This news was a shock to read - Maura was so lovely and talented, and I was disappointed not to see her at the reunion.... I knew Maura from various musical involvements, and she was alwas so kind and easy to be around. I can still hear her singing "I'd like to swim in a clear blue stream where the water is icy cold - then go to town in a golden gown and have my fortune told - just once, just once, just once before I'm old........"
I loved playing piano for "The Fantasticks" with Bob Hennes and Mace Rosenstein (and Harold Flegelman on drums!) and memories of being in that show with you all is a definite high point of my high school experiences. I am very saddened to read this news - may her family be comforted by their many memories of times together.
I haven't seen Maura since high school-I had gone to college in D.C. Maura was one of my closest friends. I was also intrigued by her; Maura was smart, talented and beautiful. It is so very sad that she is no longer.
I am so saddened by this news. I first met Maura in second grade at Wayne Thomas elementary school. We reconnected after many years , then again for the tribute (twice) for Barbara Greener Patterson. A bright, talented, lovely person with strong convictions. I admired her for all of that and then some. Wishing for her eternal peace and rest. Harvey
Maura Silverman was a close friend of mine in High School. I like Bruce was in The Fantastiks where I met the beautiful talented heart of gold mega talent. She had everything going for her yet she thought of herself as an everywoman. And a wicked sense of humor. "May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest"
Beautiful, graceful, talented singer...this presence would be part of what made one look forward to rehearsals. A sad loss and definitely a key part of a warm memory for many of us.
Not much to add other than my own sense of loss and sadness. Maura was a special person to me in our last years of high school. Beyond her beauty and obvious gifts, I always felt there was something enigmatic, something mysterious at her core, a sense of longing for something she was hoping to find. I hope she found it
.
In shared sadness and love for another classmate gone too soon,
I am saddened to hear about the passing of Maura Silverman. We dated briefly in high school, and remained friends for many years after. I was in New York in the early 1980's and met her for dinner in the Village. She was making it as an artist, though details escape me. She was an angel and I am sorry we did not keep in touch.
