George

I know what you mean. I still think you could make better than 60% of those NBA corner 3's. I remember your skippy jumpshot like yesterday. Also, you all were an awesome volleyball team. Take care.

Hey; I connected w/ Robert on FB, Sez he's headed back to Dallas soon. I never would have recognized him. Still got that huge smile.

Rooster,
Just happen to have a photo of beforementioned jumper,if you can call being 6 inches off the floor a jumper! No comments please. The volleyball team won the all fraternity championship and the all school trophy as well----thanks for remembering.I think the games being at night really helped us because if you remember,we slept all day and had lots of stored up(Pent up) energy and our opponents were surely tired from going to class!!!
Mary P,
Jumper pic is recently posted with new Brownie photo.

I to have joined the pray vigil for Frank. But lets not forget Mason and our classmates who are also in need of our prayers and the Lord's confront and grace. Life at times can be a struggle so we should be litfing each other up as I know we will.

PRAYING PEOPLE,

WOW!! I am blown away with you! Who would have guessed? Certainly, not me!! From my perspective of how most of you treated those not "privileged" enough to be in your elite little clicks, it almost seems at best sanctimonious, and at worst, sacrilegious. I would love to be wrong about this, but I don't think so. I guess the class reunion will be veeerrryy interesting! See all of you there.

Brenda,
Since we had a class of over 300,certainly all of us could not know each other well. Frank is... and Scott was a friend of mine. Many on this message board knew them well. I will continue to support them as well as offer prayers privately for them. I , personally, think it is a lovely gesture for those who didn't know them well to do the same.
I am very sorry if I have ever done anything to hurt you because you are clearly deeply wounded from old experiences. I hope that you will someday be able to move on from the 'old high school days'. People here seem to have done that. We are having fun..and some of us never knew each other well. Some of us are renewing old acquaintances. It is actually wonderful to 'get to know' some of the people that we weren't close to in high school. Jump in. You might be surprised:)

Hey y'all
BTW, Joe and I had to laugh at all the grandparent names that seem to unite many of us. Who would have thought that we would become our parents?:)...except still rockin' out to the Motown!

Prayer is such a powerful force no matter its origin. especially when prayed in earnest.Like so many attributes and virtues sometimes the catharsis that comes with the act of prayer is bestowed upon the person doing the praying well as the one being prayed for.Asking for God's hand in our lives is well documented in Scripture and provides us with a direct link with our Maker.
The cornerstone of Christianity is forgiveness and the glue that holds us all toghether on this earth.By reconciliation we are given the act of renewal that the human soul needs as much as food and water.
Let us find it in our hearts to forgive one another and begin anew in the world that we all share.

Hi Brenda

Your painful memories are evident and I am sorry. If I hurt you in any way, please forgive me. You are right, of course, about clicks (groups). Every school had them and every school has them still. No excuse, not right or wrong, just true. A friend of mine died a few years ago. He had a little 5 year old grandson that he adored. When his grandson asked about his Pappaw he was told that Pappaw had died and was in heaven with Jesus. I was standing next to the door of the flower filled room where my friend lay surrounded by friends and family. When the little boy came into the room and saw his granddaddy, he stopped suddenly, grinned and asked, "Is this heaven?"

No, of course not. This ain't heaven! I hope one day we can find a place where there won't be groups, demoninations, clicks, tears, hurt, sickness and death.
Until then perhaps we can do what this group is doing now...talk with each other and pray for each other. Again, sorry if I hurt you and if I did please give me an opportunity to say that to you face to face at the reunion.

Scooter

As long as we are praying for things, might need to pray for the river not to get too high.. would hate to have to boat into the yacht club!!!!

Carol Mosow (Leach)

You are right Mary Prior it is going to be fun seeing everyone and getting to know some of our classmates who we really didn't know back then. This is going to be the best reunion!

Linda Dianne Burnett (Kistner)

Thanks Becky - I think all of us needed to lighten things up a bit. Yes, we will all "pray the river doesn't rise" - it has been a long time since I had to worry about that one.

I will admit that I have been intimidated a few times on here and actually talked with hubby on subject. The first thing he asked - didn't you have a group that you hung around with - answer yes. Did you ever invite them to join you - answer no. Then which group drew the boundries - no answer - I hate it when he is right. I am more than content with my life at this point - wonderful spouse, two beautiful daghters, great step-son and 10 fabulous grands and things that happened when I was 15 cannot be changed but can actually be learned from.

George - my daughter told Mrs. Stadelbacher (my ex-mother in law) about your insisting that you got the typing award. You gave her a good laugh at a tough time and for that I thank you.

Does anyone remember who played at our graduation dances? I was looking through a box of old school pictures and papers and found the invitations to both. Ck it out. It wasn't the Strangers.

Also George you are so right about the power of prayer. It really gets you though the times in your life that you never see a way out. I know because friends like you pray.

Linda,
Some of us want proof that George won the typing award..Think Mrs. S. will sign off on that?:)
Yes, George, there are a few doubters out there. MP

In crowd --- Out crowd ????

Isn't it funny and great how the things we wanted our universe to revolve around at 17 seem so meaningless at 57.

For me the simple things in life have become the most important: family, friends, and fellowship. I feel blessed to just be able to enjoy the sunrise each morning.

Mary,
I cannot remember who played at our graduation dance. I do remember that our band for homecoming never showed up. Help!!! anyone remember??????

Linda, yeap your hubby is right!! Guess we were all guilty of isolating ourselves from others, so i suppose we all had our own "clicks". For myself, I was so terribly shy it hurt to even talk to people. Thankfully, as my friends now can attest, I have no trouble talking!!!

Actually praying for the water not to get any higher is not really being on the lighter side at this present moment as we are being pounded by more rain this morning. My friends who were flooded out last year are so anxious this morning.

Phil, you are right, we were totally obsessed with things at 17 that have no significance to us now.... wish we could get that message across to, well I guess it would be our grands this time... my kids never listened to me... haha!!! Maybe the grands will....

Thank you all for sharing your memories on here and for sharing so many fun photos!!

Brenda, the sentiments you expressed may well have been the same as a number of people who have been involved in this site in recent times. It may well be the reason a number of them have not participated actively. I certainly can not dispute the truth of what you say when you consider the way that many of us were way back then. My persepective is this. We were all children those 40 years+ ago although we thought we were grown at the time. It is just the nature of children to be self centered, shelfish, and narrow minded. Children are not able to see the "big picture" of life. I believe the apostle Paul said it best in 1 Corinthians 13:11, "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things."

Although I have seen only a few classmates since that night 40 years ago, I can tell from their words and expressions many are now very different people. I know that I am certainly in that group and I pray for the better. I hope none of us will allow the wounds and prejudices of yesterday to alter what can now happen with these many reunions happening on sites such as this. Again the apostle Paul said it best, (Philippans 3:13) "Brethren, I do not could myself to have apprehended: but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,".

Just a few thoughts, certainly not professing special insight!

I have visited with several of you via private messages recently, because I find it hard to keep up on this message forum. I've just read the past hundred or two hundred posts, though, and just had to log on to say how amazed I am that no one in our class became an advice columnist.

Can't believe no one has said anything about Mr. Montesi, Mr. Pullen, Mr. Johnston or was it Johnson?? .... Coach Dickerson, those are a few that stick out in my mind.... Oh and Mrs. Jackson!! There was also a 7th grade math teacher that gave out gold brick candy, i can't for the life of me remember her name but what a great teacher!! Keeling? Keeler?

Mrs. Keel gave out the candy. She was at Bass.

How about Mrs. Cole and Mrs. Lockhart?
