Fifty years later, the 1966 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Game, Texas Western vs. Kentucky, remains as one of the most famous in sports history.
As the tributes and celebratory events of the 50th Anniversary of the 1966 National Championship continue to take place all over the country, a special presentation will be featured on ESPN.
The original black-and-white broadcast of the game that changed history, which aired on March 19, 1966, will be re-aired in “Making History: The 1966 NCAA Championship – Texas Western vs. Kentucky” on Wednesday, March 30th at 7:30 p.m. EST on ESPN.
The 90-minute presentation will also feature the audio call of Walt Sullivan; an interview with Texas Western’s David Lattin; original photos, courtesy of former Sports Illustrated photographer Rick Clarkson, and more.
