In fact, I think I had a different secret crush after every period in high school my senior year... Just kidding guys, I'm just being a pain in the ass. :)

Mario!

Oh, yes, I remember that incident with the bat. You did me a favor..... I was never destined to be a catcher. It was pretty cool, as I remember, because that whole summer I had two black eyes. Got lots of sympathy votes and I blamed it all on my brother. It all worked out brilliantly.

Hey, all.......has anybody heard from Michael Barrett? Or Bill Thompson?

Cristine Marie Hafen

Ah, Rik, the truth comes out! Ok, well, lets see..... Mr. (Dr.?) Estrada......I think alot of us girls had a crush on him because he was, well, interesting (so sad to see he's no longer with us). Coach Ottman. Fer sure! He's living in the Denver area. He's a good friend of my brother right now and doing great. And I think I'll plead the 5th as far as you Burges boys go (mainly because I grew up with alot of you guys and after I thought about it........it was like having a crush on your brother! har har har).

Elizabeth Abilez (Abilez)

Ok this is Liz. I havent been able to really devote a whole lot of time to this great place of ours. I am stuck with a really really slow computer due to a power outage about a month ago when a trampoling was blown into some power lines by some 60mph winds. YES it was that windy...
Anyway...I am on the Poki Roni committee. And the girls and I were just jabbering away and somehow booze came up. Oh I thats right we were also talking about the Liquor/beer situation for the Saturday party. The word "shots" came up. I do so remember those fabulous times in Juarez and house parties around a table with Becky and Melissa. How many of you remember what to check for with the quarter? THATS right ladies and gentlemen,,,check to make sure no one has put it to a pencil!!!! Do you remember now?! I would come home and just hit the bed and not clean my face only to wake up with a stupid pencil line down my nose and my mom asking me "what the hell?" She sure didnt think it was drugs or atleast thats what i gather since she didnt drill my ass to the ground PLUS I was with the always reliable and dependable Becky and Melissa! We would NEVER do anything illegal now would girls?!
And one more thing...I am in charge of baking and decorating the cake for poki roni.Anyone willing to suggest a picture or words. Lisa suggested a mustang. The colors will of course be purple and yellow. Nothing fancy just a plain good ole fashioned cake. Oh and I am not puting any filling. Let me know!

What ever happend to Lance? I remember his car. Speaking of survey questions...WHO HAD THE MOST BAD ASS CAR? I dont remember anyone in particular. I worked at machine shop so NOW cars are really interesting.
Ironically speaking of secret crushes and someone looking for Micheal Barrett, he was one secret crush.
HEY Becky I remember you and the very brave and bold and courageous times you tried to teach me to drive your el camino. I remember the hill at cielo vista mall by the Celina apartments. I used to live there so it stayed a very pleasant memory to have.
Who had mustangs?

GO REDSOX!!!!!
I went to Boston for the 4th of July and it was a blast!!! My dad took all of us who could go for the annual family trip. We went to go see Boston AT the Yankee stadium. It was very cool to be sitting with yankees all around and cheering for the Redsox! That was damn cool! I love Boston. If I could of at the time I would of moved. Then I realized-winter with blizzards and 10 feet of snow and I dont mix!
Not to mention I didnt want to pay an additional 30,000 for a parking space!
If any of you have the chance GO!!! Go to New York and Cape Cod in the summer. The humidity is not as bad as is Washington DC around the 4th.

Liz, I'd say my favorite car during high school was Chuck Stones Daytona Z. Ok, it was his dad's car, but he'd bring it to school every blue moon instead of his silver minivan. To answer a question posted a few days ago, Victor's white car was a honda prelude.

What did you do at the machine shop? It's hard to find a really good machine shop nowadays, so we're fortunate with who we use here in Austin.

as you may guess, i'm kind of a car enthusiast, too ;) just a little.

Rebecca Zambrano (Morales)

Lizzie,
My El Camino was awesome. I miss that car. You know I actually named it? I loved that it was standard and i do remember teaching you how to drive it. I learned how to drive it at the bottom of a steep hill on Surety drive off clark. I remember the first day I decided to drive it to school I kept popping the clutch and Susie Lopez, who already told me she will not be going to the reunion, had to jump from Dina Flores' IROC Z to my car to get me to school. Embarrasing stuff always happens to me. I will have to post the picture of me and my beloved El Camino. It is the only picture I will ever have of me with my beloved car. Do you by any chance have any pics of it?

Favorite bad ass car? I think some guy named tony had a two tone old car. The guys from the shop would work on it. I am really bad with car names but it kind of resembled a pt cruiser. Victor Arrambide had a nice ride if I remember and didn't Evelyn too? I have to say though, My El camino was cool.

Lizzie, Cant believe you are bringing that on the forum. "thats some good S--- man" So lucky we didn't get busted. Good times. LOL

So is anyone up for lunch or dinner either the june 30th , july 1 or 2nd?

You all need to go to my profile! I actually found a picture of my El Camino. I took a picture of it the day I traded Beto in.

Hey Ms Hafen.... just fyi... I was emailing Bill Thompson last month.. He is in Mckinney, Tx and doing well. You can send him email.. He'll respond.

Michael Barrett is in San Antonio, I'll send you his email. Spoke to his mom last week.

Hey Becky Lunch or dinner...you name it!
Chris we'll see you Thursday...

But how about Most Embarrassing Moments... ?

** Mine was right before a basketball game. I had been on the black list with Coach Wilson the Varsity boys coach for weeks and finally he was going to let me start! I am so excited i pull my break away warm ups off about half way and notice ... you guessed it NO SHORTS!! I had to run back in during the warm ups and complete my uniform. I am sharing that now but so glad no one knew except Coach Cheney....

Christine Seelig

I have to agree with most of you about Victor's car. I also think Joe's nova was great too. I had that lil brown VW bug that used about 10 bucks in gas and it lasted forever, hell now its more like 60 bucks and lasts a couple of days. Hell I miss those days. Did anyone get in touch with Sandy Diaz de Leon? who remembers her mom being the get-a-way car after toilet papering Ross? That was the shit. Who remembers the last day of school going from middle school to high school at the guys house off of Pennsylvania Circle?

As far as crushes yessss, Coach Ottman (Even Coach McCutcheon would check him out), wowzers!!! As far as high school crushes I lost all that due to dating a guy from Parkland. What I also remember like it was yesterday was beating Hanks in volleyball at the Burges tournament and it took forever I know I was worn out after that tourney. Those were awesome days.

Rene, how is your bro Francisco? Kid, don't forget to call me when you get in town and I'm up to meeting anyone and every one when they come down this week and upcoming weekend. Just give me a call 915-253-9217 and is it Aceitunas Thursday? I have to work but I can shoot over there afterwards about 10pm. Let me know.

Any of you remember Judy Fields? Did you all know that Ronnie the book lady is still there and she doesn't look aged at all, guess its the beans...lol.

Anyone heard anything from Chuck? I told his mom about everything and forwarded her the information but nothing. I will walk down the street this weekend and remind her.

Chris:

My brother is living in Miami. He's doing great!

Cristine Marie Hafen

Jeff Brewer, Hi'ya! Ya look great and I enjoyed reading about how well you are doing.

Thanks for the info on Bill and Mike. Get those guys in on all of this. Is Mike Barrett still singing and doing his band thing? My mother wants to know (she's as interested in how all you guys are doing as I am, I think. She still thinks of you all as "her kids".) Has he cut his hair?

We all have to get Chuck Stone in on all of this stuff. Dan Pedroza......you told me a little bit about him. Get him on the phone and tell that guy to go to this web site! Come back, Chuck!

Elizabeth Abilez (Abilez)

hey Dan...ok I was the secretary/bookkeeper at my husbands shop. i also would magnaflux heads and blocks, we used glass beads as part of the cleaning process (i was really good)i would order parts, pick up and deliver engines,i was too short to do the valves on my husbands machine! My husband could do magic with his engines. He used to race at the speedways here in el paso and las cruces.
Oh and heres a helpful tip with all who get their oil changes at wal-mart or anywhere. BEFORE YOU LEAVE CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOUR DIPSTICK AND OIL CAP ARE ON. The goofball at walmart didnt do this so I drove off only to have my sons car bust out in white smoke. So now it looks like the engine has seized up and they wont pay.

ok you guys had a crush on mrs. valenzuela? I didnt have a crush on any teacher. Mr. Winstead was still there up till a few years ago i think. That man tore my hit parade magazine out of my hands because it was the devil!

I called up Coach Fields when I moved back home to San Antonio and had lunch with her about 8 years ago. She looked great and very happy. Still coaching. She and Coach Alsup were great coaches and positive people in my life. Where is Coach Alsup theses days? Anyone know?

06/28/08 03:15 PM #421

Elizabeth Abilez (Abilez)

Hey coach Alsup was a cool person. I liked his character. I never saw him really loose it even a little. Who remembers Coach Patsey Smith? She is a principal at formerly Cordova Middle School. The school name changed due to Cordova being caught in a bribe scam in the episd. I got to work with her for a year there. She was pretty good at her job. She put me in alternative towards the end of the year. Kids hated me! Students said I was tooo tough and mean and strict! So then I was on the other side of the fence or desk in this case as far as teachers that are going to be talked about.;)

Becky wasnt your el camino goldish brown?

06/28/08 06:03 PM #423

Christine Seelig

Elizabeth, I remember Patsy Smith and i'm glad she is doing well as a administrator, sorry to say she wasn't much of a Basketball coach but I wish her the best.

Rene, glad to hear your brother is doing well tell him I said hi.

Wow I am amazed that none of my girls (former teammates) are saying anything on here. Come on, when is Alma, Mirella, Vanessa, Jennifer, Shelly, and the rest of the crew gonna speak up. I went to the 50 yr. anniversary and it was awesome, I attended the volleyball game that night with others like Teresa Grant, Robert Silva (Haack), Frances Lupo , etc. and wow did we get a awesome ovation. Its like the fans knew of successes even 20+ years ago. It was like winning district all over again. Anyhow, the reality is, after rotator cuff surgery and putting on the weight I can never kill the ball like I use to so I decided to pick up setting, man Alma you had a hard job on the court.

Let's party this week, i'm EXCITED!!!!!

I have no idea how to respond to Mario's unwarranted, cowardly attack on my character. To imply that I drank a few too many is an outrage.

OK, it was a fun trip and those photos look bad now. Probably looked bad then too.
