Shawn, you've GOT to bring that scrap book to the reunion!

Since Robin mentioned earlier about bringing 1 item from high school, I will bring this scrapbook...it will be fun to go thru and see what I've captured: *here's a hint* (weddings/babies/John E's track success/Military service/Erica at First Bank of Eureka's picture/Amy Nohl and Char Neuhauser wearing Santa hat's in Lee's Hallmark Shop ad/Jayme's EC football team picture/Melissa's vie for Miss Woodford County/Phil's picture from a Bob Grimm ad and best of all, Keith Knepp in a cowboy hat with members of Team Texas for Relay For Life fundraiser...it's all in there!).

Shawn! You are amazing! I can't believe you collected all of those articles! I can't wait to see them! Hope they're in acid-free books, HA! We're getting old you know :-)

Thanks Holly! Unfortunately the album and it's pages are not technically up-to-date. It's an old album and what's worse is: I used SCOTCH TAPE to adhere the articles to the black paper page. Newsprint is starting to yellow and fade just as we are getting older and wrinkles more prominent! Ha Ha!

I had the wonderful opportunity to return to Congerville Grade School and see former classmates and teachers while celebrating the school's 100th birthday Saturday night. With the exception of Mrs. Bolby, the 3rd grade teacher, all the teachers were there! Mrs. Mary Sharp, the kindergarten teacher, (God bless her!) came from the nursing home in Eureka, IL. was wheelchair bound but still so full of smiles. Mrs. Linda Humphrey, the 2nd grade teacher, flew in from Arizona on Friday just to attend the festivities; and Mrs. Hobbs (oh the memories of this 4th grade teacher!) came up with family from the St. Louis area just so she could attend as well. Walking into that gym/cafeteria took me back to the memories of cake walks, holiday programs, book fairs, the Maypole Dance. I also recalled how long ago it all happened! Yet the amount of people that were there Saturday night just proved to me that while times and things have changed, and teachers come and go, the small-town community bond still continues. The memories of this school/it's teachers and classes, the small-town community feeling will last forever.

Everyone remember to SPRING forward this morning? I remembered to turn my clocks one hour ahead but I definitely wasn't very springy this morning!

Anyone doing anything fun over spring break?

Just found this forum and it is AWESOME!! I am so stuck in the eighties...the music, fast cars, big hair and care free life was so great. It is really cool reading about the good ole days. I was just visiting with Torry Steffen and we were talking about how cool it is to see how everyone has changed-hard to freaking believe how OLD we are getting. My youngest son is scared to look at a senior phot of me at my mom's house because I had so much hair then-he makes us take the phot down...I would give anything to have a head of hair like that again. Will chat more later. I won't be able to make the reunion since we will have just moved to Alabama.

Hey Mike! It's also been fun trying to REMEMBER what happened in the 80's - and we didn't even have Woodstock as an excuse! All we had was Michael Jackson and "We Are the World"...and it's hard to think of sex, drugs, and rock n roll with Michael Jackson. More like animals, plastic surgery and pop music....nope NOT good! Sorry to hear you won't be at the reunion...hope they keep this website open so we can all chat!

Class Clown went to...

Jason Cook and me! I remember proudly showing that trophy to my mother, who was mortified and said something like, "Why couldn't you win something respectable, like Most Likely to Succeed?" Thanks for the trophy, all! It's an awesome prize to mortify your parents in high school. It sounds like a lot of our parents would be mortified to read about some of the activities we engaged in. Cool.

Thanks for the memories, everybody! They are highly entertaining.

Hello Classmates!

If you read the previous post that I have now deleted, I apologize. This forum has been lots of fun reading the funny stories, but let's please keep it tasteful and fun (as everyone has until now).

Thanks,
Class reunion planners

Happy Easter, everyone! Hope you all have a great day of celebrating!

Shawn Oesch (High)

I want to wish everyone a safe and Happy Easter holiday!

I am grateful to all who choose to remember the good times and let the bad stuff go. I can only hope that we can all attend the reunion(s) overcoming the anxiety of appearances, past cliques/attitudes/behaviors...and accept everyone for who/what they are: children of God and old friends.

High school was many years ago, but I hope that we can remember the good times, and realize that we have all grown up since then. What used to seem oh-so-important (like spending 45 minutes in front of the mirror before stepping out of the house) and picking just the right group of friends to be with, doesn't seem as important now. I wish I had gotten to know some of you better back then, but I'm looking forward to the reunion. I'm anxious to hear what you've been up to the last 20 years. I'm hoping that everyone has had a great life, a successful life, in whatever you use to measure that. Success to me definitely means something different than it did a few years back. That all being said, please join us in August. We look forward to seeing everyone and hearing the "what have you been up to" stories. Bring your family photos, your stories and your laughter. It's going to be a great weekend and we want all of you there. High school was then, 20 years ago, we want to know what you have been doing since then. Til then, keep the happy posts coming! :o)

I really am not one to get on here and write anything, but kind of need to because I think you all have been duped. I'm not sure what the "Wes" message is and I think I may have been mentioned in THE message. Typical High School shenanigans. It was erased before I got a chance to read it. Whatever it said I think we all agree (except for the mystery "Wes") that we all have regrets from high school and wish we could do a lot over. I also think in high school there were a lot of misconceptions of what and who people really were. That being said, it was NOT Wes who posted that. We have been very good friends and talk regularly. We played golf this weekend when I was back home visting my parents. Any of you who know Wes would know that his "profile" is not even written by him. His wife(Sarah, who was a couple years behind us) said after Wes first logged in they have been unable to get back in. Some prankster has somehow been posting as Wes. Sarah is going to be talking to Jenny to try getting their e-mail and password correct. Whatever was said I hope it was not too hurtful. I also hope who did do it has the maturity to admit it or atleast let it be known it was not really Wes. Wes and I are grown men and not too worried about this prank. I just hope no one's feelings were hurt by the FOOL who thought this was funny or who may have actually not got over some type of high school grudge. That being said, I look forward to reading people's stories, but I think this will probably be it for me. I will get around to updating my profile some time soon unless the fake "Wes" has time and wants to do it for me. Wes (real one), you better not have done this in a drunkin stupor and not remember it because I just wasted alot of time you tool! I will see you next weekend for the Cubs v. Cards games. I look forward to seeing the rest of you at the reunion and take care all.

Thanks for the note Derek. I just have one thing to say.... GO CARDS!!!! See everyone in August...when the Cards are in first place!

Hello Everyone,

This has nothing to do with our class, but just wanted to pass on information about new local artists for anyone who is interested. They are a brother/sister trio from Eureka and have made a CD. They are donating their profits to human rights agencies. The website is http://www.canyouhearus.org/. If you click on the "Music/Store" tab at the top, you can listen to 2 of the songs. She wrote the songs and you can read about how they came about as well.

Reading Erins last post...what about all the Hickies on Mrs. Quinn's neck...all the turtle necks. That was a match we never could figure out back then..can anyone now?

I can still see Mr. Corpus falling off the crow's nest during marching band practice. I didn't know people would bounce if they fell from a high enough starting point. He was at the football game that night on crutches and his arm in a splint if I remember correctly! I guess the moral of the story is not to stand on the railing if you need a higher perspective. Thankfully he was okay!

How about picking up rocks off the baseball field during Mic's class? Or knowing that Savage was coming down the hall because you could smell the pipe smoke--he couldn't get away with that now. I remember freshman year having to retrieve my geometry books every day because upper classmen threw them out the (unscreened) 3rd story window--it took about two weeks before Tesdall caught them in the act and I stopped getting in trouble for being tardy. I think our current mayor was involved in that fiasco. Has the workshop of life trip been metioned yet? And the fact that Heidi had to carry around a bottle of Pepto the next day since she didn't purify the creek water before drinking it. And, of course, the shenanigans that went on backstage during musical performances--I'm lucky to not be scarred for life! I think a lot about Pete--what I learned from him, how important music is to me now because of him, and how darn good he looked in jeans! Sorry, truth must be spoken. Remember the song we wrote about him on our music folder and he SAW IT! Or the notes we had to write because we were misbehaving--"We such big time." Ahh--the good times! Enjoy Erin!

Some of my "fondest" memories:

* Mr. Griffith's static electricity machine.
* Mr. Simenc planting his feet on the floor and waving his hand over his head - "Whoo! There it goes...went right over your head, didn't it?"
* Mr. Hohulin's rendition of Lord of the Flies
* Mr. Hickenbottom and how fast he can talk...my first D grade: in Ag class! (I wonder if he's slowed down by now)
* How you couldn't look at your hands while typing in Mrs. Chambers' typing class (FYI: I still look at my hands!)
* Learning how to make pillows and fold a fitted bedsheet in Home Ec with Mrs. Vogel
* Wondering if Ms. Blunier ever lets down her hair?
* Reading "Canterbury Tales" in Mrs. Quinn's class and wondering why they considered banning the book: now look at what is being written, aired on tv, shown in movies...

Shawn, how DO you fold a fitted sheet? I must have been sick that day!
