Tom Wallace

Tom Wallace

As many of you know Tom died quite surprisingly on October 26, 2023.  This was a little less than 2 weeks prior to our 60 Year Reunion for which Tom was instrumental in arranging the Veterans Recognition Ceremony.  Please reference the obituary link for a very nice and informative description of Tom's life.

Three years ago Tom and Claire invited Dianne and me to Wahoo's seafood restaurant on Redington Beach where we all enjoyed Tom's favorite grouper dinner and ocean scenery.  We talked about our time at SPC in the fraternity, his love of road-tripped pledges, his Navy experience and a similar path in business. His clever name for the fence company, the general store, the post office, ice cream shop.  He had this passion for business that directly impacted the community where he lived with his lovely Claire.  He appreciated others and what each brought to the table with thoughtful ideas, compassion.  Tom carried feelings for humanity and he showed some of this in his comforting arrivals to locations when bogie classmates suffered terminal illness.  He became our class ambassador in quiet.
So when my family sat at Wahoo's last night I thought of Tom Wallace because we must remember him.  His multitude of hats to cover that round Irish/Scottish head with a constant smile like he wants to sell you something but just really wants your friendship.
Sail on my friend. We can feel your legacy.
