I had a great time last Friday night once I finally made it there.I went around in circles for 30 minutes or so and I live about 4.5 miles from there if that far,I'm laughing at myself as I write this bc I know the area very well but things have really grown up in our area.Can't wait for the next one.

Hello everyone!

My name is José da Silva and I am a grad student at Rice University in the History department. This semester we are working in a seminar on Race and Education in the 20th century South.

I writing a project about racial segregation in the Houston area. I came across with Sam Houston High School in my research and I found your alumni forum.

I am specially interested in reading the Aegis. Would anyone possibly know where I can find it?

Hello,

I want to touch base with all of you about the tour of SAM on the 3rd of November.....Mr. Monzon the assistant principal that I have been working with emailed me to say that he had spoke with Nancy Underwood and Deanna Jenkins and they have posted an "Event" on Fascebook about the tour and they are showing over 600 people interested in going. He said there was NO way he could have that many people on the 3rd. They are having some S.A.T. testing going on and he was not thinking that many would be there. I told him I did not know either of these people and I did not know they had it on facebook. I have posted on the event and asked Deanna Jenkins who hosted the event page on facebook to cancel it. She has..I aso talked with Nancy Underwood becasue he gave me hr name and she was not the one that posted on facebook and she is trying to help let people know not to go. .I have an email into Mr. Monzon asking about the list of people I have from this web site that are interested in going....I will keep you posted.......

The school is planning a large gathering on December 15th 2-7 and he can have several there then but I am still working on us getting in on November 3rd. If you have given me your name or showed interest in going I have you on my list. I will let you know.

I am the person who put the announcements of the tour on the Sam Houston  Clasd of 1965 Facebook page  I am class rep and also run the page. I have posted your message and removed the announcement for the tour. Your original posts just said to show up and no formal list was being kept. On another note, why would an administrator schedule a tour while students are taking the SAT! My apologies if I overstepped in promoting the tour.

Good gosh, with that many people showing up, it will probably spark some protesters. I don't know what they would be protesting but from what you see on the news now days,  I'm sure they could find some reason.

Hi Judy,

I was afraid this was going to be a big group of several hundred!  I have called the school several times to schedule a tour for a smaller group but no return call. 

In case you do not have these names from the Class of 1965:  Caren Reynolds , Linda Wiggins , Pat Osina, Sharon Acree, Jody Neill, and from other years:  Linda Wristen, and Beverly Mead. 

The fact that the SAT is being given is definitely going to be an issue for the school.  Perhaps another date could be arranged?

Hello Judy, you have become very popular on this site. Sounds like there may be some problems getting everyone there who said they were interested.  I know I expressed an interest but at the time, it was my understanding that there was no magic list.   Since I am just down the toll road from SH, I was planning to show up.  Also, my wife expressed an interest in going to share part of my history (the 3rd will also be her big Medicare birthday).  Anyway, we are intersted if there is a list - but also, if there are issues or limits on how many, I understand that I am coming in late in the game.  Heck, if nothing else, I can go drive around the campus three of four times for nostalga sake. 

I have had a few people from out of town (who do not have a profile on this site) contact me and say they may be coming in for the event.  However, I have contacted some of them and told them to hold up until we hear more.
