I need the Jackson "detective" (aka Susan M) to contact Mike Quick; he has not put a profile on the website and the rumor was he was coming to the 40th reunion. Seeing as how he has attended the prior reunions, one can only assume he would be at the 40th. If anybody else wants to contact Mike, please do so.

Ok everyone - listen up! We have 110 classmates saying they are attending the reunion (which is great) but only 57 have paid; please send your money in now. Also, if your planning on booking hotel reservations, the block of rooms at Harlow's is only guaranteed up through 05/25/09 (ask for GHSSJ09 reunion).

Well my first thought for a name was THE FORTY YEAR WAR but thanks to the good will that one is noi longer appropriate. The I thought SWIMMING IN THE DARK or THE NAKED 69ers but, no one thinks any of us should skinny dip. Then after the talk of us all becoming aquainted or reaquainted with a new outlook toward each other sort of like a last chance. This could be THE FINAL FRONTIER but, way to trecky. So EIGHTEEN AGAIN came to mind but, I don't want to do it again.
That left me with but a final thouht PEYTON PLACE.

Brenda do join in I would like to get to know you as a friend.

JDW..Like the way you think!

Ibsen,
We are at the Hampton by the CC of G, I think. Isn't the other one pretty far out? Someone did tell me they have shuttle service though?? MPA

Hey y'all.. Think we are drawing a crowd:)

Mary Pryor, The photo: I remember the shirt but Renee does not remember the hair. Tried to tell her that was 20 years ago. At any rate, she saw the shirt and made me throw it out last week.

Hampton is new and next door to Club and they finally gave us a little better rate and yes, Harlow's is under the Miss River Bridge and is furnishing shuttle before and after Saturday evening event. And for the record, I would never name-names like some folks. I just know that Scooter needs to behave. Oops!

Mrs Jackson taught or "held" Algebra Class. How do I say this: The only time in my entire high school career that I got sent to the Principles Office (Mr. Young) (except for when McCarty got me in trouble for skipping and going to the Monkey Store to shoot pool)was by Mrs Jackson. apparently she thought I was "marking" her.
PI = ArraaTSqaau. She was not very happy with me and Mr. Young said it was a bad thing and we should not do things like that, so I said okay and went back to class the perfect gentleman, sort-of. Unbelievable how really stupid and arrogant some teenagers can be. Survival is a success in and of itself for some teens. If I had any sense I would have taken her flowers just for the situation she was put in just like the rest of us. Today it is a different world we live in. WOW!

Sorry Johnny Pete, I was the One To Whom it May Concern. I still have that nasty habit of being nasty. Now for more serious and manure subject matter...

Allan, I really liked your post. Mrs. Jackson wasn't the sharpest pencil in the box, but she WAS incredibly brave. Randy is right, she did call on Arnold a lot, but we all did. We gave her hell and she never once lost her cool. Of course, it was hard on us as well...somewhat of a cultural shock you might say. Any way, one of my African American patients(a Greenville transplant to Hattiesburg AND a GHS graduate) told me that she had passed away. She was a pioneer.

Johnny Pete..interesting that you said you should have taken her flowers. Were you aware that Don Dunaway did just that? He did. Brought the woman flowers. He was something.

Ken, Saw your note about Mike Quick - Just saw he and Barbara recently - if no one makes contact with them, I will be glad to try for you.

Scooter,
Mrs. Jackson was one of the first black teachers we had at GHS along with Mrs. Lockhart who tought typing. As I remeber they both were nice ladies. I do remeber going by Mrs. Jackson's class one day and she had her head on her deck and was asleep. When I peeped in the door all the class shhhhhh me so she wouldn't wake up.

On another note . . . how about Mrs. Cole. She was really special. I remeber my first speech in her class, I was scared to death. Now I talk to hunreds of people at a time. I've got to believe that Mrs. Cole is still watching over me and others also.

Patty - if you can speak to Mike, please do so.

Wayne.....and who could ever forget Mrs. Cole? Do you recall her whistling some song. She actually was pretty good. Yes, Mrs. Lockhart was a very gentle lady. I sure wish that I had paid more attention in there. It wouldn't take me so long to type something.

Hi! Nice to know so many people from the past are still around. Have been trying to catch up with all the chit chat on the forum. That takes a while.

Brenda, I remember you as one of the sweetest girls in our class. I hope I never said anything to hurt your feelings. I think a lot of us felt the click crunch. If you were friends with someone the "click" didn't like, then you were on the outs also. It was a very difficult time for all of us.

As for Yvonne Jackson, Yes she was dumb. She did get teacher of the year a couple of times I believe. I also heard that she would not order text books that didn't have a teacher's manual with the answers in it. That was within the last 15 years. Even though my memory is extremely faulty, I remember the first day in her class. Frank was sitting behind me. He leaned forward and whispered in my ear, "Kathy, you are darker than our teacher." I never did like her after that. I also remember having a 92 1/2 average in her class, and she would not exempt me.

Wish I could remember where I first heard some of the 60's songs, but I'm lucky I remember the tunes, and I have Sirius. Can't wait to see ya'll.

Johnny,
There must be something about Jim. He and I were disecting a frog in Mr. Woods' class and I'm pretty sure we were cutting up. I feel cetain it was Jim's fault; nevertheless, Mr. Woods made us stand in the hall. Would you believe it, Mr. Young came by and we were busted. As I remeber Jim out talked me and made Mr. Young think it was my fault.

Coach Arendale was the one I always tried to stay away from. After we graduated me and Marvin Lott and my Dad quail hunted some with Coach Arendale and you know he was really a nice man, I miss him. When I would see him around town he would always ask how the guys were doing.

That song of Mrs Cole was frankie and johnny were lovers
Wonderful lady she came to hear me on more than one occasion may be why I aced both her classes.

I do remember her whistling that song for us. I loved that class. However, I didn't love getting IN to it my freshman year. A rather large group of senior guys had her the period before and they would hang out in the hall outside her door and harrass the freshman girls. I remember Kent Thompson was the worst. He said some pretty nasty "JoBanana" things and I would turn purple. Just what they wanted me to do. They would hoot, holler and whoop until Mrs. Cole would shoo them away and gather us safely into her classroom.
