Tommy I love your essay On an Eagle that looks back. I remember all of those details. Believe it or not I still have my golden bear uniform??. Thank you so much for continuing to assemble all of us.

I'm too young to remember what you big kids remember :-)

Great job on remembering the good old days and the details that you remembered.  As you brought back the details it made me remember and think how fast these years have gone by. Grateful for your writings and so glad we have this site to keep people in touch. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks Tommy for your thoughts.  I have often said that I don't know anyone else like you that can remember so many details of our school days.  I love to hear about memories from our youth.  One of my vivid memories was that the girls all had to take a year of Home Economics.  We all heard horror stories about the instructor at the high school so it was imperative that we took it in 9th grade with Carrie Sue Ray.  We had cooking, sewing, home furnishing, child care ~ or at least that is the 4 topics I remember.  In sewing we had to make a shirt waist dress and also a dress at home.  We had to wear the shirt waist dress to school which I hated!  Wore the sucker only one time and that was that!  The dress we made at home we had to wear for a fashion show (maybe for A PTA meeting).....  I did learn to sew and continued sewing through college.  Great times.

So, has anybody thought of something they could write about for our new feature "An Eagle Looks Back"?  I really can't think of anything else from school worth writing about.  Plus, I'm sure you don't want to hear about my life after high school.  I mean boot camp, etc. can get pretty boring even though I had a blast when I look back upon a lot of things.  And music wise, I'm sure you don't want to hear any of those war stories.  I can get long and boring quick.  Somebody needs to step up to the plate with something or I may just have to bore everybody with some off the wall subject that even my wife won't even listen to. (Yes, I know you shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition, although that many articles on Google think it is ok now.)

Tommy remind me again waht a preposition is??

Dang Garry, I didn't know there were that many.  But as I said, Google says it's ok these day to do that.  You know how it is, if you get away with doing something wrong for a long time, it becomes right.  Thanks.

Sorry I am a day late but Happy Mother's Day to all of the Wonderful Mothers in our Class.  I got so wrapped up with it amongst our family that I never had a chance to get on here yesterday.

I did get to see and speak to Linda Hays an Lois Gordy at brunch and could see Karen Kane from across the restaurant yesterday.

Again, Happy Mother's Day!

If you have no plans for this Sunday, our band, The Easy People is having a Gary Stewart Birthday Party/Tribute at Little Jim Bridge Fish Camp. We usually have around a thousand people there.  It's a great time for Gary's fans as we play every song we can think of that he did.  We played with him for years and years and know just about all of them.  We always have a great time when we have one of these. It has been since Memorial Day Weekend two years ago since we did this so there should be a great turn out.  We are starting at 2 p.m.  If you make it, make sure you come up and say "hey".

Richard and Rita at Little Jim say that the city has volunteered the Downtown Trolley to shuttle people up and down A1A and to the boat ramp parking across the bridge.  They aren't allowing private coolers in because they need to make enough to pay all the expenses.  But, they will have plenty of cold things to drink.

And if you have other plans, I wish you a very happy and safe Memorial Day.  What ever you do, be sure to remember all those who died for our freedom.

Classmates and Friends,

In viewing the statistics page of this website, I noticed that on June 8th that 25 people logged in to check things out. That is a very high amount as usually 8 to 10 visit per day. The statistics also show how many messages were posted between classmates.  That number was "0".  The only thing that happened was that Gary McCollum added 2 new photos.  Gary, please take more pictures and get them on here, you seem to be trending.

That photo request goes for everybody, please post your photos.  Linda and Lois, I will be mad if you post your "Cocktails while cruising the Danube photos" on Facebook and not on here.

Always Eagle Proud,

Tommy

Tommy.....please don't tell Garry that I don't know how to post a picture. I Guess I need to stay home long enough to learn how to do this! We're having a great time and enjoying life to the fullest!

Thanks for keeping me straight Garry.  I guess I should post a few.  I have a million, plus about 40 You Tube videos of our band playing all over creation for the last 45 years.  I'll make that a project for this weekend.

And thanks for posting the instructions Garry, now maybe we all will see what it looks like the cruise the Danube...

Had too much going on over the weekend Garry, I haven't forgotten.  I did look through the videos of last month's Gary Stewart Tribute but got distracted by my grandson wanting me to teach him to play a bunch of Grateful Dead songs...Maybe I'll be faster about these things when I am able to retire.

Allan Colby sent this to me in an email this morning.  It has too great a message not to share.

We all Need a Tree!

I hired a plumber to help me restore an old farmhouse, and after he had just finished a rough first day on the job, a flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric drill quit and his ancient one ton truck refused to start.

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands.

When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation.  His face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.

Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

'Oh, that's my trouble tree,' he replied.  'I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, those troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children.  So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home and ask God to take care of them. Then in the morning I pick them up again.  'Funny thing is',   he smiled, ' when I come out in the morning to pick 'em up, there aren't
nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before.'

I'll be right back Tommy,  I'm going to plant my "trouble tree".

I wish I had known of this "tree" sooner in life. It would have made many things easier to handle.

I'm sorry I've been remiss in keeping up to date on our message forum. Retirement is a busy time of life! Though I'm not trying to make excuses. Life happens!

I enjoy learning of everyone's life moments through this site and Facebook, and am so happy that most of us are in such good shape! that we can really enjoy what life has to offer.

Be well, classmates!!

I would also love to see another 'get together' of sorts in the near future, no matter where. Lunch, dinner, don't care, I would just love to see classmates again and catch up.

I mentioned this to Tommy a few weeks ago, so maybe we can get something going.

Allan

Love this....and such an important message for all of us.  Love you guys and your efforts to post on our site!  A gathering should be in our planning for the near future.

I want to thank Richard Parker for his contributions to our wonderful site!

re: Man's Day! I've been fortunate in my life to welcome children and a grandson into our lives. There is a fullfilment that nothing else can provide in our lives.

Be well, my Friend!

Yes, and same Tommy who works his butt off all day at a  job and comes home exhausted and sometimes goes straight to bed while most of his classmates who are retired slept until noon. Plus, I strive to have a LIFE!
