Willard Dudley(1971 ) (1971)

IT'S THE DAY AFTER, THE SMOKE HAS'NT CLEARED. MY BODY IS TIRED AND MY MIND IS STILL SPINNING FROM ALL OF THE JOY AND EXCITEMENT OF THE WEEKEND. IF I HAD TO PICK A HIGH POINT I COULD'NT JUST PICK ONE. SEEING SO MANY PEOPLE AT THE MEET AND GREET ON FRIDAY FOR THE FIRST TIME, US GETTING SO MUCH ATTENTION AT THE FOOTBALL GAME WITH OUR CHEERS, WATCHING SO MANY PEOPLE BOWL OR JUST BE AT THE BOWLING ALLEY. MAYBE THE HIGH POINT WAS SEEING SO MANY FAMILY AND FRIENDS IN THE PARK JUST HAVING A GREAT TIME OR THE NIGHT SOCIAL THAT SEEMED AS IF WE JUST COULD'NT GET ENOUGH OF EACH OTHER. AND THE FINAL MEETING, CHURCH WAS GREAT AND FULL. KENNETH CHEEKS FROM THE CLASS OF 71 JOINED THE CHURCH. WE ENDED WHERE WE STARTED, WITH GOD IN OUR PLANS.

YOU WILL HEAR FROM BARBARA AND SYLVIA PERSONALLY, IN THEIR OWN WORDS. BUT I MUST THANK A COUPLE OF PEOPLE THAT I CAN NOT THANK ENOUGH FOR THEIR TIME AND CONTRIBUTIONS. MS GAYLE AT THE CENTER FOR HER UNYIELDING SUPPORT, CONTRIBUTIONS AND PARTNERING WITH US SO WE DID'NT HAVE TO PAY FOR RENTING THE CENTER ($300). TONJA UPCHURCH FOR COMING FROM MIAMA TO MAKE THE SALADS AND BEANS TO HELP HER UNCLE.SHE WAS A LITTLE MAD AT ME FOR FORGETTING TO PUT THE PURPLE AND WHITE TABLE CLOTHES SHE BROUGHT ON THE PIC NIC TABLES. DAVID THOMAS FOR PROVIDING A PLACE FOR US TO PREPARE FOOD AND GETTING UP EARLY TO COOK MOST OF THE DAY IN ADDITION TO OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS. CYNTHIA TURNER FOR HELPING US GET THE BOUNCE HOUSE THAT THE KIDS LOVED AND PROVIDING SNOW CONES AND KEEPING THINGS TOGETHER IN THE FOOD LINE WITH TWILA AND LISA WORKING HARD. THANKS TO ELDER ROBERT GOLDEN FOR CLEANING AND COOKING AND CUTTING AND ON, AND ON. AS FOR BISHOP GOLDEN, I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH. HE CAME TO ME IN THE BEGINNING AND ASKED, WHAT DO YOU NEED? HE PROVIDED MY NEEDS ABOVE AND BEYOND ANYTHING I COULD HAVE DREAMED OF OR ASKED FOR, MUCH TO MUCH TO EVEN GIVE YOU THE LIST. EDITH MENTIONED A PACKET TO GETTING DONE WHAT WE ACCOMPLISHED. YOU CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT HAVING THE INDIVIDUALS THAT WE HAD ON OUR TEAM. IF YOU SEE ANY OF THEM PLEASE THANK THEM. IN CLOSING, AS FOR ME, I WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR PARTICIPATING AND MAKING THIS HAPPEN.IT'S THE PEOPLE THAT MAKE IT FUN. I HAVE NOT TALKED TO SYLVIA AND BARBARA ABOUT THIS YET, BUT LETS DO IT AGAIN IN TWO YEARS.........

in harmony with all of the fine reflections on such an awesome event,we can all say WE MADE IT HAPPEN.I can honestly say it was well choreographed and orchestrated.

willard, barbara and sylvia (the dream team) you all have another calling, that of being event coordinators, you all no doubt are capable ,creative developers .the rest of the dream team includes each and every one of the beautiful and handsome members the newly-formed "BEACHES BLACK STUDENT UNION." WE ALSO LOVED SEEING OUR HONORARY MEMBERS-TEACHERS,CHILDREN,SPOUSES,FRIENDS AND LOVE ONES.

LET US KEEP THE LINES OF COMMUNICATIONS OPEN.MY NEW FOUND FRIENDS IN THE ATLANTA AREA AND I DISCUSSED GETTING TOGETHER SOON FOR A GIRLS NIGHT OUT.

I AM WILLING TO CONTRIBUTE TO KEEP THE SITE ACTIVE.

I WOULD LOVE TO DO IT AGAIN IN TWO YEARS.I AM ALSO SENDING MY CONTRIBUTION TO THE MARTIN CENTER TO KEEP IT GOING AND FOR GIVING US SUCH A WARM RECEPTION.

Well, I finally made it back home with family. Thank God, and hope that others that travel the highways and byways got to their destination safely.

Big up's the our steering committee, you guys did a wonderful job. "THIS AFFAIR WAS PRICELESS"

Willard, I must say you and Jimmy Davis are the only two brothers in my life to have pronoun my first name correctly, and I do appreciate.

What I notice the most is that there was so much joy and happiness on the faces of each of you, that I will treasure forever.

To Florence: I didn't want it to end either, until the next go round let's continue to keep God first in our lives and the communication lines open.

Peace,

Rex

Thanks for being concerned for your 3rd and 5th grade classes.

I'm so sorry I missed it but a very close friend of mine, actually my prayer partner sister, loss her mother and I flew to VA to sing and support her. I was with her when her mother pass away and I'm thankful that I could support because I've been there and knew the pain she was going through. If you have pictures please share. I really was so disapointed that I was not there, but I couldn't be in 2 places at one time. Hopefully there will be something else soon, I will definitely make it. Keep this forum going and lets stay in touch with one another. I am coming to JAX for another occasion this coming weekend.

First, let me thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers for me and my family. Although I was not with you, I am still excited about the events and delighted that the Reunion was a grand success and that so many of my friends were reunited after such a long time and were able to enjoy such a fantastic weekend. I am proud of the commitment of all of you and the exceptional organizational skills of Willard, Sylvia, Barbara and other committee members and the support staff.

Though the day so bright begun, clouds now hide tomorrow's sun; and so it is for me to hear about the passing of Joseph Pierce. I reconnected with him about 2 1/2 months ago when he signed onto this site. He was one of my best friends(our mothers were best friends years ago) that I had not spoken to in 39 years. We talked, exchanged telephone numbers and he told me about his military service, pastoring and his career in the ministry. He was so excited about it all and of his Christian work. He also mentioned the health experience that he had recently encountered. He told me about having a minor heart attack 3 weeks earlier in the doctor's office and a week later having heart surgery. In the conversation, he also mentioned that he was doing too much but was glad to get back into his routine and he felt better. He was so committed to the Lord's work. He could not come to the reunion because it was at the same time as a church convention. I am still in a state of shock but I am praying for the Pierce family and know that there is certainly a special place for Joseph in Heaven.

ENOUGH CAN NOT BE SAID ABOUT THE HOSPITALITY AND COURTESY OF THE RHODA MARTIN HERITAGE CULTURAL CENTER IN LAYING OUT THE RED CARPET FOR US. STARTING WITH THE DISPLAY OF ART MONTHS AGO. THE MEET AND GREET ON FRIDAY WAS AWESOME. I WAS UNABLE TO ATTEND THE TOUR AND BRUNCH ON SATURDAY, BUT EVERYTHING I AM HEARING IS THAT IT WAS GREAT BEING BACK IN SCHOOL. FROM EVERYONE ASSOCIATED WITH THE REUNION, BIG THANKS TO ATTORNEY WALTER,MRS LILLIAN THOMAS-SULLIVAN, AGAIN, BISHOP GOLDEN AND EVERYONE AT THE CENTER.

I APOLOGIZE TO ATTORNEY BELL FOR MISSING A NOTE THAT I MADE TO MYSELF FOR HIM TO SPEAK AT THE SOCIAL. I COMMEND GIRTHA MORGAN-McMULLEN FOR BEING THE FIRST TO PLEDGE TO "FINANCIALLY" CONTRIBUTE TO THE CENTER TO ASSURE ITS CONTINUED EXISTANCE AND SUCCESS, WHICH IS SOMETHING WE ALL SHOULD DO. NO CONTRIBUTION OF TIME OR MONEY IS TOO SMALL. AGAIN, TO EVERYONE AT THE CENTER, THANKS !!!

MY HEART IS HEAVY WITH THE LOSS OF OUR FRIEND AND CLASSMATE, JOSEPH PIERCE. I BEGAN COMMUNICATING WITH HIM LAST MONTH THROUGH THE SITE AFTER NOT HEARING FROM HIM IN THREE DECADES. HE CALLED ME OLD MAN AND I REMINDED HIM HOW FUNNY HE LOOKED ON STAGE WITH A MIKE IN HIS HAND LOOKING OVER HIS GLASSES. MR HOLLOWAY OUR MANAGER, FREDDIE, EARNEST, DONNIE, ROBERT, RONNIE, WE HAD FUN IN THE BAND. HE AND I VOWED TO KEEP IN TOUCH. WE HOPED TO CATCH UP ON THINGS. HE WAS SO PROUD OF HIS MINISTRY AND HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS. MY PRAYERS TO HIS FAMILY. I'M AT A LOSS FOR WORDS....

Donald (Donnie ) Waters (1970) (1970)

Shocking can not express the feelings I am now experiencing over the death of Joseph. I found him on Facebook and told him about the reunion. I really feel the lost because he told me he would not be able to attend, so my intentions were to get with him afterward. The promises of tomorrow are to far away, do what you can today for there is no certainty of a tomorrow. I am really at a lost over his death.

I know that God has a pulpit for him because his heart was always to help others. He expressed his love for God's word and how he was in school to further that love. I will continue to live with his memories. If anyone has any other information please contact me.

Oh my God of peace, grace and mercy I surrender all. Help his family to remember that you're always there.

Man oh Man, what can I say that has not already been said expect THANK GOD FOR HIS PEOPLE. There is no doubt that the annointing of the Holy Spirit was at work. Those people Silva, Barbara, Willard and the crew had to be lead by the only one that could make this possible. The PERFECT REUNION. Some would probably say come on now don't go there, it was not perfect, but I beg the difference. I can't ever remember any event that I have ever attended that went as well. Good food, good music, great location and lots of smiles coming from everywhere. I have never seen so many happy people in one place. This old man, I mean YOUNG man had the time of my life. My wife had to take pictures for me because I tried to talk to everyone I could and share some of there joy. If God would take me tomorrow I could only say thanks for the reunion. This reunion gave me a new meaning of life tomorrow. I will start exercising, eating better, and PRAYING MORE, because I want to be here for the next reunion. I will probably win the prize for one of the oldest members of REUNOION 2!

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO ATTENDED, YOU GAVE ME A GIFT THAT I WILL NEVER EVER FORGET!

OK lets get the committee together and start working on Reunion 2.
Also lets get the money together to keep the site up.

WE HAVE SAID SO MANY NICE THING ABOUT THE REUNION,FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END, NOT ONCE MENTIONING THAT ONE OF OUR OWN GAVE HIS LIFE TO CHRIST AT THE SERVICE SUNDAY MORNING. WHEN I SAW KENNETH CHEEKS ON SATURDAY HE TOLD ME HE NEEDED A HUG FROM ME AND I GAVE HIM ONE. HE LOOK LIKE HIS OLD SELF AGAIN!THAT'S WHY I BELIEVE WHEN GOD TRULY DELIVER US WE HAVE A CERTAIN GLOW ABOUT US THAT SHINE LIKE A BRIGHT LIGHT.I COULDN'T HELP BUT TO SHED TEARS WHEN I SAW HIM WALK DOWN THAT AISLE.I HAD BEEN SEEING HIM GOING TO CHURCH SOMETIMES ON SUNDAY MORNINGS.AND THE BEST PART OF IT ALL HE HAD NO SHAME TO DO SO.
