Peter Demetrion, 38, was killed in Skowhegan, Maine, when his motorcycle collided with a car. Born in Springfield, Peter lived in East Longmeadow most of his life. He was a 1964 graduate of East Longmeadow High School and a 1968 graduate of Northampton Commercial College.
From 1973 until 1979 he was co-owner and operator of the Pizza Place in Indian Orchard. He was a communicant of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Luke. He leaves his mother, Stella F. Demetrion of East Longmeadow and two brothers, Philip J. of Washington, DC and James C. of Belchertown. The funeral will be Tuesday in the church, with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Peter and I were best friends in High School, we also learned guitar together and every summer we went to the Cape and got jobs to stay there all summer. Peter was like a brother to me and we were very close since my own brothers had died. He was best man at my wedding and I'll always have such great memories of him.
