I'm going to bring "the scrapbook" and I found issues of The Sting that I saved (OMG!) that I will bring....what is everyone else bringing?????

Is there gonna be a cash bar or should I byob? I told Cathy I'd buy her a drink so want to make sure I keep my promise!

Cathy Myers (McCandless)

Shawn, love that you keep promises. I'm getting pumped up to see everyone. I can't wait to see Kristy...funny we have to come back to Eureka to see each other when I'm close enough now to ride my bike to her house:)

Dragging husband along...dress is business casual I hear....right?

Jenny Stoller (Baer)

Dress is definitely business casual--we want to be comfortable.
The alcohol issue is a little confusing. It is BYOB. When you enter the room, they will "take" the alcohol from you and ask if it is for just you or if you are wanting to share with others. When you want a drink, you have to go to them and they will serve you your drink. Weird, I know, but we're playing by their rules.
Can't wait!

Oh my gosh! I guess I haven't spent enough time on this website as I just now found all of these posts and GREAT memories! I am with many of you as I don't remember alot of things that people were bringing up, but I didn't do ANYTHING in high-school! I waited until after high-school! I do remember Randy's first incident with the ambulance in Grade School! I didn't have to get the shot that Torry was asking about, but I do remember getting the chicken pox vaccine one year. I remember making the cheerleading squad in 8th grade and thinking someone was playing a joke! I remember someone singing PRINCE on the volleyball bus and having to run sprints at practice the next day. I sort of remember the Chicago trip...FLW rings a bell, but the police escort escapes me. I remember Shawn Staley's crush on Mr. Jensen and Torry's on Ms. Hampton (she is dearly missed). Somewhere, there is a Time capsule from our class. I wonder if Ms. Blunier would know about it. There is a video and everything! I have the video of the Grease play! Will we have a VHS there? Can't wait to see everyone Saturday!

Since it's that time of year (football & marching band season), does anyone remember the Beatles marching band set? I was watching our HS during band camp this week and heard Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. That brought back memories. I'm curious to know if it's the same show and if they'll march forward singing Hey Jude.

Tammy Engel (Haggard)

I think of marching band just about every time I hear a Beatles song. Oh, the good old days. Can't wait to talk to everyone about them this weekend.

I just wanted to say I had a really nice time at the reunion events this weekend! THANK YOU Reunion Committee for all your hard work! Driving around taking pictures of all our old houses (that was a neat idea!)- and the booklet turned out really nice! The games and stories shared was really fun! I was very happy to hear this website will continue! I've learned more about you all on this message forum then I did all during our school years! LOL!

Thanks to the reunion committee for ALL that you guys did! It was a great weekend! A good mix of "programs" and also free visiting time. The book was awesome, Rhonda! I was going to wait for my plane trip home to read it, but I couldn't wait, so I read it all yesterday.
Thanks again, for all the hard work. It was so nice to see everyone! Thanks to all who came! Have a great next few years and let's keep in touch! If anyone comes to Oregon, make sure and look me up!

Continuing on the reunion index card game...
Does anyone else remember the paddle for spanking in Mr. Logsdon's office? And, did anyone ever have it used on them? I really believed back then that they would use that if you were bad.

Does anyone from Congerville Grade School remember the bat in the coat room in 2nd grade?

Does anyone remember any songs from the Halloween program? "I've Been Working On My Costume" or: Around the block, and up the street...the ghosts and goblins and witches meet. We're here and there and everywhere: and all together we're gonna scare you = BOO!" I remember dressing up as a witch and singing that. I scared Debbie's mom, Mary Price. Anyone else remember stories?

From a VERY reliable source, I know that Kevin Bruley was paddled in 3rd grade more than once. One time was even by his teacher...who shall not be named. I remember being in the "outer office" once and hearing the paddle slammed on the desktop back in Wayne's office--scared the pants off me. My life at school would be A LOT easier if kids believed they might be spanked for misbehaving. You guys wouldn't believe the way they talk to teachers today. I say, "Bring back the paddle!"

Tammy Engel (Haggard)

I remember a certain fellow classmate getting the paddle in 2nd grade. The teacher had a bad back (or something like that) and a student was told to go get the 4th grade teacher who did the dead. I agree, kids need to fear the teachers more. I'm amazed to hear what comes out of their mouths sometimes.

I was paddled by Logston in grade school. I am thinking I was either in Kindergarten or First Grade. He used one of those bouncy ball paddle things but without the ball and string. It was the ONLY time I got spanked (at school anyway). I towed the line until later one when Peanut wouldn't dream of being able to lay a hand on me. I am all for the teachers at my kids' school to spank them at will! Even for nothing more than to remind them of who's in charge, lol....

Cathy Myers (McCandless)

I taught in Alabama for 5 years from 96-01 and they were still paddling kids...at the high school level too! They just came back to class red faced and mad. I witnessed quite a few paddlings there....if you walked by the office, a principal would stick his head out and say, "can you witness a paddling?" and then you had to. I hated that part. and our principal was strong! scary!

Brenda Wyse (Summers)

When I was student-teaching, one of my 6th graders made a wooden paddle for me and burned "The Wyse Persuader" into it for me. I've never actually used it in my classroom (or elsewhere for that matter), but perhaps I should hang it by my desk to strike fear into my 5th graders. (They are SO not scared of me!)

All the leaves are brown (the leaves are brown) and the sky is gray (and the sky is gray).....

I wanted to let Shawn know how impressed I am with the articles recently written about her health issues. I was impressed with the fact she willing put out there about her health and past issues that obviously none of us knew about to help others. I commend you Shawn on your strength and pray for healing in regards to some of the issues you had to deal with as well as a strong voice to reach out and help others. Kudos!!

Thanks Jennifer! I appreciate your kind words!

Anyone have a favorite "dress up day" memory? Or a favorite school event memory? I always enjoyed the candy cane messages that they did each year...

Not sure about Dress up Days...but the class games were sure fun to watch...the spinning with the bat...was it Jill that drank the baby bottle and won? Anyone remember if and what years our class won the class games?

Wow! You guys have great memories. Makes me realize how much I've forgotten! I only remember one dress up day and that was because I have a picture of it -- I was a punk rocker. Yikes!

And the candy cane messages! How fun! I had forgotten all about those too. Those simple things were a lot of fun.

At the reunion someone asked about Chad Heffren. I recently saw him in an interview on the news about the Havana football team, which he coaches, making it to the HS playoffs. Apparantly he stayed in Havana.

Hey there classmates. Well, it's been a little more than 6 months since the reunion and I hope all are doing good. It's been fun catching up with everyone. Remember to check back once in awhile and keep your info up to date. Talk to everyone soon!

Does anyone know what ever happened to Mrs Quinn, our Senior English teacher?  I've finally finished my first book, the first in a series, and am half way done with the second.  I'm very proud of it and will be sending it off to the publishing houses soon.  Hopefully someone will be willing to pick it up!  It took me over 20 years, but I've finally followed through on that promise I made Mrs Q decades ago and wanted to share it with her...  If you're on facebook, come and check it out (although it's still a work in progress).  My "pen name" is Sydney Raine.  It would be awesome to see familiar names from my past when I log in!  Check it out (if you're interested) at http://t.co/pg7wT42   And I am seriously wondering about Mrs Q....  If you have any information, I'd love it if you would share!

Thanks all!

Erin
