I can say this, Kenny. At one time we had the toughest damn drum section in the state. We were good too. Sidney liked me but he still kicked me out of the concert because my hair was too long. To Lynn and the Shermans regarding rooms. I talked to the Hampton tonite and Rebecca Wilson's son was working. The discount rate is $119. I cancelled at Harlow's and rebooked at the Hampton. I think the rooms looked nicer, closer and only $10 more.

Randy...
New photos.. One of you , Wick, Mary Frances Signa, Betty Burke and that sweet Susie Fisher.
You and Linda Bridges on another.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm..Is the pattern here, MP has too many Randy photos or is it that Randy was always with other 'girls'?:)

MPA..not that I'm holdin' a grudge but....:)

I've got to check this out. I have no photos of me with anyone. Not even you MPA. I guess my family never had a camera and I followed suit. I'm bringing one this time. You should have kept a tighter rein on me.

OMG.( I can't believe I just did that)Someone must have stuffed the jars for me to win the King of Teens for Polio. Or maybe they were voting for my sideburns;they were dragging the ground. If I'm not mistaken I had a date with Moyse that nite and someone had to come and get us out of my Tempest to accept. Linda was already on the band stage at the armory with her crown on by the time I arrived. It was a HOT nite. I think somebody's car caught on fire that nite too.( not mine)

Peggy Lynn Gresham (Fisher)

Randy,
Those were some serious sideburns!!!

05/07/09 10:22 PM #1159

Mary Pryor Anthony (Sherman)

The sideburns were seriously hot... What else can I say?

05/07/09 10:24 PM #1160

James Randy Bentley

Just say goodnight. I turned my air down really low and I'm slipping away.

Randy, I remember that night and I think it was Victor's car...or his Dad's car, that caught fire. I think someone threw a cig out and it didn't make it all the way, or they threw one in. Vic, correct me if I am wrong, but didn't that happen? It was hot!

Mitzi and I were wondering if there were any reunion scholarships available for tuition and rooms? :)

We are booked at the Harlow. Not to be outdone by James Randy I may follow his lead and move to the Hampton. I said, might....might not. Probably won't, just depends on the scholarship situation.

Bailey Lee (Lee)

Thanks for sticking up for us, John David and Kenny. Just for the record, I know I got stiffed and eventually expelled from the Kingdom of Sidney for supporting Don Holt in his quarrel with His Majesty. That was ludicrous---a grown man feeling his ego threatened by a teenager. What he did to Don just wasn't right. So after he got the boot, my choice became crystal clear---conform or suffer the consequences. Very easy choice. I really loved band and my other friends there but not enough to betray my best friend. Not then and not now. Now Mr Bobby Patterson, the band director at EE Bass, was a true gentleman and a great teacher. What a difference.

Mary don't worry it has long since been over for me. Kenny Don and Bailey got the shaft along with a few others but no one bkames Mary at all. My dad would have came up with the money but I knew how tight things were at that time and I found one I could afford myself and he said no. Today I don't play anything who knows what is is.
Kenny you say that now. You got that tough love. Lol
Bailey wish you were coming. I will never forget eating lunch at your home. You mother told me we were having fish bladder soup and Don went along with her. I was a happy guy when she came out with our hamburgers and fries. She was so tickled by the look on mny face. I went by the store often after we graduated asking about you. Till they left.
Don and Roxanne are staying at the Hamptons. I will be also unless I find a tent for the beach.

05/07/09 11:54 PM #1164

Becky Wilson (Roe)

David, what beach??? the river will be over flood stage soon and no sandbar then... The beach on the waterfront is already gone....

The normal rate at the Holiday Inn is $104.00. It is nice and on Highway 82 across from KMart. I don't know if there is a special rate for the reunion. I asked my son, but he hadn't heard - Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, Econolodge, the old Key West and Hampton are all owned by the same family.

John David West

The rate at the Hamptons is $119.00 plus tax. They will be blocking the rooms per my informatio.
Becky no Beach! Ok well I'll stay at Kenny's then lol.

Anyone know where Ramona Rhodes is? I think she was in the class behind us, but I would love to see her. Also, can anyone get Carol and Johhny Mansour to show? She was my good friend in high school and maid of honor in my first wedding, but I have not seen her since!

Reading all of these postings makes me realize how much I missed, but I made up for it my first year of college! The only high school teacher I remember really was Ms. Kittelman, and only because Ken and I skipped her class all the time and ran off to Strazi's. It was crazy and we still made A's! I'm not sure who we paid off to keep our names away from the hall monitors, though. Ken probably handled that.

I will fly in Thursday night and will stay at my mom's home, of course. If anyone needs a place to stay, we have 2 extra bedrooms upstairs. Also, I do not want to drink and drive so if anyone goes past Crittenden Street and wants to pick me up, I would love it! Otherwise, I am going to ask my bro do it and I am sure he will grumble about that (for those of you who know Cameron). Cell is (256) 338-1280. Not even sure if we HAVE any DD's in our group! :)

For any of you that follow Eden Brent's career, last night at the Blues Music Awards in Memphis, she won Acoustic Album of the Year and Acoustic Artist of the Year. Needless to say the family is very excited.

MM...Romona Rhodes graduated with the class of 69 and I would love to see her too. What a sweetheart. In fact, Romona was one of the first girls to take a chance on me...of course, later she realized what a mistake. :)

Is there a Motel Six in Greenville? We also could get Gator Man to bring his Rock Star Bus. We could get Kenny to stay with us and tell stories of his experiences on the road. I am sure he would have to tone it down a bit.

I sure did not know anything about the Band Bashing at Bass. Sad. Sorry guys. Kenny you were talking about "if you cannot afford the instrument then you probably should not be in my band" statement. I recall sitting on the concrete steps in the gym and listening to Coach Dunaway talk with us about our Gym Fee. I think it was 35 cents or something like that. Quite a few of us had not paid the fee and Coach was sorta jacking us up about it. Then, he stopped and everything was quite for maybe 30 seconds. He said, "How many of you have a television at your house?" Everyone raised his hand...except Bill Pollard. Coach said, "Bill, you don't have to bring a gym fee." I thought that was pretty decent of him. But, he wasn't perfect either.

Scooter: Mr. Acree sent me to Coach Dunnaway's office at Solomon because my skirt was too short. Lucky for me my skirt was also too big. I untucked my sweater, pulled my skirt way down on my hips and pulled the sweater over it. By the time I reached his office I looked like a nun. He was not amused that I had wasted his time. He gave me a little lecture and I can remember thinking the whole time "Please don't call my daddy..please don't call my daddy."

Which reminds me of yet another mean thing Kent Thompson said to me. Referring to my skirts and skinny legs, "You look like two rat tails hanging out of a matchbox". Scarred for life.
Thank God for slacks!!

Jobana,
Funny how we all had our 'trials and tribulations'. Guess no one had a 'charmed life' (as my mama used to say), huh? Remember the 'stink'? I had that put on me for about a month. One of my low points! Nice to be able to renew old (and new) aquaintances as adults.
What sticks with me is all the fun I had with the Class of '69...and '68 and '67:)

Terry T.
WOW.. You keep reinventing yourself! How fun life must be! Please come to the reuinion...The Strangers HAVE to reunite..I still think y'all never really played anywhere except 'Top Ten Dance Party'. It was a ploy to lure all the girls to rehearsal, was it not??!!:)

I think we need a joint picture of the 'founding fathers' of the message board as well as a group one of the participants!
