Donald Carroll Rogers

Aug. 5, 1941 — June 1, 2010                                                       

The Rev. Donald Carroll Rogers, 68, of Wilson died Tuesday. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Rusty Russell, the Rev. Larry Bartlett and the Rev. Andy Raynor will officiate.  The family will receive friends 7–9 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home.


Don served 34 years as a missionary/pastor and seminary teacher in Veracruz, Mexico, and trained more than 40 full-time national workers.  Rev. Rogers is survived by his wife, Elaine L. Rogers; two daughters, Denise Rogers Cherry and husband, Bill, of Wilson and Debbie Rogers Hachichou and husband, Walid, of Decatur, Ala.; four sons, Donald Rogers Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, of Washington, D.C., Daniel Rogers and wife, Carmen, of Trinity, Ala., David Rogers and wife, Sherri, of Rogers City, Mich., and Douglas Rogers and wife, Jana, of Wilson; and 17 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Vera Carroll Rogers.  Flowers are welcome or memorials in his memory may be directed to Faith Promise Giving, c/o Peace Church, 2838 Tilghman Road, Wilson, NC 27896 to build a church for the Totonacan Indians.  Condolences may be directed to www.joyners.net
