1957 and 1958
I've been lucky to have had 3 careers: secretary, lab technician (microbiology), and now work in a psychiatric hospital (since 2001). Thinking about retiring next year. I did retire in 2014.
I have my own condo (since 1988).
Some things about me: was at Woodstock 1969, owned and rode a small motorcycle (red 90 cc Bridgestone), parachute jumped 4 times, went up in neighbors' hot air baloon several times. From Cuba my family went to live in Jacksonville, FL, my father had retired from 30 years in the Navy. We hated the weather so moved to NJ, my father's home state. Lived here ever since. Thinking about moving to warm climate now.
My family lived on Paola Point in Cuba. WE LOVED CUBA: The outdoor movie sitting in lawn chairs--I remember Elvis in Jailhouse Rock. The pool. The Cuban school bus driver who got the whole bus of kids singing. Some names: Betsy Blyth (there were 7 kids in her family: Alan, Carol, Darryl were some); Dick Brown; Fredalene and Charlene, the twins; a Black girl named Cassandra; Mrs. Dick, 2nd grade teacher; Mrs. Tribble, 3rd grade teacher; Nina Shepherd, next door neighbor, a girl named Polly; two other twins, Mary and Marie, with dark hair; our family friends Art and Dottie Hilton (Diane, Marcia, and Robbie). What a great place and time to grow up with the freedom we had to be outside all the time.

Starr, I doubt if you remember me from Gitmo. I have a Christmas card with a photo of you and your parents that was sent to my parents from I guess your mother. I would love to send it to you. My email is: lonagy11@gmail.com (Lori Nagy, in Hackettstown, NJ). Please email me. Or send me your mail address by letter: 11 Pileated Woodpecker, Hackettstown, NJ 07840-2719. Hope to hear from you soon...Lori Nagy. (May 7, 2021--happy birthday yesterday by the way).
Bobby, my brother, had Shirley Ebetino for first grade in Cuba. His friend from then, Bobby Moore, was someone Bobby always wanted to reconnect with.
Also, I forgot to mention Debbie Searle, former sister-in-law of Bobby's who always remained close and thought of Bobby as a brother. And Bobby's long-time Air Force friend and best man at Bobby's wedding to Pili was Mike Casey.
Hi Barbara, I see you live in KY. My brother Jim Nagy lives in Florence, KY. Also, a nephew is in Elsmere, and a friend in Walton. This is near Cincinnati, that corner of KY (Northeast I guess). Are you near there? I myself live in northwest NJ. Lori Nagy (lonagy11@gmail.com).
Happy birthday Bobbie--hope it was a good one. Hope all is well with you, and also my former friends Charlie and Freddie, who were in my 2nd grade class in Gitmo. I found a picture of our class photo, taken outside. We all had the same teacher, Mrs. Helen Dick, and Freddie was standing next to me in the back row. My email is: lonagy11@gmail.com - I live
in New Jersey. With best wishes, Lori Nagy.
(START) Happy Birthday Bobbie. I knew your twin sisters, Charlie and Freddie, in Gitmo. One time at your house (only once that I recall) you called one of the girls "twin." I wish I could remember more details about knowing Fredalene and Charlene. They must've been in my same school class. I've been in touch with both, which thrills me beyond words. We all agree Gitmo was the BEST, great place to grow up. I have an older brother, class of '64 I think; he's 69 (4 yrs. older than I am). Also there were the Hiltons: Marcia, Diane, and Robbie. Marcia same age as my older brother, Jim Nagy. An older next door neighbor may've been your age, last name Shepherd, really pretty girl. One other older girl I knew was Polly. Do any of these names sound familiar? I guess Texas is hot now, in NJ where I live it's getting cold. Have some cake for me--I LOVE cake! Best of everything...Lori Nagy (class of '67).(END)
