I'm so sorry I couldn't make it. From the looks of the pix and the comments it sounds like everyone had a blast!!! In retrospect, I really think we were a great bunch of kids. Can't wait to see more.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the committee.

It was amazing how the good times and laughs of 40 years ago simply continued.

Let me echo everyone's comments - the reunion was fantastic! Thank you to the reunion committee for all your hard work in putting the event together - it was great seeing all who were there.

To all who attended, and to all who didn't, let's hope we can get together again in 5 years!

Hey, where did everybody go to? Aside from a few people who checked in right after the reunion to say how great it was, this site has been rather silent. Since we will all be forever connected thru our high school experiences, I thought it would be great to keep this site going by turning it somewhat into a I want; I need; I'm into (hobby) - are you?, etc. Anyone have any thoughts on this idea? I'll even come back later today and start it off.

Hi Everyone,

I can't believe great it was to see everyone at the reunion! As someone said in an earlier post, "The memories flowed" It is a good feeling to remember the good old days and the people from back then. The funny thing is: everyone is still the same after all these years! I would like to also thank Billy and Joanne and the rest of the organizers. You did an awesome job.

I promised to come back with an "I'm into (hobby) - are you?". So here goes. Is anyone out there a collector of animated art? I have one of the largest collections in the country of early Hanna Barbera TV animation from the late 1950s thru mid 1970s (ie - Flintstones, Jetsons, Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, etc). While my collection spans drawings, cels, scripts, etc., in recent years I have been leaning toward original storyboards. I was wondering if anyone in our class might also have a passion for animated art. If so, I'd love to start up a conversation with you.

The reunion was wonderful & I thank all who helped organize it. Staying up until 3 AM is not something I do on a regular basis & I spent the week yawning. Seeing people I haven't seen in 40 years made it seem as if no time had past at all. Bill, what did you decide to do with the extra money? Developing some kind of charitable fund is a wonderful idea.
Roy, I collect children's picture books & I have a number of favorite authors.

Hi, I'm back from Florida after celebrating my moms 89th bday. I spent the weekend with my older brothers Maurice and Frank and told them all about the reunion. Frank told me that I had introduced him to Kathleen Sullivan in High School and he dated her for several months. It upset him greatly to her about her passing. Maurice told me his 40th was in the High School cafeteria( can you believe that!) and he said it was awful, no booze too! We spent the whole weekend talking about, do you remember, this one and that one and who they saw later and who was doing what. We were all 2 years apart, graduating in 1968,66,64, so we knew allot of kids.
I've emailed Bill and told him about ideas I had for this site and how we can keep our community together. I will put those ideas into writing in the next days and email everyone with ideas for 1968 EMHS.

Hey everyone-just got back to Los Angeles last night after a hectic week in New York. I can't even begin to tell you what a great time I had at the reunion and the joy I felt seeing all of you. The memories we shared that night were not to be believed and I offer my sincerest thanks to the reunion committee for an outstanding evening. I went to the 40th reunion for Valley Stream Central on Nov. 1st and while it was fun, ours "blew the doors off" theirs. To all the people I shared hugs and laughs with and to all those who were fortunate enough to attend, the memories and relationships will always be a vital part of my life. I wouldn't have missed it for the world!!!!! Love you all! Mitch Bohn

Hello Everyone,
There have been lots of thank yous to the committee for the job we did in setting up the reunion, so I've decided to appoint myself a spokesman for the committee and say "you're welcome" to everyone - and we couldn't have done it without you!
By the way - I noticed Roy's posting about his collection. It made me smile, because I remember that Roy had a huge collection of rubber bands when we were kids. I still remember a newpaper photo of Roy next to his giant rubber band ball - I think it was in either the LI Press or Newsday. Well, I guess he's certainly moved up a couple of steps: from rubber bands to one-of-a-kind comic art.

I think for the next reunion we all should bring our yearbooks. We could get people that did not sign our book when we were in school sign them then.
I hope that everyone had a good time.
Let's make the next one even better.
Sorry, I did not get to talk to more people but there just was not enough time.
The next one we need to do maybe a picnic one day and people could bring the families. the next day we could do a luncheon for the classmates only.
Everyone needs to come up with ideas on where and when we should do the next reunion. Maybe we won't wait five years.
Best Wishes to everyone
PAT

Miggy - Thanks for remembering my rubberband ball. The story of its existence, size and history were both in the Long Island Press and Newsday. The kicker is that I still have the ball in my office. It's now 50" in circumference and it's quite a conversation piece. No, I don't work on it anymore.
Re: upcoming reunions - I had 2 long telephone conversations with Debbie Helfand (Hi Debbie!!) and in one of them I mentioned to her that next Spring or Summer we should have regional reunions - 1 in the NY-NJ area; 1 in Florida and 1 in California. Those are the major areas where most classmates seem to be. Then each can decide which one or more than one to go to. Any comments?

it is no wonder you are in advertising...it is a lot of fun to read your words and you are extremely playful, and make ordinary things into great little games.. I am so happy to know you pal.

PS: weren't you in Mr. Furnari's class with me (omigod, that man was never the same poor guy)

And Bill - yes, I was in Mr. Funari's class with you. I went back and looked at what he signed in my yearbook. Could someone explain what he wrote? " God's blessings and success to Roy who made big contributions in class once he controlled his emotions". Without turning this into "dump on Roy", was I an emotional jackass in high school and just can't remember. I always thought I was one of the good guys!!

Dear EMHS '68
this is why we are so great and this what we are all about...let's take care of another one of our own....the following is from Judi Wander sent Oct 23, 2008

Dear Billy, I am sorry for the delay. I cannot attend the reunion unfortunately. As you know, I live in Ca.I have also suffered a massive heart attack and after flatlining twice I also suffered some brain damage. I am in rehab and doing better but I need to stay close to home. I have no famiy in New York and I get a little confused by myself. My long term memory in still in tact, it's my short term that was affected by my heart attack. I still remember how my heart used to pitter pat whenever I saw your green eyes and blonde hair. Have a great time. My home email is flashjudephoto@yahoo.com

Well If anyone has any Seeds they would like to share with me or plant ideas I would love to hear them. I know there are probably not many of you that grow plants or flowers but am just sharing my hobby with you all!

Ilana Glassman

Hi everyone. Time for me to chime in. I had an absolutely delightful time at the reunion; wanted to add my thank yous to all the organizers. Lots of my Elmont memories are tied in with my dad. If you don't know, he was Mr. Glassman, 10th grade biology. He died in 1987, and it was WAY too early. He was an amazing human being, who taught me what unconditional love means. I still miss him, and especially whenever I think about Elmont.
Thanks to Joanne for creating the newsletter -- what a lovely idea! When I talk to other people about the reunion, they're surprised at the love and warmth that we still have 40 years later. Big class, but a wonderful one. Let's keep that going. Love you all!
Steve, you were going to get me Mark Lederway's email, and Billy, you were going to get me Jan Oxenberg's. My email is ilana50@yahoo.com.
Great to see everyone. Keep writing!
