Well - I am back to work today... no phone lines, but that isn't always such a bad thing ! I tracked down Todd Armstrong and invited him to the forum so hopefully the list keeps growing !

See you all in a few weeks !

If you have any siblings that are friends of classmates' brothers or sisters, send the link to them. I sent the link to my sister, Diane, and she then forwarded it to others to get the word out.

Hey it is a great day in Iowa today. Nice breeze, no rain, blue skies and cool temps. The river is below flood stage and the people in Waverly, Waterloo and Cedar Falls are starting to clean up the mess that has been left beind. Cedar Rapids is still in a pickle.

I may get a real meal yet this week.

Gee Rhonda you without a phone, how will you survive. :)

So does anyone care where Jerry would book the supper? Reinbeck or Janesville? it really is about the same drive time to either one. I think the one in Janesville is a little nicer place. Damn it I want a steak. A steak is low carb

Cool weather sounds good! We have been floating between 98 and 100 for the last week. I guess you get used to it but when you are out in the sun it's hot.

So where did everyone go? Did everyone float away? Not much posting going on here in the last few days. I was looking forward to coming home and reading the posts.

Things are getting back to normal in Waverly. Just lots of cleaning and hauling away debris. Spent the end of the week and the weekend running a skid loader helping people pull all the great stuff left behind from there basements and first floors of the houses.

So here is a new thread...how many spouses are coming? My hubby will come but doesn't want to be the only one off in a corner b/c we are all talking about old memories, etc! Also-where is everyone staying-got any hotel recommedations??
Oh,our area of Des Moines fared well with all the flooding-whew. I work downtown and watched the river inch up to the top of the bridges-it was crazy.

Can't really tell you about how many husbands are husbands and wives are coming. I can tell you that Jerry hasn't set anything up for Hotels. The big city only has the one and I wouldn't say you want to stay there. There is a Comfort Inn or Heartland Inn down in Waterloo on Hwy 63. It is about six miles from Hudson.

Glad to hear you made it through the flood in Des Moines.

Good Luck on the Hotels/Motels ! Everything is booked between flood, tornado victims, FEMA, Red Cross...here are a few to try between Cedar Falls & Hudson...

AmericInn - 319-277-6166 - exit off of Hwy 20 in CF
Black Hawk Hotel - Downtown Cedar Falls - 277-1161
Wingate Inn - 277-2400(right on Hudson Rd off of Hwy20)
Country Inn & Suites - Corner of Main & University-CF
268-1800

As for spouses, Chuck will go if I really want him to, but he says the same thing... boring !! I always go to his because I know just as many people as he does :) I'm thinking he may go Friday night to Hudson Days, but I'll probably go to the dinner myself.

Hello everyone! Thought I'd send a quick email, since the note/instructions say don't be bashful.

Marcia sent me a link to this website. For some reason, being in IT doesn't always mean you are technology savvy!

I think we are coming up for the reunion. My parents, Julie, Brian, all live in LaPorte City now, so luckily we won't have the daunting task of trying to find hotel accomodations.

Marie, I still work at Principal, but we didn't have to be evacuated, did you? We did get 3 inches of water in our basement (finished) in Norwalk. Called the insurance agent and he had put the flood rider on it even though I didn't request it. Contrary to popular belief, those agents aren't all bad. :)

Good job on the hotels Rhonda. I never gave the thought about them being booked because of the flood. I guess I have been to busy to watch the news. They may be cleared out by the time of our reunion. The Red Cross has moved out of Waverly and was on there way to Cedar Rapids. Maybe FEMA and them will clear out in the next couple of weeks. Chuck can come and talk to Rod and I. He met us last year when we were building the grill for the Pork Producers. But I could see where he maybe bored to. I would be and I'll talk to anyone.

Angie I will be dragging my husband with me since he has to come to Ia anyway to help with chores at my mom's house . The down side is Sat wil be our 23rd aniversery and we are spending it in Ia of all places. Only time over the summer we could find time to visit my Mom. Looking forward to a few old stories and hoping the flood aftermath is not too bad.

Glad to see everyone is posting more threads! So for our float in the parade, what theme should we go with? 80's, Hawaiian. We will be decorating the float at my parents house either Thursday or Friday morning. Also we should probably get some bulk candy to throw out to the crowds.

Jerry we need to go 80's.

Also if Waters Rd isn't open go north on 58 to Strayer then west to Platt then back south.

Alright then I'm for the 80's too! Any one else? Check out the new logo of the 1915 building. Was it built in 1915? It looked like 1815 to me :)

06/25/08 11:37 AM #84

Rhonda Quillin (Hinton)

Love the logo Jerry ! I actually have a customer who attended the school when it was just the 1915 building...he brought in a photo that has all of the students sitting in front of the school. It's kind of cool, but I'm a bit of history geek :)
Anyway, lets go 80's style Hawaiin ... sounds fun. I haven't had time to check on the tree thing...crazy busy at work, floods, wedding planning, blah,blah,blah... if someone else has time that would be great.
We got 5 feet of water in my office, downtown Waterloo...I don't think we will ever get rid of the smell ! We lost about 40% of our crops and a roadway on our place, but other than that, not too bad... we have our health and the sun still rises and sets each day.

I love the logo also. My mother went to school in that building when that was the only building. I think I have more picture of the building form her time if anyone wants to see them. I can try to find them. Rhonda I can give you a run for your money on loving local history. Hudson history is easy for me since one of my grandfathers was a founding fathers.

Rhonda I don't think the smell of flood water will ever leave my nose. Hog manure smells a lot better. I have a pile of clothing outside airing out. I can't wash it yet because the washer and dryer were under water along with the laundrymate in town.

Regarding pictures, anyone have any ones not posted bring them to the party to share!

Ok since most of you like the 80's theme, lets try and find memorabillia from the 80's. I'm thinking of going to Goodwill and finding old albums and decorating the float with!
Class of 83 Rocks!

Jerry - How about Class of 83, Rock and Roll all night and party ever day.

Ok so maybe we don't party everyday any more, but we did 25 years ago. I'll look around Waverly here on my days off and see what I can find for album covers.
