Lisa- Noah is adorable! I'm sure its tough to watch his health decline. We had an orange tabby named Charlie that came to us before the girls were born. He died very suddenly Mother's Day weekend a few years back (he was 14 years old) and I was devastated. He was definitely my best friend and I still haven't replaced him. I placed a homemade stepping stone the girls and I made in one of his favorite spots in our yard with his name etched in it. He will forever be in my memory. So enjoy Noah while he is still around!

Lisa - Noah is beautiful. Is he a Maine Coon? I’m so sorry to hear about his condition. May you treasure your time together. My thoughts and prayers will be with you during this difficult time.

Deb - Sorry for your loss. I know your pain too well. We have a special place in the garden that serves as a memorial to all our beloved animal friends.

Tom - right, maybe we should mark you as the pet detective!

Maureen,

We could make a movie bout that....no wait someone already did.

I was once told by several people that I am funnier when I am stressed, I should be hosting the tonight show if this keeps up!!!

So spring is in the air ! How do I know the first "Spring" holiday St Patricks Day is Tuesday, does anyone know what holiday Wednesday is?

Tom,

You may be the Pet Detective, I am the Dripping Springs Undertaker to the Animal Kingdom, I had to bury a pet Longhorn Cow over the weekend, Took 2 hours, Made $300 bucks. The owners did not want the Buzzards or Coyotes to do their job. The cow had been around for 24 years. All my buddies asked me if I took the horns, I don't think so! Only the cash. So, presented with a business idea, I went around to the local vet clinics and feed stores to let them know what I can do. I may even wear black. In this part of the country it is impossible to dig without using a demolition hammer. So will it be the Coyotes or me?

Ok Tom and Maureen- you're both making me hysterical which is a good thing. Ditto Tom on the stress thing so what else is there to do but be funny!

Greg- oh my gosh- you buried a cow????? Where on earth did you bury the poor thing?

Liz- where are you??????? Have you held out against the butts? I'm guessing you are hanging in there!

Buried old Bessie where she dropped, Dug her eternal resting place right in front of her. A whole new experience for a Mick from Succasunna. They liked my service so much that I may get more work from them,(not just sending pets to the great beyond). Like Woody Allen said "90% of life is just showing up".

Weather: Finally got rain, 2in in the last 2 days. 40 degrees. I was able to burn a Brush Pile in my back property today. The pile had been around for 2 years and was the size of 2 car garage. Hopefully the drought will begin to break and I will have a lawn this year.

Hope all is well.

Happy Friday, the 13th!

Greg N - So one minute you are “cooking” for the Lions Club. The next, you are taking care of Bessie’s remains. Sounds like a case for Tom, our Pet Detective.

I had a cat cremated (sp?)last year and that cost me $300.00. Greg buries Bessie...roughly the size of 100 pretty kitties for the same price...I think I got ripped!

Maureen, as far as I know ,Noah is a house variety brown tabby "with white" as they say at the Humane Society from which I adopted him. His size would suggest Maine Coon infiltration...which is a great lookin'cat...if you like cats. However, Noah actually believes he's a dog or a baby... anything but a common tabby...sometimes when I'm sleeping, he'll come up on the bed lay down on the pillow, and reach a paw out to touch my eyelashes or my mouth...he has startled me out of sleep so many times with that little move, I'm surprised I haven't had a heart attack! See...so much to love.

Hi Lisa, I just looked at your cute photo of Noah!!

03/13/09 07:12 PM #1471

JoAnn Chegwidden (Rosica)

Just gotta love him and where I work, we make a lot of meds for sick kittys and dogs. We even make meds for great adventure(animals there) do you remember going to that way back when?

03/13/09 08:08 PM #1472

Greg Nesbitt

Lisa,

Hope you get a lot more enjoyment out of Noah, We have gone thru a few cats around here, The street is not a healthy place to be. But like dogs they all have there own personalities, and I didn't care for cats when I was younger. My Kids like them and they do grow on ya.

Maureen F.

I forgot about cooking for the Lions club a few weeks back. My wife is from Loiusiana and they have saying down there, " A coonass will eat anything that won't eat him first". Love to go over there and try anything, Cracklins, Boudin, Turducken, Crawfish, Squirrel, Dove, Alligator. Gotta go downstairs and stir the Cowboy Soup.

Oh Lisa- you've got a little Romeo on your hands! How adorable! Charlie (my cat) would come lay on my piilow smack down next to my head if I wasn't up when he needed me to be. Yes cats can have attitude but they can have infinite realms of affection for ya!

And Lisa I agree- you did get ripped off! I'm still chuckling about Greg burying a cow.

Joann - where do you work?

Soup sounds good today..... its raining out today.

Lisa - No matter what type kitty, Noah is magnificent and sounds like such a cuddle bug. Hugs to both of you.

Greg - I think it is so touching that Bessie’s owners cared so much for her to make sure no other creatures disturbed her resting place. Nice of you to make that happen. Tell your wife that she has my husband’s family beat when it comes to southern delicacies! They are from The Heart of Dixie and I often decline their side dishes, but love their desserts.

Deb - There seemed to be some open seats last night at the Georgia Dome. Noticed some footage of The Varsity during the breaks! Since it seems to be foul weather in Atlanta today, perhaps you could attend the tourney and cheer for Duke!

JoAnn - Oh yes, Great Adventure! Intriguing - where do you work and what do you do? …if it isn’t too classified to divulge!

Just came across this story that might be of interest to JoAnn (Marine Mom) and Deb since there is a UGA connection too...

Hummer, the mascot at The Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, has just been promoted to Corporal.

For more details, check out the story at beaufortgazette.com

Deborah Kozak (Martin)

Maureen- ok, I'll have to check it out! I'm not surprised there were empty seats at the Dome given the state of the economy. I know Nascat's race was half empty last year and that is a big event down here which I'm sure you know!

Hey guy's,

Lisa , sorry to hear your little guy is not doing to good. I grew up with cats and dogs my whole life ,except for now we don't have a cat. I think Duke might eat it.
Greg great story or I mean new job you have there. Your pup looks just like my pup, they could be brothers.
When I was living in sin with a certain person, her cat would bite my toes every morning to wake up. Anyway have a great St. Patricks Day!!
Bubba Sunshine
P.S. Liz are you quitting smoking? I hope it goes well for you.Call if you need to be smacked around if the urge strikes you to light up.
One more thing for everyone to ponder, is someone"butt naked" or "Buck naked"?

03/14/09 09:39 PM #1478

Liz Kopf (Mazur)

Yep, still on the path to smoke free, but I know that if I can find Bez she'd help me out!!!!!

Buck is naked??? Where???

03/14/09 10:52 PM #1479

Thomas J. Cornine

Bucky,

Here Goes.....

The standard expression is “buck naked,” and the contemporary “butt naked” is an error that will get you laughed at in some circles. ...

And Yes I googled it. Neat invention glad I came up with this internet thingy...

I understand if Liz would rather hear Buck IS Naked

Back to Mob Wars....

and in a nod to those of us who Are Italian or like me Married to an Italian... Wednesday is
St. Joseph's Day.....

Beware the Ides of March!

Tom - silly me, I thought Wednesday, March 18th was celebrated as the birthday of The Pillsbury Doughboy!

Go Duke!

03/15/09 11:31 AM #1481

Lisa Coppola

Hi All,
Glad to hear from you Bucky. I love that "Living in sin" line. I think you and I talked about that a little at the reunion. The kitty is still hanging in there..thanks for the good thoughts!
Maureen...Despite how much I have recently come to love you, all I can say is "Duke" rhymes with "Puke" for a reason! HAHA THAT SHOULD STIR UP SOME TROUBLE!!!! Oh, what's a little basketball joke between friends, right Mo. Arizona's not even getting in this year so feel free to launch a counter attack. I can take it.

LIZ, I repeat I am a nonsmoker AND YOU ARE TOO!

Hi Debbie,Joanne,Margaret,Tom,Greg, Bez, Weggie, Harold, Carol, Vincent ( I know you're out there.)
Beautiful day here..I'm taking my sun worshipping self outside for some rays in the desert!
xoxo Lisa

03/15/09 06:27 PM #1482

Maureen Farrell

Lisa - Undoubtedly when you say, Duke puke, you must be referring to what Bucky’s dog must do when he gets the scent of a Wildcat. We know you weren’t referring to the ACC Champion Blue Devils! Enjoy those rays while we suffer through the rain.

03/15/09 06:32 PM #1483

Deborah Kozak (Martin)

Tom Cornine cheated again! And how come as an Italian I didn't know Wednesday is St. Joseph's feast day? Must be those missing brain cells.....

Oh Lisa.... thanks for making me laugh about the Duke joke. And Maureen- so quick to rebound - no pun intended!

Liz- how's the abstinence going?
