LOL! I'll have to bring a bedsheet with me to teach everyone: it's easier to show then tell! Turn the bedsheet so the fitted seams are facing away from you. Put your fists into the sheet of two seams and place one seam/fist over the other. Then while one fist has those two seams/move down and place your other fist in the lower seams. Then repeat by placing one fist of seams over the other. You should now have one rounded corner of seams. Then I tri-fold so that it makes of rectangle, fold in half and store. Thanks Mrs Vogel! Of course you could always do the tried and true method and just roll it up into a ball and toss in the drawer/linen closet! HA HA!

I took that class as well. And it definitely helped teach me how to fold sheets. Better method... take off bed, wash and dry and put back on bed. No folding necessary. :) OK, that doesn't work for everyone, but it makes things easier for me. And I really enjoyed the cooking! Home Ec and Drafting were my favorite, but not so much the Ag class.

Cheri Miller (Armstrong)

Okay, I missed out on those classes. Thankfully, Tammy did explain the sheet folding to me in our short time as roommates. However, like her, I take them out of the dryer and put them back on the bed.

Probably should've taken Home-Ec. I didn't really learn how to cook (other than baking) until I got married. Remember calling my Mom about every other day to ask how to make something she always made, and her response was always, add a little bit of this and a little bit of that. How much is a little bit???

Anyone wish they had taken different classes? I wish I'd taken more Spanish Classes with Mrs. Hampton and Art (Mrs. Cramer turned me off art in junior high).

Cathy Myers (McCandless)

I took Biology I with Vogel--and ended up getting a lot of home ec in that! We made the cafeteria pizzas quite a bit.

Now that I'm an English teacher, I wish I had read some of the assigned books. I only read Lord of the Flies and 1984--they whole thing. I read a lot of 1/2 books--Moby Dick, Sister Carrie, Scarlet Letter, Old Man and the Sea. And why didn't we read some classics like To Kill a Mockingbird and Of Mice and Men?

I wish I had taken more Accounting classes (maybe then I could balance my check book on the first try! LOL! Sorry Mr. Steinbeck, Accounting I just wasn't enough!).

I wish I hadn't taken/done: all the "General" classes for an easy grade, Ag with Mr. Hickenbottom!, or Computers with Ms. Tesdall (she was a good teacher but we goofed off more than learned - also they were Apple computers and my first job after high school had IBM's so all that learning in school didn't help me!), and I wish I hadn't read romance books inside my Geometry book during Mr. Cross' class!

I wish I had paid attention more in school, both high school and college. I should have realized there would be plenty of time for socializing after college. And like Cathy, I wish I had read more instead of trying to get all of the answers out of those cliff notes. Also, I wish I had taken more Spanish, and taken more in college. It would have been very useful in business if I was bilingual. As they say....would-a, could-a, should-a. :D

I think high school should happen in your early 30s. By then you are ready to settle down and learn because you WANT to. Much more effective!

Looking forward to the reunion! It will be nice to see you all again! Thanks to all those who are planning it for us all to enjoy!

I bumped into Kim White and Jr. Garcia in the same day, and it hit me--didn't they graduate with us?

So the classmates over on Facebook have been talking about the death of Michael Jackson. Talk about an 80's icon. I still remember a few classmates working on their moon walking skills in junior high, while wearing parachute pants. Then there was the singing of "We Are the World" in 8th grade. Hard to believe that was almost 25 years ago.

Anyone know where we could find some parachute pants??

Kristy Hohulin (Glendinning)

I cannot believe that MJ died?!!? I have been reliving his songs all weekend and I cannot believe he was 50!! Where has the time gone. Does anyone remember Renee's birhtday party and PYT?? Parachute pants... hmmm. I think Char Newhauser had a pair in middle school.

I haven't read this in a while but wanted to let you know Becky Anderson moved to Olympia her senior year and I am not sure where to after that, but I remember she was an amazing runner and we missed her on the track team.

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone in a matter of just weeks. I hope everyone has had a great summer so far. It's been a busy one, but a good one. The committee is very excited about the upcoming event. And...it's bound to be a GREAT weekend! So, pack your digital cameras, your address books, everything you need to catch up with old friends. And, bring those family pictures, share those photos here. We want to see what you have been up to for the last 20 years!

I was cleaning out a file, and I found part of the script for our ACS project. Does anyone have a videotape of that? It would be fun to see!

Renae Edwards (Dietrich)

I was looking at the middle school pictures and saw Candy Schrock. What every happened to her?? Or Kevin Bruley??

Andree Hohulin (Shearer)

Just wondering - are most of you bringing spouses or not?

08/08/09 09:11 PM #114

Shawn Oesch (High)

Candy Schrock moved to Sterling, IL at the beginning of our high school years. She graduated from Sterling High in 1990 instead of '89 due to more surgeries she needed and they held her back a year. My dad and I went up there on her graduation day...it was nice! The last time she contacted me was in 2002 and she is/was MARRIED to a man named Troy who copes with a similar disability and last name is now Wicks. I tried the phone number I had for her a couple years ago and it was no longer her number. If anyone else knows more recent news, please let me know! Thanks!

Andree - I'm bringing my EX-spouse (how's that one for ya!) Not because he's still the great love of my life but because he's my designated driver! HA HA! Seriously, I don't drive well at night so he's cheaper than a cab from Eureka to Bloomington: all I had to do was buy him dinner! Are there any male escort services around - I could probably find a man younger and cuter than Scott! Naw, then they'd expect a big tip, never mind! LOL!

Cathy Myers (McCandless)

I was just thinking about Candy Schrock today! Weird! What about Val Roberstein? and who was the girl that lived accross from Sonya Edmunson, her name was Jennifer?? btw, what happened to Sonya?

08/11/09 10:50 PM #117

Erica Schoof (Asendorf)

Sonya's family moved to Delaware in 8th grade. They were our neighbors, and our parents stayed in touch. I don't know who you mean by the Jennifer that lived across the street. Was she in our grade?

Jenny Stoller (Baer)

I bumped into Val this spring at Busy Corner with her family. She moved with her mom when her parents split--I wanna say Texas, but I'm not sure. She's married, has kids, and looks exactly the same.

Eric Lockart

Hi everyone. Look forward to seeing all of you. As you know, the weekend of our reunion is the Eureka 150 year celebration and I'm just sending a reminder of the events. The events for that weekend are posted at www.eurekaillinois.net and then i think click on events or festivals. If any of you are bringing your kids or are looking for things to do fri/sat, it looks like there's plenty. There's a carnival, etc. so the kids may like it (i know, horror for us parents to spend like $100 on a few rides and corn dogs!). Anyway, look up the schedule if interested. they have bands, beer tents, food, craft sales, etc. and there's also a 5k trail race Sat. morning and it's a neat run for those joggers out there (don't worry, i've already called the ambulance to make sure they are there for me at the finish line). See you in a couple weeks. Eric

08/13/09 09:29 PM #120

Tammy Engel (Haggard)

I think Val moved to Montana for a bit. I also am not sure who the "Jen" is that was referred to in an earlier post.

Thanks Eric on the reminder about all of the great events happening next weekend. It will definitely be a good weekend for your family.

As for the question about the spouse, I'm dragging mine along. He's not overly crazy about the idea, but that goes with being married.

Can't wait to see everyone sometime during the weekend!!!
