Chad and Jobanna,
Chad, I would love some of your squash, cornbread and pecan pie cake and Jobana, would love some fried chicken. Have not cooked fried cicken since we moved to Florida(1984). Can't even get good fried chicken here unless we stop at Cracker Barrel. Sad!!! That is why we eat our way to Mississippi when we come. Our trips are planned around which restaurants we can cover. Sad but true..Miss that great "meat and three"!!! We have lots of sunshine and pretty beaches, but no "Southern Cookin"!

Up from my once a year rainy day Sunday nap; Randy: hunker down. Now that is delta talk.

Correct MPA. Can we add it to our list???

Scooter, speaking of Toose. I moved to Madison MS and was attending a Catholic church there. i damn near fainted when i looked up and Toose was a Eucharistic minister.

Would love the pe-con pie cake recipe. Sounds so good!!!
I am not a very good dessert maker but love to eat them..
I never volunteer to "bring dessert" to anything and no one asks me to either!!! But I will certainly give it a try. I love cornbread(can make that pretty good) but I am pretty plain on that one. Like just plain ole southern cornbread with lots of butter preferably to dip in my mustard greens!!! Making myself really hungry. Lynn

Scooter,
Toose and Judy do live in Madison. He still has a jewelry store in Jackson and we see them from time to time. Fred is also in the Jackson area and rumor has it , he is keeping up with this site. Evidently, anyone can log into the message board so feel free to leave him a note. He'll eventually get it.

Randy- Ann Lee and I were talkin' about you the other day. We (along with'Glory' Katherine Cox) play bridge together a lot and we've been to Mercer/Ann's hunting lodge a couple of times. As I 'recollect', it is a weeeee bit nicer than your Catfish point 'digs' were but the SBP made up for it! Comforting to know that generations of children continue to be in your hands:)

Jobana-Where is Corlis Bacon? Remember how we all adored her?! MPA

Donnie & MP...thanks for the update on Toose. It is not surprising that he would be a Eucharist minister. I always thought his craziness was his playfulness. He had a big heart.

Jobanna...I was asking about Miss Karla Krimser. I always called her Miss Karla. I saw her many years ago when I was home visiting the folks.

George, you are welcome. I suppose every class has a soul of its own, I know ours does. Doug and Don and Scott and the others that we have listed and mentioned were, and still are, very much part of that soul. The Delta gave birth to us, the schools graduated us and we went away in various directions. But, reading all the comments on this forum and others on Facebook lead me to believe the soul is still very much in tact. I am looking forward to the "get together" in June.

Carol Mosow (Leach)

I can't believe you guys can remember all those events in high school. I just remember all the parties my brothers had when my parents were out of town alot. Do you guys remember Carl Seal? He was always trying to catch Ricky and I skipping school. I also remember Toose singing the wedding march when Ricky and Julie eloped. I can remember when Scott and Ricky came to Memphis for the Stones concert Scott burned a five dollar bill at our house and said this is what money means to me!

Hey Sally and thank you for the Miss Karla update. You are right, she was a most beautiful girl.

Are you guys talking about Pa-con? Is it Pe-con? You have to say it kinda fast...Pacon....Pecon. Some of the colored people (very similar to people of color} that lived around me said "Puck-con". Poor Paula, but she does seem happy. When I was in graduate school (Texas) some of my Northern peers would talk to me about our "Delta" dialect. They would ask. "How would you say 'porch'? Say 'store'. What about 'corn'? School? Water? It was fun. I often said that Barbara Walters would give half her fortune to talk like our southern girls. She tries hard, I think.

Chad, what a wonderful expression of compassion. I will be on my knees at 7 and hope all will join. While we are praying, let's remember all our classmates who are no longer with us and their families. We have also had several classmates who have lost family members since we all started chatting on this forum. Let's remember them also. I have always heard the devil trembles when he sees one person on their knees praying.

I also will be on my knees.... praying for Frank and his family and for all of those who are no longer with us on this earth...I believe in the power of prayer. If the devil trembles with one person on his knees praying, let us bring him to his knees with our prayers...

Chad,
Thanks for the inspirational words.

I was ever-present @ the notorious Mosow parties. Ricky & I drank all your mother's cooking sherry because the alcohol was locked up. What a NO-BUZZ experience that was! We pried our way into the liquor cabinet & got the Vodka. That's when all the commotion began. Ricky did the funniest thing; he poured the Vodka into ice trays, got out popsicle sticks & stated " We're gonna make Vodsicles." I have told that story hundreds of times through the years. Alas, Vodka doesn't FREEZE. Fantastic parties and hosts. That is the only story I can share even after 45 + years. His smile & laugh live with me till this day. Wonderful memories.......all.

Correct: James Dawson Phillips authored " Fried Chicken." I sing it to my son often. I told Jimmy to submit for an ad jingle. I think it would have made it in that genre.

Have a blessed week all.
