I remember you from Edison and was so sad to hear the news of your passing. We all lose a part of ourselves at the loss of one. My condolances to the family.

Fondly remembered,

The following is what I wrote in the Guest Book for Norm. I've posted the site below for anyone interested.

A fine classmate from Redford High, not to be forgotten. Arlene, I'm so grateful you two were able to be at the 50th class reunion in September, and enjoy yourselves with the rest of us. It was a pleasure to be around both of you. Norm sure had fun renewing old friendships. My sincere sympathy to you, Arlene, Gretchen, Peter, Rob, Fiona and Evan. May you feel the love of Christ through His Word and be sustained by those who are near as well as those praying from afar. God bless you all during this most difficult time.

Norm and I were classmates and good friends at Edison and Redford and beyond, sharing a love of jazz, beer, and just getting together as often as we could. One weekend when we were not yet 21, Norm, Dave Schaupner, and I decided to go to a Toledo nightclub where we could drink 3.2 beer and listen to some music. Of course, we also noticed the young women present. And Norm noticed one in particular. Her name was Arlene, and Norm didn't have much time to talk with either Dave nor I for the rest of the evening. A couple of years later they were married, 1964 I think.

Unfortunately I only got to see Norm once or twice between then and Redford's 50th reunion. When we met again on that occasion we picked up where we had left off 45 years earlier. Norm was exactly the same--warm, kind, funny, fun to be with. Of all the classmates I was fortunate enough to spend time with, Norm seemed to be the most youthfull and as unchanged as one could possibly be. Arlene, Norm, Carol and I "closed the bar" both Friday and Saturday nights, and parted after vowing to get together when they passed through East Tennessee in 2010.

Norm, you are very much missed by everyone who is fortunate enough to have known you!
