Kathy Carr! Funny ..I was just thinking about you. Joe and I have been pouring through photos and there was one of you, Moyse and me. Looked as if we were in the car probably having done the old Strazis to the levee run! How much gasoline did we burn back then?? Good to 'see' you.

Wayne, I have been trying to remember the other black teacher's name..YES..Mrs. Lockhart! Though I can't type worth a darn, I thought she was so sweet. My typing ineptness was certainly NOT a reflection on her.

Does anyone remember Mrs. Webb chasing people down the hall at Solomon with her yardstick?? Speak up Ken:)

Mr. Montesi was the best. What happened to him? Anyone know? MPAS

Mr. Montesi is the principal at Margaret Green Junior High School in Cleveland. I see him occasionally at educational meetings. He is still going strong.

Jobana..
So glad to hear he is well. Would you ask him to please come to the reunion? It would be great to see some old teachers..and not so great to see some, huh? Algebra II comes to my mind. Who taught us that? MP
Sally..
I do remember Francine practice teaching. The guys all loved her and the girls all wanted to be her!MP

When I hear Kent Thompson's name now, all I think about is 'buying furniture'. His TV ads are programmed into my head! He was such a bully at times back then but such a sweetie now..Funny!

Do you remember the AlgebraI teacher at Solomon, Mrs. Smith?? She had a stupid coo coo clock in her room that drove everyone crazy. We of course drove her crazy.(some people knew exactly how to push her button) She was a bit nervous from what I remember, and easily frazzled... Loved to send people to the office!! Algebra was, and still is, a foreign language to me. I don't think I took Algebra II at GHS. Remember taking Geometry, but no Algebra!
Loved Mr. Montesi. I worked in his office during my study hall. He was the best. Glad to know he is doing well. Would love to see him also..
I totally remember Mrs. Webb and her yardstick!!!

Lynn,
My "disclaimer": I must have had her for AlgebraI..hence I had to be tutored in Algebra II. At least I prefer to remember it that way. Geometry was great and the teacher was ?? He was wonderful. MPA

Mary Pryor,
I had Mrs Spraggins for Geometry at GHS. She was great!! I actually got it. I don't think it would have mattered who taught me Algebra, I did not get it!!! She is the teacher that was previously discussed on this forum. She now lives in Oxford.

I remember we called Kent Thompson "Flush" because he wore that ring on his finger with a Royal Flush on it.When you saw him at a party and he was loose and singing "Slip Away", he was best to avoid.

Lynn,
I had a man..think he was a coach..and I worked in his room during my study hall that year. I'm sure I was in love with him:)
Anyone remember his name? MP

Kent 'held court' in the hallways. He teased the French teacher unmercifully. I didn't recognize him after he lost about 100 lbs.

Did the replacement happen during her first year teaching. I am pretty sure I had her when she was a new teacher. I kind of remember the Mr. Winters thing, but doesn't seem like it happened during the year when I had her. Who knows, my brain can't remember!!!

Mary Pryor,
I do remember a coach(rather nice looking)but don't remember his name. I remember him one year being in charge of study hall. I never had him for a class. Probably the same guy. Name may come to the surface of my brain at some point!!

I had Mr. Akers for Biology. He brought his pet raccoon to class and let him crawl all over everyone. He was cute, but really strong and he would crawl on your shoulders and play with your hair. That would never happen today!!! It is funny the things I do remember.

All I remember about Mrs. Spragins is that if she had not gotten pregnant, left at semester and Mr. Winters came in as her replacement, I probably would not have passed geometry. Everyone loved Mr. Montesi. He was so nice and easy to talk to. I loved working in his office during study hall. Does anyone remember having to learn "old english" by listening to a record then having to resite it? I remember Rick McCandless would not do it and took a zero. It was embarassing and hard to recite...LOL

Does anyone remember 'NEW math at E.E. Bass? I was SO good at it that I was chosen to demonstrate it on parent/teacher night..(Not exactly as glamorous as being homecoming queen, Marilyn, but the best I could do:)
Anyway, though I was great in geometry, the rest of my math stinks. To this day I tell people it is because I had NEW math:) MPA
