Gloria, I can't speak for the girls but the guys definitely don't need waterproof mascara - at least I hope they don't!!!

Does anyone ever remember school being canceled due to snow!!!! We are currently having a legitimate storm (8 inches) and school is canceled but we have been known to cancel school in ANTICIPATION of snow! If only people knew how to plow down here in Boston!

03/02/09 02:45 PM #138

Donna Ouellette (Spurgas)

Hey Susan, nope i really dont think school was ever canceled.I remember the winter of 78,we were having 50 below weather w/wind chill.I had to walk to school and all they told you to do was "dont expose any part of your skin".

03/02/09 05:09 PM #139

Claire Morin (Dyer)

Wasn't it a joke that if the Superintendent could see the school, school wouldn't be cancelled. Well Mr. Kelley lived right next to the high school so, of course, we always had school. I agree, Sue, nobody knows how to plow other than those county people. They know what to do with the snow. I hope we don't get much more. Let spring begin soon!

Have you all seen the 1st episode of the "American Loggers" show on the Discovery Channel? There are 10 episodes in all. It features a Pelletier family with 7 brothers who are originally from Daigle or Fort Kent who own a logging operation in Millinocket. What is really funny is that captioning is used for some of the loggers with a thick Valley accent, as though it is too unintelligible to understand???... Check out the show on Friday nights at 10 p.m....

Gloria Bourgoin (Santarpia)

Thank you for bringing that up Donna! The Pelletier Brothers are actually my 1st cousins (my mother's sister) & I grew up closely to all of them in Daigle. We spent many a Sundays having tractor pulls in their driveway, snowmobiling or whatever or I spending time with the 1 girl out of 9 children (she was # 7) up in her room. Only 1 of the boys didn't follow his father's footsteps & is living in Ft. Kent doing his own thing. My cousin,Jean, lives in Virginia Beach with her Navy husband & 2 kids & the furthest away from the clan. Can you imagine 8 boys??? My aunt was harried...I remember, but the logging company that my uncle started (unfortunately died of a heart attack just a few years ago at age 69) really was their whole life. My uncle was an extremely loving, sweet man. He wore a smile constantly. Imagine his legacy being carried on like this on national t.v. Love seeing my cousins on there talking just the way I remember them (we all drifted apart and my mom keeps me filled in since she is close to my aunt & some of the kids) especially on the Discovery Channel. Wow! My family will celebrate their 2nd family reunion on August 1 of this year and I'm sure most or all of the Pelletier loggers will be there as the last one in 1989. We'll have lots to talk about...how can we not?? Oh & that accent..let by gones be by gones, I can do without.:)

Which Pelletier Family are y'all talking about? Before my mom passed away, she had done a bunch of geneology - maybe they are relatives of mine? By the way, when was the last time you heard a native of the St John Valley use the word "Y'all"? Guess it had to do with too much time spent in the Navy.

Hi Mike, my uncle and aunt's name was/is Gerald and Lena Pelletier. Check it out, you never know. My uncle had a couple brothers, one named Maurice and another one that I bumped into a couple years ago during a brief visit to Ft. Kent and can't think of his name for the life of me.

I was just looking at the web cam on the www.sjv.net site and it really looks cold up there... :-( I do not miss the snow at all and thank god we never get any here in Augusta, Georgia. Both, my Mom and Dad passed away in the winter time and all I can remember is that it was bone chilling cold during their funerals. I just hope all the snow is gone by July... LOL... Hey Donna, they show the American Logger's down here too. Way to go Pelletier's... My wife being from Germany says those guys that work in the woods are really tough. I always tell her that’s why I join the Army after graduation.

Paul, this winter it was extremly light in snowfall compared to last that is, but we had a lot of bone chilling weather, as you call it. The weather men say that we could still have a great chance for a flood with all the ice that is on the lakes, rivers, etc. Let's hope we don't because I don't think anyone wants to go through another like last years.

Mr. Paradis (physics).

Yea, I saw it, Bernice, the Tim Voisine mentioned is my godchild nephew, very smart kid, makes straight A's with no effort. Although I never had Ben for a teacher, I had Nancy as a Senior Phys Ed teacher during part of the course. I think it was for Floor Hockey and Jerry Nadeau's team dubbed us Paradis Pearlies, when we called his team Nadeau's Nerds.

Peggy is celebrating her 40th reunion the same weekend we are having ours and yes....Survivor Bob will be there too! Lovely people and we were thrilled that he won!

Just a bit on info to update the American Loggers show with the Pelletier Brothers...Did you all know that Lester Dube is one of our classmates? We've seen him often in the past shows..And the two wives cooking at the camp are Lisa and Tina (Daigle) Pelletier(Kevin Daigle's sisters).Kevin is our classmate too..They are both married to two of the Pelletier Brothers. Hope your all enjoying the show as much as we are.

I love watching the show every Friday night. As I told the girls at work. . . you can take the girl out of Fort Kent but you will never take Fort Kent out of the girl!

I wondered if Lester on the show was the same as the one that graduated with us. Also, Lisa Daigle looked soooo familiar to me she hasn't changed much since High School. I had forgotten that she was Kevin's sister.

Leon Pelletier

Greetings everyone,
I just spent the last 30 minutes or so going over all these posts. What memories!!!! I remember all the teachers everyone's been talking about. Some with fond memories and some better left alone. Really looking forward to the 4th and seeing as many people as I can. As far as the Pelletier's on the Discovery channel go, I've heard about the show but have yet to watch it. In case there are any Pelletier's out there who would like to see where their ancestors lived in France, go to http://gapellet.brinkster.net/guilbio.htm

Reading these post sure makes me feel like a kid again. I don't know about the rest of you but my mind still thinks I'm 18. It's the mirror and my body that keeps telling me that I'm not.

You all know how the rumor mill spreads junk so I do not want to drop any names. But, I heard a rumor that one of our classmate passed away in the past few days. Anyone have any hard facts?

04/25/09 12:30 PM #157

Allen J. Voisine

Hello Everyone, The Pelletier's are mentioned yet another article in the Bangor Daily News, check them out at: http://www.bangordailynews.com/detail/104567.html

Allen J. Voisine

I talked with Clay and he discreetly told me who he thought it was and upon my investigation I found out that it was in fact the younger brother to whom he was thinking of. Although Raymond Levesque never graduated with us he was part of our school experience.
