Sadly, our Ridgefield friend, Pat Smith, passed away on October 19. I am including a link here for her obituary, which appeared in The Daily Times on October 22, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill, in February.

Dear Pat in heav en,
We were neighbors in Ridgefield and were in the same class. I remember how I loved going to your house at night to study. You taught me how to study and showed me how to break down math and Latin to something doable. This was in Junior high-7th and 8th grade. I will never forget those times. It was like opening up a whole new world of information. You were my mentor.
A long time passed and you came to the 50th reunion where we caught up again. How sad to learn of your passing. Because you were so willing to help you leave behind fond memories and a lingering wish that we could have been in more frequent contact after high school years.
Dear Pat, rest in peace and thank you for your dear soul.
Deepest sympathy to your family,
Barbara Rahner Reese

The news of the passing of Pat Smith was very sad for me. The relations between the Smith family and our family go back to times before I got to know Patty at Ridgefield JHS. Her Father and my Dad had business relations going back many years. I will remember Pat as a serious student and engaged person. My sincere condolence to her children and other family members.
