Glenbrooks announce new principal for GBS (From http://www.glenbrook225.org, 2/19/15)

At a special meeting on Wednesday, February 18, the Glenbrook High School District 225 Board of Education approved the hiring of Lauren Sternfield Fagel as the new principal for Glenbrook South High School, effective July 1.

Fagel has spent the past twenty years building her career in education in the north suburbs, most recently serving as the assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction, technology, and assessment at Lake Forest School Districts 67 and 115. Prior to that, Fagel served as the principal of Mundelein High School from 2008-2013. She began her teaching career at Highland Park High School where she taught history, then served as developer and coordinator of the freshman academy program, before transferring to Deerfield High School as an assistant principal.

“Ms. Fagel’s extensive background as a curriculum leader, and her lengthy tenure as an established principal, make her an outstanding addition to our Titan community,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Riggle.

Fagel earned her Bachelors’ degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Masters’ degrees from both Northwestern University and National Louis University, and is currently working on her doctorate at Johns Hopkins University.  She is a published author, established presenter, and has multiple memberships in professional organizations such as the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the Illinois Principals Association, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

“I’m a graduate of the Glenbrooks, and I’m thrilled to return to a place that has had such a positive influence on my life and my career,” said Fagel.  “It is an incredible honor to have the opportunity to serve in this remarkable school community.  I am passionate about leading schools through the exciting changes happening in education, and I look forward to making Glenbrook South my new home.”
