Kay Alene Schwartz (Snoddy)
September 18, 1941 - October 18, 2024
Kay Alene Schwartz, 83, of Lapeer, formerly of Detroit, died on Friday, October 18, 2024. Kay was born September 18, 1941, in Almont, to parents Robert and Ruth (Wilson) Snoddy.
Kay will be remembered as a person who never met a stranger, cared for others and had an infectious laugh that complemented her sense of humor. After earning an associate’s degree in office management, Kay worked as a dental assistant for many years. She raised her three kids in Detroit and believed in teaching them values like respect, hard work and lending a hand to those in need. She exposed her kids culturally by traveling with them or taking them to musicals like Cats or Phantom of the Opera. She attended Lapeer Free Methodist Church and was strong in her faith. She loved history, crafting, being on Lake Huron and just striking up chit chat with anyone. Above all, Kay loved her family. She will be missed deeply.
Kay is survived by her three children: Lori (Mary) Schwartz, of East Tawas, Marc Schwartz, of North Carolina and Beth Haddock, of Lapeer. She’s survived by five grandchildren: James Haddock, Brooke Haddock, Britney Schwartz, Brice Schwartz and Baylie Schwartz. She’s survived as well by her four siblings, including Betsy Snoddy, Robin Williams, Richard Snoddy and Tammy Snoddy. She is preceded in death by her aforementioned parents, her former husband, Richard Schwartz and longtime companion, Bill Podina.
In keeping with Kay’s wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Please share memories and condolences at www.muirbrotherslapeer.com
