After leaving Maine West, I studied music education at Northeastern Illinois University, but I decided a career in teaching music would be tough with so many districts cutting back in fine arts budgets. I befriended a fellow musician while playing for a variety show pit band and apprenticed with him for several years to learn how to tune and repair pianos. I love it, and it's a perfect part time career that allows me to stay home with my children during the day. In 1998 I married Michael, a 1985 graduate of Hersey H.S., and we moved up to Lake Villa. As a hobby, I joined the community band up here and some friends and I formed a swing band, playing 30's and 40's Big Band music. We have a ton of fun! I guess I am forever the 'band geek'!
