I hope you bring that helmet Saturday Night Mike, I want to hold one for memory's sake - we can put it on display for a bit.  My letter jacket mildewed and rotted away while in the garage in Florida back in the 80's. It was a sad day when my wife made me put it in the garbage, but it was a "goner".  No other football souveniers for me.

JD you betcha as Sarah Palin would say. I am planning to bring it and one more 1974 football souvenir that we haven't mentioned yet. I think you guys will like it.

Rick, I'd like to see that letter jacket too if it will hold together.

Great Scott! I think we are all in danger of turning into "Al Bundy" - reliving our glory days?

Yep, the stories will grow by the hour- Shrout's FGs will immediately have 15 yards added, Zitsch's 25 yard runs will turn into 50 yard, 8 broken tackle runs, and J.D.'s sacks will go from a 5 yard loss to a 25 yard takedown behind the line of a QB that was the early '70s version of Johnny Manziel.

No, John.  I am forever credited for our loss to Banks in our senior yearbook.  "The Tigers got an early break by blocking the Jet's punt, but a field goal attempt was no good.  Grissom fought hard all the way, but it wasn't enough as Banks collected its second straight State Championship."  So I guess if I had made that field goal we would have won instead of losing 21-0...

Rick, I don't know who has been making comments like that, but there is not a bit of truth to it, you know that- If it wasn't for your kicking, we'd have never even been in a position to play for the State Championship in the first place- And, I bet the rest of the guys would agree w/ me in saying that had you made that FG, the final would have probably been 21-3..... they were simply that good, and anyone who says otherwise either didn't play in the game, or wasn't even there in the first place- You were always the one we needed for a clutch kick.

And what I said was referring to how, after 40 years, our stories might be embellished just a bit for added drama- Like J.D. said, the tales ought to be flowing next weekend.

Talking about people who look great.

Here's a you-tube video of Emily Graffeo (Earle) in action one year prior to her retirement from Chrysler Corp.

(Apologies in advance Emily, my Dad (former VP of Chrysler's Electronic Division) sent it, he was always a fan of your skills - said you were one his better engineers)

I didn't realize I had this picture of the Naval Academy guys and I don't know if VV, Tommy or James has seen this picture yet but I was wondering where it was taken. It was taken by me I believe the summer of 1974. Do any of you guys remember?

Wow!  This picture is from the "Way-Back" machine!  I think it was at my folks' house.  They had a party for all of us - 318 Curtis Drive.

For those that were friends with Dean Martin, he lives with his parents at the same house from high school on Esslinger Court.  He probably will not attend or answer phone calls, but you can say high to his parents, Dean and Buddie, at 256-337-0079.  Rhett Hagler and I stopped by today to say Hi and talked with his parents and older sister Jan.

Carole Mahone (Bishop)

Hi,

I have a special request. Can anyone bring their 1973 annual to either the Friday night or Saturday night events? Unfortnately, I had to leave Grissom at the end of my junior year, so most of my memories of Grissom are from 1973 or earlier.  My annual has been separated from me due to moves, divorces, moves, marriages and then more moves. This might help revive some old, destorted brain cells and I might even remember a few of you.

Please forgive me if you introduce yourself and I have this very dumb, non-responsive look. The only time I have been back to Huntsville since June of 1973  is for one business trip and my father's funeral.  So, I have forgotten so much more than I remember.

I look forward to a wonderful weekend. I want to thank all of those responsible for putting this together. I know it has been a long, thankless task to herd up all of us "tigers". The website has been excellent. I have loved reading the profiles and all of the posts. I even received some very surprising e-mails.

See y'all this weekend,

Carole "Sunny" Mahone Bishop

It's 00:30AM in Tampa.

I'm still packing. Getting up in 3 hours to head for the airport....

The bags around my eyes tonight at the Cocktail will make me very attractive ... not.

Carole:  As I've not moved away from Huntsvegas, I still have my annuals and will bring all four.  Look for me, I'll be the guy of mediu height, with salt and pepper hair and beard, wire rim glasses and am not quite as svelt as I was 40 years ago.  Oh, right, that will be quite a few of us! Duh.
