Happy New Year to everyone!

Happy New Year, everyone! Jerry, I'd rather see the Avalanche win the Stanley cup. (Dream big!) My son plays hockey, so I've become a fan through him.
Did anyone make any resolutions? I decided not to call them resolutions this year - because I don't keep those. I just set some personal goals: 1. Work out daily, 2. drink water instead of diet pop 3. spend more time reading the Bible, 4. make a bucket list and start in on it!
I received a Christmas card from Lori Lindeman's mother. She wanted me to share with everyone that she'd like to keep up with the "goings on" of our class. I'm sure this was a difficut Christmas for her.
Blessings to all in 2009, and hopefully we won't all lose so much of our investments!
Lynette

Hey, Glade - I still listen to the radio to see if school is cancelled. (some of us teachers get excited about those things, too!) I remember skating up at the Hudson park when they used to flood the basketball court. Now the thought of putting on skates is frightening. It seems like a much greater distance to fall now!

Glade and myself and the Poppe brothers were in the Hudson herald skating at the park during a heavy snow back in the day. Good times and memories.
Go Kings Lynette!

Jerry I forgot all about that we had our picture in the paper. I do remember that we had the run of the ice for a while there and people were nervous to come on the ice when we were playing. My Black Hawks got beat today outside. I'm not happy about that.

I love reading the paper and looking at the pictures and the captions. It's my favorite way to get the news. You can "turn it off" or quit reading an article if you want and go on to the next one as you please. Anyway, NEW YEARS BLESSINGS for Everyone! Hey, one thing I want to do that I did not get done is to order a Christmas ornament for Lori's mom. A friend that lost her 51-year old stepdaughter (who was also friends with us) told me about this ornament that I ordered for our friend, Greg. He lost his wife a couple of years ago. Anyway...on the front of the pewter ornament, it says, "MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM HEAVEN" and something along the lines of "I'm spending my Christmas with Jesus this year". And then on the back of the ornament, name of the deceased is engraved and the dates (years) of their life, and for example, 1964-2006. Greg said it was the best gift he got this year.

Happy New Year Everyone ! I spent yesterday watching football - Go Hawkeyes! I agree with Lynette - I'm setting goals and not resolutions...eat healthier(hopefully the weight loss will come!) and get my house organized - we had a busy year with the wedding and I feel like everything is disorganized-yuck! Also, finish up some quilting projects, scrapbooks and just have fun!
Hope everyone has a great 2009 !

That was a pretty cool game outside. I just wish they could have won. I bet it was cold as heck out there.

Happy New Year Everybody!
The blizzard warning turned out to be hype here in Iowa City. Hopefully outside of town and north of here it's not too drifty.
Too cold for cross-country skiing, but plenty of internet site updating to do. Oh yeah, and taxes woohoo.

Think spring!

We have the Santa Ana winds that are kicking up again making very warm and dry. It might be in the mid 80's today. Sorry Glade! Hey Dana two of my sisters live in Iowa City, I hope it warms up for you.

I bet your sorry Jerry for 80 degree temps. Hey they say we might make it to the 20's by next week. That is above zero not below like tonight and the rest of the week.

Iowa is the best place to live right now. Sub zero temps and snow every other day.

This is a horrible display of photos, but if you watch the 2nd one from the top long enough, there is a picture of our float:

I concur Rhonda, we had a ton of rain here already and I'm sick of it. I hope it doesn't come your way in a diffrent form like SNOW!!!!

Hi there everyone. Jerry Rod and I were in Louisville when you called. That is all the farther south we got, but at least it was warmer than in Iowa. We went down for the farm show and tractor pulls. We even had a guy there from California pulling.

I'm with you Rhonda I'm ready for spring. It has been a long winter for all of us in Iowa. Well I need to get to bed. Talk to you all later.

Boy, you guys sound like a bunch of old farts wanting spring already. :) Send the snow my way. We don't get nearly enough snow out here in Indiana. Matter of fact I sold the snowmobiles this year cause I haven't been able to ride for the last 3 years. I kinda forgot to check this web site frequently. Thanks to Kelly for adding me as a friend on facebook and jogging my memory. I can't get much computer time at home with a teenage daughter. I even broke down and got her a cell phone. How can one person send 3500 text messages in a month? And over 1000 of them were to me! (not that I'm complaining, at least she does talk to me) My thumbs are too big for those itty bitty buttons but I'm getting better.

Jim you can have all the snow you want. I'm sick of winter. So what part of Indiana are you living? Rod and I were just through there on our way to Louisville. And yes I think I'm getting older. Winter used to be fun, not no more. I like snow for Christmas after that it can all melt.

02/25/09 07:41 AM #189

Hey Glade, I live in Wabash, Indiana, the north central east part of the state. I am about 50 miles west of Ft Wayne on highway 24 and about 60 miles north of Indianapolis. We usually don't have hard or cold winters here. This year has been an exception. Because of Al Gore's global warming, we set a couple of low temperature records. I know Iowa set a couple new ones also.

02/25/09 12:00 PM #190

Jerry Randall

Hey Jim
You forgot to mention that Al Gore also invented the internet!

02/25/09 10:08 PM #191

Jim Tack

Hey Jerry,
You're right, I had forgotten that without Al Gore's internet invention, we wouldn't be able to do any of this communicating or sharing of information. He should win a prize for all he's done for us. :)

02/26/09 02:10 AM #192

Glade Mogle

Jim we went a little to the south of you then.

All I will say about Al Gore is he is a flipping IDIOT. Record cold record snows and we have global warming?
