I am going to price out several venues and let everyone give their feedback on them. I'll post here by end of next week.

OK - I"m in!  Keep in in the loop.  I'll work on dusting off the wheelchair, oiling the old joints, and figuring out how to use Siri or such- to help with the memory!  I'll tell Sherri (Aten) Betsey, I don't know if she keeps up here, and I know she isn't on facebook. ....but I'm going up to NJ to visit her the weekend of Aug 5h.....so I'll tell her to keep the date open.

Seriously, is there some one in a wheel chair?

Fran, as far as I know they are kidding.  It has been a running joke since this got started

I haven't attended any reunions since the 20th, but am looking forward to  this one.  I live about an hour or so from Dover, so if I can be of any help planning, let me know!

September 16, 2018 sounds great to me...Indoors with A/C...enough heat here in Florida...Fall colors would be appreciated ...green all year round for 17 years , would love to see Autumn in Jersey again...

Just to say again that date is great for me and Picatinny has my vote. Everyone seemed to have a good time at the last reunion.  It will be fantastic to see all again. Oh by the by I am dusting off the wheel chair and charging its battery.

OK ya'll. September 16th has been mentioned as a date for our reunion. I'd just like to point out that September 16th of 2018 is a Sunday. September 16th is a Saturday for this year, and I'm pretty sure we are talking about next year. I think we want it to be on a Saturday, so that would be September 15th. I've been slow on getting the prices. I was out of town quite a bit recently. Stay tuned.

It all sounds good to me.  The date is far off so I hope nothing comes up in the meantime.  Thank you to all involved in planning this.

Update on venues for the 2018 reunion:

These are the places that were suggested for a venue and I have done preliminary checking on for next year:

Chester Field House - must secure own catering, and do our own set-up, clean up and take down. I did not do any other checking on this because I don't think we want to do all that work.

Mountain Creek Ski Resort - very pricey. Packages begin at $65pp and go up to $90 pp. Also, they do not have any weekends available from August to November.

For the following options the per person price includes tax, gratuity, and incidentals (decorations, name tags, etc.) Bartenders are usually needed to serve soft drinks as well. Any money leftover after paying the final bill will be used to pay for dover73.com website. If folks want other additions prices will increase. Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks, Patty

1.  Picatinny Arsenal - $57.00 pp Dinner buffet includes 3 salad choices, 3 entree dishes, potatoe and veggie/ chef's choice, varied desserts, chocolate fountain*, carving station*, bartenders and cash bar.

2.  Randolph Diner - $55.00 pp - Dinner buffet includes 1 salad, 1 pasta w/sauce, 1 chicken and 1 fish entree dish, carving station, 1 potato choice, mixed and seasonal veggies, 1 dessert choice, 2 bartenders, cash bar, tax, gratuity and incidentals. No chocolate fountains available.

3.  Cinders Wood Fire Grill - 3 options available

A.  Dinner buffet - $67.00 pp - Antipasto display (approx 10), 3 salads, 1 appetizer choice, 1 pasta choice, 3 entree dishes, 1 starch choice, 1 veggie choice, dessert (cake or various fruit and pastries), chocolate fountain*, bartender and cash bar. Carving station available at market price.(not included here)

B.  Cocktail Party - $67.00 pp - This is set up with smaller tables meant to keep people up and mingling. Includes 10 cold stations, 2 hot stations, 6 hors d'oeurves, dessert (cake or various fruit and pastries) chocolate fountain, bartenders and cash bar. Carving station also available (not included here)

C.  All Across the USA BBQ - $61.00 pp - Includes 6 salads, 6 entrees off the grill (burgers, hot dogs, ribs, etc.), 5 sides, 5 accompaniments (lettuce, tomatoe, kraut, etc.) and condiments, dessert (melon, berries, brownies, and gelato), chocolate fountain, 2 bartenders. Carving station available (Not included here)

* Chocolate fountains and carving stations are add ons EXCEPT for Randolph Diner, whre it is included in price of buffet.

One more thing about the venue pricing. These are prices I have worked out on my own from price lists that have been sent to me. These may go up or down but should be a good estimate.

Great work Patty!  I don't mind any of the options you have shared.  I do like the idea of the cocktail tables, which will keep people moving, as opposed to being stationary at a table.  I loved what we had at Picatinny Arsenal, but felt glued at my seat....that was probably why I didn't eat much that night...I was too busy visiting each table to say hello to everyone!  And I always love the casual BBQ, burgers, hot dog option....I think that combo was an option.  Let's see what others have to say.  Can't wait!!

Hi Patty, I agree with Randy but was not at the last reunion and have no idea how everyone mingled. I like the idea of the smaller tabled cocktail idea. I think that all of those prices are reasonable - don't you?

Those all sound really good but all the options at Cinders sound the best.  Open to any of the 3 there.  I think we were treated pretty well at Picatinney as well last time.

I'm driving in from New Mexico so I will be there.

Cinders sounds good to me. Either option at Cinders is fine

Cinders sounds good

Enid Waxler (McDonough)

If everyone is comfortable with the cost, the cocktail option at Cinders sounds great.  I eat there with my mom often and the food is good.  However, please know that I am fine with any package that includes a chocolate fountain. heart
