- its really a small world. My sister (Karen Class of '76) lives about 3 miles from there.

In regards to MaryBeth Powers, it would be nice if we could find out exactly what her condition is and establish a list of her needs and how we can possibly help her with those needs. My heart really goes out to her! However, I do think we need to be very careful about what we put on the website to avoid any issues of slander. Even though this is all just small talk, its all digital and forever etched somewhere in memory. (I tell my girls this once a week because they're both text messaging junkies!)

My sister comes home this weekend from a 2 week trip to Africa, she was celebrating her 50th birthday. We are going to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary with her and enjoy this beautiful weather!

For the many people who have been trying to reach (or simply curious about) Chris O'Brien, he is doing well. I've remained in touch with Chris over the years and have recently reached out to him to join in on the fun & possibly the reunion.

Yes, he was a Councilman in Morristown, lives locally, marches every year in Morristown's St. Patrick's Day parade with the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, was finally married after age 40 to Laryssa, in a beautiful ceremony just a few years ago, on the water at Cape Cod. He also has a daughter.

Not wanting to steal his thunder I won't get into any additional details here...hoping he posts shortly.
