Peggy Lynn Gresham (Fisher)

Class of 69

We are still "on our way home". Spending the night in Tallahassee tonight and will get to Tampa tomorrow. I can't even put into words what an amazing weekend this was. The committee deserves such praise. I have so much that I want to say, but will wait until I am home and my brain and body are rested. It takes a lot to get this brain working. This weekend was all that I hoped it would be and more... It was sooo great to reconnect with friends that I have not seen in many years and also to spend time with people that I did not have the good fortune to know well in high school.

George...the CD is great. Listened to it over and over in the car.. What a generous gift for all of us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You know I also love music!!!and dance!!!

For the committee, I will address my thanks to you when I get home. I want to try to express my thanks to each of you and my brain needs to be more rested!!! You guys are amazing.. Hope you will be willing to do it again in 5 years...

Miss you all!!!! Keep posting....

I know this is not reunion stuff, but now that I have reconnected with y'all I have to tell you that my precious Hamilton just stopped by. "I've got cucumbers. I need the stuff for pickles. I need red pepper flakes , fresh dill, pickling salt, mustard seeds. I have vinegar and garlic." My boys are great cooks. Hamilton is my canner. Loves to put up pickles, etc. He took all of mother's recipes when daddy died. A treasure I might add. I want to send a picture of them but they run from the camera. To many days of Christmas card pictures with frilly "girl outfits" on. Will try to sneak a pic of both of them. Life is good in the country.

Ok, My turn.......We made it home safely after going by and visiting Mary Cheatham. Band People will remember her and Bobby. We had a wonderful visit. Those of you on facebook, can check out her comments.

I cannot begin to name all those that I am thankful for, but I do want to say a special thanks to both Sherman families for your hard work, and ladies of the committee, thanks for making my wife and the other spouses feel accepted. She was very nervous about that, but enjoyed herself immensely.

It was so good to spend time with everyone, and especially the class of SJS. Joe Dantone, you sir, did a great job.....from one musician to another. I haven't heard good guitar playing like that in quite a while. Don't ever stop.

Brenda, LInda and Ken, Kenny, Randy, Mary Pryor, Buck, Davids Tucker and West, Mike, Sam, Marilyn, Chad, Susan and Jim, Iris, and Kathy Carr; it was really great to spend time talking over old times.

Finally to my friend, Doug Browning, It was great spending time with you. Let's not wait this long to get together again.

A big thank you to all of you who made this reunion what it was! I have not been to one since our 10th, and I enjoyed this one even more, I think. Of course, I love music and dancing as you can tell. It was bittersweet leaving Greenville on Sunday...so many great childhood memories there. Felt kind of like the day after Christmas! If any of you ever travel through AL (Cullman), come to my farm for a visit and I'll take you on a beautiful ride (horses) through the forest. Or you can stay at home and fish/swim! Either way, it will be fun. Enyoy the rest of the year Class of '69, and be sure to live each day as if it were your last. Tell people you love them while you can!

Good morning world; What a beautiful day it is outside today. Slept in this morning, usally up at 5:00, slept till 7:00 wow. must have been tired. Gotta get to work around the house so can't stay long. I'm enjoying the pictures everyone is posting, have downloaded each one and made copies. Susan where are your photos, need them my friend and anyone else that has some to post. Gonna make a photo album to bring to the next re-union. If any of you ladies or men want some really good recipes, I'll share them with you. Here's one I did last night from a recipe my great grand mother made. Fried Corn.

Take 6 ears of corn and remove the corn off the cob and then scrape the cops to remove the juice. Sit aside.

Take 10 slices of bacon and cut into small pieces and fry them in a skillet until golden brown. Remove bacon but leave the bacon grease in the skillet.

Put corn into skillet with the bacon grease and fry till done, taste corn to make sure its done. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Add bacon to corn along with a 1/4 cup of sugar and cook until sugar is desolved and enjoy. Umm me

Options: add hot peppers or pepper flake to taste when you add the bacon.

We love this with our grilled steaks and chops or even chickens.

Just a note to say what a great weekend Mary Pryor and I had. It was great visiting with classmates from St. Joe and Greenville High. We are very fortunate to have had 2 schools that shared so much of the high school experience together. Thanks to the committee members for making this the absolute best reunion ever.

Mike-enjoyed visiting with you in the lobby of the Hapmton. Quite impressed that you will have a 180 member band next year.

Victor-really enjoyed the golf. If you had made that hole in one it would have definitely upstaged everything else.

Dantone-what can I say, but you were incredible.

Becky-My mother really enjoyed knowing that you and I talked about the little house.

A special thanks to my lovely wife Mary Pryor for doing such a great job making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. In a class the size of GHS,300 +, everybody has their special groups, whether it is musicians, athletes, artists or cheerleaders. It is very hard and almost impossible to know everyone. MP thanks for bridging the gap. You took pictures of everyone, not just your ole band friends.

To the GHS dancing machines, Bentley, McCandless and Gator... we accept the challenge.

Hey Allan, I saw a picture on Bentley's profile. I think it was of Mary Pryor and him in December of 1969. The background at the "whatever it was " was the same as the one taken of you and me. So, we were there :))) Stay cool.

I'm such a Ludite that I am just now discovering this message forum!!!I want to thank the reunion committee for everything you did...your "labor of love" was such a blessing to the classof 69! I am just sorry that I did not have the opportunity to visit with every one of you. We have an amazing group of classmates who are making a difference in their hometowns!!! I guess that is one reason the Lord spread us out after we graduated. I wish blessings on each of you and pray that God will bring us safely back together in 2014! If you are ever in Tupelo, please give me a call...Betty

Hey Chad...that recipe on post #1969 sounds soooo good. Mitzi told me that the bacon grease and sugar might keep some of us from attending the next reunion. Health nut, she is...and it shows. That's down home cooking though. Once again, thank you for the Rooster, Rooster Main!

Allan, I have no idea what you are talking about :))) Donnie, the St Joe Boys etc. Foxholes and med school. Huh? You lost me. The picture was taken in December 1969.
