Katherine Wood (Unander) (1968)

Just wanted to wish my classmates of 1968 a Happy Easter and hope to see a lot of you at the reunion.  I attended our 35th with my husband, but unfortunately, I will be attending this alone since he passed away last October.  I gave my 45 record of Black and Gold to be used at the reunion.  Should be a lot of fun.  I also want to extend a belated happy birthday to Lynton Ellisor.  Hope you had a good one and hope you are coming to the reunion.  See ya'll in June.

I was in town this past week clearing out my mom’s house after her passing in January. One place I was surprised to see still open is Barbeque Inn on Crosstimbers and Yale. It is every bit as good as it ever was!! I had their fried shrimp dinner and it was fresh shrimp from the gulf and good size as well! It was great!!

Hello Classmate!  We previously discussed the different elementary schools that had  May Fetes.  I came across this favorite photo of Coady and me at our first grade May Fete at Coop Elementary, 1954.  Great memories.........

Wallace Glenn TOLMAN, Jr (1964)

I remember those a little later. I came to Coop in third grade. You were probably in my class. Do you remember Wallace Wilson and the day he and I wrestled in Woodies class?

Caren,

Not only is the picture you posted cool ~ the fact you still have a copy of it and found it to post is Awesome. I scrap booked for a while some years back and enjoyed it.....but now it seems all pictures are digital and I have on my computer or phone but not a printed out copy.....I miss getting pictures developed and going through them.

I have movies of the annual Mayfate.  So much fun to watch!!  I started Coop in 1955 but my sister & brother were before me.

Wallace:  My brother, Coady, was in Woodies class, along with Ernie Carr.  Were y'all in class together?  I believe that I had Mr. Anderson.

Patsy;  I do consider the picture a treasure.

Judy:  I actually found the picture in items from our birth mother.  I was so excited to find it.  I am in the process of printing out digital pictures and putting in albums, not really to the level of scrap booking.

Deborah:  I am so impressed that you have movies of the May Fete.  Do you remember any of the May Fete themes?  I know in 4th grade, the girls were chosen to wrap the May Pole, I wore a yellow swiss-dot dress.  I also remember one of the years, we were dutch people in black and pink and one year we were in red  polka dots with very large hats.  I do have a picture of that costume.  The costumes were very elaborate, as I remember.

Thank you to everyone for your comments......really takes me back!!

I was a mid turmer. Graduated Jan.'64.  I must have been ahead of  you two. I had r Anderson for fifth grade. He did not teach 6th while I was at Coop. Thanks for the look backs. That is why we all are on here,  think.

When I was in the sixth grade at Coop Elementary, I was in the other class from Woody’s, but his personality and charisma spread to our class as well and we adored him.  Our teacher was a young and wonderful Janice Bulguski.  Kids being kids, we all started fantasizing that Woody and Miss Bulguski should be romantically paired.  She was terrific.  I never knew if she stayed at Coop for very long after we left for Burbank Jr. High.  Did anyone else have Miss Bulguski after 1955?

Caren, Wallace & Fred Tolman are my older brothers. I was January 1967, but I’m pretty sure you were in Fred’s class. At least I know he knew you and Cody. We lived on Goodloe and I think y’all lived on the bull’s eye on Mareue (sp) (never was good at spelling) at least for a short time. We lived on Goodloe the whole time I went to school.

Hello Randy,

Yes, we lived in the circle (I love that you called it the bulls eye) on Moreau.  My dad moved that house from Aldine Westfield and we moved in around the 3rd grade and through the 6th grade.  We then moved to Irvington Manor to start Burbank Jr. High.  We always walked to school, so that was a good move on our part.

I was in Fred's class at Sam Houston and definitely remember him..  I had Ms. Hallmark for 4th grade and Mrs. Young for 5th grade.  They split me and Coady in the 6th grade.  For the first time, we were not in class together.  He was in Woody's class and I was in Mr. Anderson's class. .I don't think I have any class pictures passed 4th grade.  If Fred was in Woody's class in the 6th grade, he would have been in Coady and Ernie's class.

Do you remember that Mrs. Scarborough was the principal at Coop?   I was working at Bank of the Southwest in the loan department when Mrs. Scarborough came in (the late 60's or early 70's). I recognized her immediately and was able to briefly talk to her.  She always had an elegant demeanor.

Thanks for the Mother's Day wishes, Ruben.  I know I enjoyed my day with my son.  He surprised me by showing up for church before lunch.  Mom's love to have their grown children sitting with them in church.  We still like to show them off (LOL).    Would like to second Ruben's wish to all the '67 moms.  Our children and grandchildren are our treasure on this earth.  HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL.

Caren, I lived on Moreau Street from first grade through high school.....everybody knew what the "bullseye" was. I haven't thought about that in years. The Tolmans and Garzas were good friends with my brother Jimmie...I was the young kid that tagged along. It was a great childhood.

My Dad, Jack Hudson, was a scout leader with Mr. Woods for years.

Caren & Billy, good to chat with y’all. The big curve in the road where Moraue and Goodloe came together was the “horseshoe” and the circle at the end of Maroue was the “Bullseye”. We came to Goodloe in August of 1954 & I started 1st grade at Coop in September. Our house was the first one built on Goodloe & Mom and Dad lived there until they passed away. It was a great place to grow up. Jimmie Spice and I met in my second time around in High 4th. I failed in Mrs Earlic’s class and had to repeat half the fourth grad. She was down right mean😝! So I was set back 1/2 year. That’s why I graduated in January of 1967 instead of May ‘66. Jimmie & I became best friends for ever. We were in FFA together at Sam. I was President & he was Vice President of our class. I stoped by his place in Nacadocius not long ago and had a wonderful visit with him and his wife Debbie. Man I could go on and on but my thumb is getting 💤 so I’ll close for now. “It’s AWonderful Life.”
