I just can't believe that John is gone. I always played behind John on our football team. He was just a bit faster than me, and had soft hands for catching the football. He was one of the players that inspired me to work harder to try and beat him out for the starting position. We both started playing right halfback, but by our senior year, coach Larimore moved him to left end and put me right behind him.
John was very competitive and always strove to be the best he could, being rewarded with All-City and All-State honors. He even played for the U-M.
I only saw John twice after Redford. Once when we were both still in college, and once after that. I will miss not seeing him at the reunion.
For those of you who might read the In Memory section, just an addendum on John. He died of a malignant glioma, which is the same brain tumor that Senator Ted Kennedy had. He lived thirteen months after the diagnosis, and passed away on May 25, 2009.

What a shock to hear of John's passing. What a great team mate he was on our championship team. I'm sure all our team feels the same way.

I remember John from elementary school and he was always a great guy, with a wonderful smile and personality... I was hoping he would be at the reunion....

I am very sorry to hear of my friend John's passing. We went to Cooke and to Redford together. I have many great memories of those years with John. Have tried without success to find an obit for him. If anyone has any info I'd really appreciate it.
