hello all..it is hard to remember things that happen so long ago.. so many things have happened, so i am glad to see everyone leaving messages.. does anyone remember sliding on ice in middle school.. i fell on the ice and John Yankee put his foot right in my face and i had to get stitches for the second time... for everyone who went to Goodfield Grade School, do you all remember the first time when the ambulance got called cause i busted my head open?

Hi Randy! Glad to hear from you! Of course I didn't go to Goodfield Schools but reading this makes me want to tell you to BE CAREFUL!

I haven't looked on here in awhile and I was in my own little world. I remember walking to the Ben Franklin for lunch, the mat mates...that was the year they were going to drop the wrestling team, but they went to state so they waited a year...it has Shelley Garey, Kenda Reeser, Nicki Edwards and myself.

I remember the my junior year, I came to school blond and it took people a few to realize it was me. I remember hearing something like "Is that a new foreign exchange student?" during homeroom. I still color my hair blond to cover my grays.

I remember wasting an hour of my day, in the computer lab with Ms. Tezdall playing the diving game.

Does anyone remember Bobbie Colburn? I remember some of the fits he threw in middle and HS. I wander how he is.

I do remember the time Trisha refused to come to school b/c we were told the world was ending. I think she was gone for about a week.

I remember how awesome the Grease performance was. It seems to me it was mostly seniors in it. Robin you did a great job. It must of taken days to wash your hair out with all that hairspray.

I remember the Challenger explosion, I was sitting in Mr. Griffith's chemistry class. Wasn't he a finalist for that trip? I remember him walking out as it hit him so hard. I am thinking he made the top 5.

I also remember HANZ and FRANZ..."we are here to pump you up!!"

Didn't we have 2 prom queens our senior year? Our class always had to be different in something.

Great stories and great memories. I regret there are some of you I didn't know better. The choices we make...

I cannot believe that I haven't found this thread before - what a fantastic collection of memories!

Yes, Rick, you are right. We were "co-whiners." And, even though you may not have your trophy any longer, I have a picture of you and me WITH the infamous trophy that I'll have to dig out. Ironically, though, whiner was misspelled on the trophy. It actually said "winer" so to this day I have been telling myself that it was a runner-up award to Cathy's class drunk! (Cathy, I won't go into detail here, but I've been reminiscing about the times with me, you and Kersti ... yikes!) Coupled with the Class Whiner award, I was also the Class Flirt ... with Brad Hanner, I believe.

Of course, all of this has also prompted me to pull out old yearbooks. Tammy, I have a message from you that you wrote I think our jr. year that says "I probably will never forget that night at Cherry Tree Shopping Center." So, if you remember, you'll have to enlighten me! =)

Looking forward to catching up with everyone more and seeing you all in August!

Cherry Tree??? Mmmmm... Washington right? Wish I could remember. I'm sure it was important then, but I may have to think about that one for awhile.

I know this sounds cheesy, but I really wish I knew then what I know now. I used to spend 45 minutes every morning curling my hair before school. Talk about a waste of time! Life is too short to be standing in front of a mirror for almost an hour every day.

I hope more people post memories here. And special thanks to Cheri (Miller) Armstrong for being the brains behind this website. It seems to be a big hit!

Yes, our class had two freaking prom queens. I'm sure we're the only class/school in history to have two....

I still to this day tell that story and my own high school students make fun of me for being co-prom queen. Could they have just picked one girl? It was so awkward during the dance and pictures....

Jackie Wilder was the other co-prom queen...with Ike Wilkins as prom king.

The theme was Eternal Flame by the Bangles. It was so cold that night...had snow flurries...

Erin, your post about being stoned alone seriously made my cry I was laughing so hard! Jenny--the summer of '88 was awesome...just ask Lynn Johnson (yes, you all can be shocked!). I remember hiding 6 packs out her window! I wish I could have come out to Denny Clymer's house. Isn't he the guy who blew off his face with a firecracker? Melissa, those days with Kersti were educational---ha! She broke all the D's of the Rotary Club rules!

I remember hanging with Carrie Klaus one summer...we threw a summer party...hung out with a blonde kid and the kid who got left behind at EIU at a volleyball game--they were both class of 88....can't think of their names. We spent a lot of time on the high jump thingees...just looking at the clouds and talking.

Wow, reading all of these are such a flashback! I still think of my missing rocket from Mr. Eckert's class every time I drive by the middle school. It's there somewhere... and btw, 20 yrs. later and Cathy still blames me for her not making 8th grade cheerleading. I'm sorry, Cath! I remember during the musical Guys and Dolls when we "stripped" and my dad about had a stroke. Lunch at the Ben Franklin, going to dances (what horrible moves we had!), survival trip, crushes on guys,French class, and so much more. Moving away my junior yr. was traumatic for me...sounds like I missed a lot of fun those last two yrs!

Don't tell my boys that I had donuts and Diet Pepsi for lunch every day! Yikes! Isn't it funny what you remember! I still drink Diet Pepsi for lunch...and breakfast...and dinner!

I remember laying on the porta pits after chorale practice and just seriously thinking how great life was. I still tell people that my high school days were some of the best!

I remember Grease and how my parents freaked out when they saw what I was suppose to wear during the last scene - black leather jacket, super tight black stretch pants and black heels. I remember my Mom telling me that I couldn't wear it and me pleading with her to reconsider!

I remember in 8th grade doing a pom pom routine to Michael Jackson's "Beat It". I still remember some of the moves and when I hear that song on the XM 80s on 8 station I start in and my boys just roll in laughter!

Tammy - I also remember band competitions at ISU and it being SOOOOOO cold. I also remember band camp in August where it felt like 110 degrees on the football field. You had to be tough to be in band!!!

I remember the car accident I was in with Andrew Harrod and Kevin Meeks the end of our sophmore year and how it seemed that the whole class rallied around me. Shawn - I believe it was your brother that cut me out of the car that May afternoon.

I remember cruising up and down Main Street in Peoria on the weekends. Someone please remind me - what was the purpose of doing that?

Keep those responses coming!!!

ok, i'm addicted to these posts.

i can still do some of the Ghostbusters pom pon routine...and some of footloose. yikes. who can still sing/do the routine to the school song. I bet Kristy can! And for those bandos, do you hum your intrument's part when you hear the Star Spangled Banner? 3rd clarinet part baby! oh, and i pretend i'm playing with the xylophone whenever I hear Hey Jude and Get Back!

remember the incredibly hot drum instructor during band camp? His name was Dane? I dated him a few years later...he was such a player...such a disappointment! He was so cute though.

Robin,
I could just imagine what you had to hear from your mom because she was having trouble watching her daughter wearing those tight clothes! HA HA! Glad she allowed you because you were so talented in those musicals! She was always so great about sending birthday cards every year so let her know she's still kindly thought of!

It was my uncle Keven that got you out of the vehicle. I remember him talking about it after it happened and I remember saying a prayer for you that night! I know it's always comforting when someone you know is there after something traumatic happens. It was a long time ago but I was at BroMenn Hospital when I saw John Haerr of all places! He worked in the Radiology Dept at the time so it was nice to see a friendly face!

While we are on the topic of drinking...does anyone else remember Trent Arvin drinking a fifth and going to the hospital? I seem to recall something like that happening...I still have nightmares from Trent chasing me around the school gym in kindergarten with fingernail clippers saying he was going to cut me. LOL!!! I remember Debbie Oliver giving me a black eye in middle school during PE class. I was sooo picked on! I think I made an easy target because I was so quiet and shy...but guess what I'm not no more! HA HA!

Tammy, you asked about Bobby Colburn....does anyone else remember another boy that had a terrible temper: Jeff Wade. I remember in 2nd grade one day Jeff was really acting out so the teacher, Mrs. Humphrey, went to get the 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Hobbs. Mrs. Hobbs brought her 2 inch thick paddle with her (back in the good ole days!) and ended up breaking the paddle on Jeff's butt and he just laughed and laughed which set the teachers off even more! I wonder how HE is doing too!

I remember Tony Robbins in 7th grade being put into the wall by Mr. Eckert. Don't remember why. But that was pretty wild.

I remember having to take that darn constitution test in 8th grade with Mr. Pifer and then in HS. Was it Jared Payne that liked to tease everyone with that large fake spider.

Robin, I completely forgot about that wreck. I remember who serious it was and how bad it could have been. I rethink about it now that I know more about car extractions...my husband lectures about them.

Anyone else remember NAME THAT TUNE with Mr. Driscoll?

Theres are fun things to remember!! We need to get more people involved.

I don't remember getting the award, but I found a little trophy that said, "Class Mooch" at my parents a few years back. I remember bumming change from anyone that would give it to me at lunch time so I could eat square pizza and chicken patties...at least they said it was chicken???? I had Mrs. Vogel's home ec class right before lunch so I didn't have to beg for money everyday, just on the days we didn't cook something. My parents gave me lunch money but I saved it so I could buy cigarettes, liquor, and gas to go to Stage 2. I don't remember two prom queens...how is that possible anyway?

02/18/09 11:48 AM #59

Brad Hanner

Melissa outed me a few posts prior, so I'll cop to getting a second mini-trophy for being "Class Flirt." Am I the only one scratching their head about that one?

Jackie Wilder (Ashe)

These memories are great!!! Some of them I remember, some I had no idea occurred, and of course some I dont remember at all!!! I guess I was naive, didnt know about any of the drinking parties!! Also I didnt receive any trophy......I guess I was too busy spending all my time with Randy....I missed out on a lot.......oh well we live and learn!! Yes, Jayme you were the biggest mooch!! But who could resist you and your charming ways!! I had to laugh when you mentioned Stage 2..I was trying to remember the name just the other day. I remember going there several times with Tricia and checking out all the different people from Peoria!! and of course we danced our butts off...it was fun.
I do remember the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings in Chicago..I still love architecture today!! and of course the police escort from the hood...I was nervous!! The survival trip will be with us always....hiking with all our stuff tied to our backs like mules!! Robin eating donuts and diet pepsi everyday...that was hilarious when Kristy mentioned that..we forget the little things!! Also I know you all remember the after graduation party when we were locked in the Eureka College Pool building all night...swimming, eating, trying to stay awake!!! This website is awesome catching up on all the memories...keep it going....I am so proud of everyone, with good careers and beautiful families.

I did not do anything in high school, like smoke or drink, but i would sure think i did cause i can not remember alot about that time.. most of my time was tagging along with John Erickson.. we played alot of basketball and John was a pretty good runner..i remember one track meet, John stopped in the middle of it to tie his shoe and talk to me, then took off running again and still won...this site is fun to look at and see all the great memories..

02/18/09 05:34 PM #62

Shawn Oesch (High)

Well this just proves that Jayme needed a BIGGER award because he even used to mooch money from me! Yes, Jayme, I went there! You would come up to me in the hall flashing that sweet smile of yours and I remember giving you money at least twice before I wised up and started to "JUST SAY NO!"

Ah, Mrs. Vogel, I remember her well. I used to have her two periods in a row, Home Ec then Biology. After Home Ec I would clean up and take her list to Ben Franklin and still get an A in Biology even though I missed the class.

I miss Ben Franklin!!

Hey guys (and gals)...keep this things going! I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't hear a Footloose or Ghostbusters song and have a few Pom-Pom flashes in my head. And band, those cold competitions at ISU, and the long Morton Pumpkin Festival parade. I remember those long parades. Thank goodness I only played the flute/piccolo during marching band and pep band. And leave it to Cathy to date the cute guy from camp!

I remember a trip to Hardee's after a basketball game. I remember a certain person not in our class asking to get something out of my (dad's) car in the parking lot. The next thing I knew they were driving around the dumb parking lot in my dad's car. OK, I remember slightly freaking out about that one.

Robin I remember your car accident was days before Andrew and Kevin were supposed to graduate (in my brother's class) and they had empty chairs with balloons tied to them. And I remember the musical and thinking wow, she doesn't look like a good little Mennonite girl. Talk about good acting!

And it seems Jayme was the other half of my class mooch award. Jayme, I'm not sure how far your charm got you in life, but it definitely helped get you through high school. ;)

Shawn, I do remember that infamous moment in 2nd grade with Jeff Wade. That kind of thing would definitely fly now. And speaking of grade school, I remember Christian Kilgus having a broken arm the same time John Haerr had a broken thumb.

As for flirting, I think high school is where most of you boys perfected that. Good thing I was taking notes for later in life! :) It was a great place to work on my people skills.

Keep this going, especially as other classmates sign on for the first time. See you all in August!

Eric Hartwig

I never drank until I got to WIU (as a Junior), but you'd think I must have spent my HS years soused...'cause I can't remember half the stuff you guys come up with. ;-)

Jeff Wade...I remember him well...lived by John Haerr and we used to play together over at John's house. I couldn't have pulled his name out of a hat to save my life.

I remember (now that you mention it) John's thumb and Christain's arm...how on earth did you remember that stuff?

Gosh, I'm going to half to really think back now...maybe pull out the year books, too.

I do remember the Grease play...I wasn't in it, but I remember how good I though the rest of you were.

One of my fondest memories is going to a home football game, then going to the outdoor dance behind the school after the game.

OK, keep the memories coming...because I'm not very good at coming up with them on my own. Man, I can't wait until the reunion to see everyone again!!

02/24/09 10:34 PM #65

Eric Hartwig

Ohhh....I also remember:
---cruising Eurka, Washington, and Peoria with Shoey...

---Teresa hitting me all the time (I'm sure I deserved it, though...LOL)

---Erica mooching gum from me (in spanish class, I think), but I always made sure I had some...

---The high school carnival in the parking lot...

---going to Ben Franklin, Pizza Hut, DQ, and Hardees

---When the school put in the soda machine right outside the cafeteria...I don't think that was there our freshman year...or at least I don't remember it like that...

---I absolutely hated riding the bus...but I did learn a lot from those bus rides...hahahaha

It's funny...I can remember HS a little bit, and I remember some stuff from Grade School, but not too much from middle school. I remember building the rocket, though!!!

All good memories...

As I look through our classmate profiles, there seems to be a few missing? What happened to Chad Heffron and Becky Anderson?? Are there any others missing?? Oh and someone please tell me what happened to Ike Wilkins? I was so surprised and saddened when I read the news. Thanks guys, you all can remember more than me!!

02/25/09 02:19 PM #67

Cheri Miller (Armstrong)

Hi Jackie,

Chad and Becky were not in the Senior yearbook. They must have moved away before graduation? If that is not the case, let us know. If anyone knows where they are and if they would like to be part of the site/reunion, we can still add them as guests.

02/25/09 08:34 PM #68

Shawn Oesch (High)

Hi Jackie! Since I've kept a scrapbook and I've tried to keep track of y'all here's what I've got on Chad Heffron: Sept 14, 1989 Woodford County Journal - Chad was accepted for fall quarter 1989 at Southwest State University in Marshall, Minn. His planned major field of study was undeclared. Haven't seen anything about him since this. Haven't seen anything on Becky Anderson.
Ike passed away at his home on June 2, 2002. I've sent Cheri (Miller) Armstrong a copy of the obituary.

Holly Hohulin (Bauman)

I can't believe I didn't see these posts earlier. They are GREAT!
Yes we did go to chicago our jr. year and I do remember our police escort...it was a paddywagon, and Brad pretty much hit the nail on the head!
Jamie, you SO deserved the class mooch award!!! Ha Ha! You were so deprived, never had any lunch money! Probably was all spent at ACE on Cherry Klans...anyone remember those? Lynn, do you remember sneaking out the door during Mr. Wessels class and going to Ace for candy?! He HAD to know!
Well, my great class award was "most likely to have the most kids" Pretty sure I didn't succeed thanks to Erin! Interestingly enough the co-winner was Phillip Hodel who just happens to be my next door neighbor!HA!
I always knew we had a great class, and all of these posts and memories prove it!! Can't wait for the reunion! Keep posting!

Thanks Shawn for the update! So what else do you have in your scrapbooks? Holly, the winner for most children is the great Charles Wiegand with 7 children!! Who would have thought good old Chuck had it in him....Ha Ha!
