We lost power on Mon. at 6:30 and it came back on Sun. at 6. We had hot water and I could cook on the gas stove top. I did a lot of grilling on my little charcoal hibachi. But all in all we were lucky. No damage to our property.I threw out everything in the freezer. No sense taking a chance on getting sick. I have lived in Elmont my whole life and have never seen it so bad. The problem now is getting gas for our cars. We filled up before the storm. One car is almost empty so we switched to the other car.

We were SO lucky! We live on Second Avenue between 40th & 41st Street. We never lost power, nothing. One block away, on 39th Street and all the way down town, they had no power for days.

There were people in our lobby just sitting there charging their phones, computers, etc. There were also people who live in a sister building of ours, about 2 blocks away, and since they had no power, they were allowed to come to our building and take showers in empty apartments.

I know people who STILL don't have power, one man I know lives in Hicksville. A woman I know who lives in Long Island had a backyard tree fall on her house, but there was only minor damage to her roof, not bad. Another woman I know still has no power, & she lives in New Jersey.

We were very, very lucky!!!laugh

My husband waited on line for 3nd a half hours to fill his car up yesterday.

The people across the street don't have power. My friends in Franklin Square and Seaford(north of Southern State) still do not have power.

Now we have a Nor''Easter.. It is 32 degreees and snowing. Many inches of snow on grass, cars and streets. The lights keep flickering. This was not predicted. It was suppose to be rain and wind.Snow was suppose to be inland.

Virginia Theroux (Heacox)

Hello from Virginia (Ginger) Theroux Heacox.

Sympathy and prayers to the family of Theresa Surace. There definitely is a sweet new angel in Heaven. It has been a while since I've been in touch. I think a 45th reunion would be great! I wonder if there is any way to streamline preparations so that the planning isn't as involved. Sometimes I think that's what keeps us from getting together. Is there any interest in designating a central location but gathering for meals more informally? This type of planning is not my strength, but if you told me we were going to be on Long Island over a certain weekend I'd suggest renting the dinner side of Umberto's Pizza on Jericho Tpke and everyone take care of their own accomodations. It's the catching up that is the most fun, and less formality might work. Any thoughts? Now that we are living in the Hilton Head area of S. Carolina we are just minutes away from our daughter, son-in-law and two young grandchildren. It's so different from when Al and I were on the other side of the country from Elmont and all the family. Wishing you all what really matters in this New Year. Happy Birthday to the many friends whose special day will get by me...every day is special and so are YOU!

We could have the reunion at Terrace on the Park , at the old Worlds Fair grounds . It is a catering hall and used to be the Port Authority building for the fair , perhaps you remember the helicopters landing on the roof ! Just a thought . We shouid be open to any an all locations

My sister Fran is trying to do a Leader Corp reunion with ALL the leader girl corp girls from every year. She graduated in 60 and my sister Terry graduated in 75. We have our yearbooks and were able to find names but she could use the  email addresses from our year(the dirty dozen). If you are in touch with LC girls from other years and know email adresses please send them to me through our website.

Does anyone remember the actual name of the place we went to in Pawling? I'm sure it had a name but we just said we were going to Pawling.

My sister has set up a website www.EMHSLeaderCorp.org.  If you were in LC please take a look at it.

Thanks!

OK, for those of you not on FB, this one of the locals. This was Sunday morning, while having breakfast on the patio. The bottom of my bird feeders are 8-ft from the ground.

I'm here! I keep checking for messages but everyone seems to have disappeared.

Den and I just got back from a riverboat cruise on the Danube River from Budapest to Bucharest. Very rainy!

The Balkans are very interesting! We were in Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania.

Glad everyone has time to travel.  I am crazy busy running our inn. Today we adopted 8 week old twins (boy and girl) kids!   Look for pics on Adirondack Tumble Inn on facebook.  My vacation was last weekend to attend Brian's graduation from U  Buffalo.  Now has a Master's in architectural design.  Now we just need a job!  I guess I will have to live another 6 yrs to see everyone at our 50th!

Carrie - I frequently check the web site, but nobody's there!  Your trip sounds great.

Nancy - I haven't been anywhere and don't have any plans.  I wanted to go up to NY for a St. Boniface reunion in June, but it was cancelled.

Barbara - Let's do lunch!

Sabina

Well, I just retired at the end of April - so that is my news. My husband and I are planning a trip for the fall - not finalized yet, but looks like Spain, Portugal, and Morocco since my stepson will be on sabbatical in Barcelona teaching at a University there.

Carrie, I see I still need to look for that Dirty Dozen photo!
