I worked with Elmer at Food Fair, 7 & Evergreen, during our high school years. I remember him as a little " different", but what I remember most was not that he was a good worker, but how he cussed. He said sumumabitch and managed to work it into every conversation, after graduation I transferred to another store and lost track of him, and other friends I had made during that time.
I visited with Elmer's brother which is how I learned he had died of cancer. I was told that he'd never married, but that he took care of his Mother until she died. After that he allowed a homeless lady to live with him until his own death. He's buried in Howell, MI.
