I got sent an article that says a new Redford Marketplace will be built on the site of Redford High School.

I could not get the forum to work, so am sending you a message this way.

Well, of course, my first choice for Redford High School would be for it to be an excellent school, as it once was. 

Having the building underutilized and not well maintained was disappointing. Having it empty and deteriorating is horribly unacceptible.

A couple of years ago, something was mentioned about a potential partnership with Lawrence Tech to create a new school. That sounded like an exciting prospect, but have not heard anything about it.

I assume that viable options to serve students have been explored and none has been possible. Do you know?

Developing a good shopping center on the site would probably serve the community well.

The last time I was in Detroit, the school looked like it was burnt out. (Very sad) I'm surprised it is still standing.  I wish the city would use the property for education, but I understand the problems Detroit is going through.  I thing if the development co. is going to tear the school down, they should prominently display an memorial plaque. When you think of all the people involved in that place for all the years it stood, not only students, but teachers and the community at large, I think that a plaque is the least they can do for all of us.
