Barbara Campbell (Williams) (1973)

I HAVE HAD TIME TO SETTLE MY MIND A LITTLE, HOWEVER ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT GOD IS GOOD. WHEN I TOOK THIS PROJECT TO HIM(GOD) HE SAID PERPARE FOR TWO HUNDRED. THERE WERE TIMES THAT IT SEEM LIKE THAT WAS TO FAR A NUMBER TO THINK OF REACHING. OH BUT GOD! HE SHOWED UP AND SHOWED OUT WE HAVE NOT TOTALLY COUNTED UP BUT I THINK THE NUMBERS WILL BE OVER TWO HUNDRED. THANKS TO ALL THAT MADE THIS EVENT HAPPEN. .........THE JOY WAS SHORT LIVED WHEN I HEARD OF THE PASSING OF JOSEPH PIERCE. I THANK GOD FOR THE SITE, I HAD A CHANCE TO COMMUNICATE WITH HIM LAST MONTH, AFTER SO MANY YEARS. TO HIS FAMILY MY HEART AND PRAYERS GOES OUT TO YOU.

Girtha (Gigi ) Morgan (1975) (McMullen) (1975)

in harmony with everyone the flow of the reunion was awesome. we have all been to reunions where 90% of the events u just sit around and do nothing. this was an interactive reunion ..although some of you were my seniors no one was non-mobile.everyone was up and socializing with friends and love ones they had not seen in years .EVERYBODY LOOKED GOOD ,FULL AND HAPPY TO MIX AND MINGLE.I HATE TO BREAK THE NEWS BUT THE ORIGINAL STEERING COMMITTEE CANNOT BE DUPLICATED.I NOMINATE THE 'DREAM TEAM' TO CONTINUE THEIR EFFORTS AND YOU KNOW WE ALL GOT YOUR BACKS.NOTHING IS PERFECT BUT IF SOMETHING WENT WRONG I DIDNOT SEE IT AND I KNOW FROM TALKING WITH EVERYONE THEY DID NOT EITHER .AFTER THE MEET AND GREET AND THE NUMBERS I SAW THERE I SAID THESE THREE NEED TO BE HONORED.LET'S GET THE NEXT PARTY STARTED.I KNOW SLYVIA,MY NEW PHONE PAL BARBARA AND MY MAIN MAN WILLARD HAVE MORE TRICKS UP THEIR SLEEVES THAN WE COULD EVER IMAGINE.I KNOW THEY WILL TAKE US THERE.

Once again I’m late coming into the conversation. I’ve been up on the mountain top ever since the Reunion. I echo all of your sentiments, everything was spectacular. Many thanks to Willard, Barbara, Sylvia, and all of you who helped bring this to fruition. You all did an extraordinary job. You were all Joy Makers.

This Reunion was truly an anointed, Divine appointment, it was not an accident or a coincident Someone said it was perfect, someone else said nothing’s perfect, it wasn’t perfect but they didn’t notice. I say it was a Perfect Plan and I believe that is the unexplainable. We all experienced the Presence of Joy, it was overflowing and just kept coming. Each event brought more joy, someone else you hadn’t seen, more smiles, more laughter, more memories of happy days. It was apparent that we all enjoyed being there with each other and I have never seen so many people so happy without any altercations. Even at funerals, weddings and family reunions, sometimes there are altercations. I was especially happy that my daughters were there with me to witness this and to meet many of you; they loved it too.

The Sunday service was hmmm hmmm good, good to the last drop!!! Perfect songs! It was heart warming seeing Kenny Cheeks give his heart to the Lord. Now you all know there was ‘Joy in Heaven over one soul’. Being at Friendship with so many of you, brought back many wonderful memories for me. Seeing Mrs. Iodine Waters (Donnie’s Mom), Mrs. Dove (Jimmy’s Mom) and Mrs. Ella Mae Dillard brought back such awesome memories. These ladies were pillars and towers of strength for me…strong, faithful, God-fearing women that I have always admired and looked up too. I was so happy and grateful I had this brief moment in time to thank them for being there.

Willard as I listened to your praises and exaltations of the Father, I thought…”maybe he missed his calling”. Watch out, or I’ll start calling you the Preacher Man.

Willard Dudley(1971 ) (1971)

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the Holloway family. I vividly remember getting irritated by Mr. Holloway, as our band manager, being on stage. We had to constantly remind him that he and his tamborine were not in the band. What I never got a chance to tell him was how much I appreciated him working with our band as manager, and how much I admired his swagger and confidence. He was a sport and always dressed the part. I regret that I did not keep in touch through the years. Never-the-less, he will be missed abundantly and thought of fondly.

Donald (Donnie ) Waters (1970) (1970)

My prayers go out to the Holloway family. Mr. Holloway as a band manager was great. Always talked the talk, and walked the walk. Cool, confident and crazy, always kept the fun of life in most everything. He will be missed.

I couple of people have brought to my attention that i seemed troubled, unattentative or somewhat distant during the reunion. Someone even said that i was walking around like an old man (i am). I apologize for all of that. Trying to participate in all of the events in addition to seeing that they went smoothly took its toll on me. For me it was a week of running non-stop. I did'nt eat at the pic nic or the night social. I felt like a standing zombie. I also did'nt get a chance to talk to or spend time with any of the people that i wanted to. It was only with the help of God and feeding off of the energy of all of you that i was able to make it through. We all feel like regardless of what we went through, it was worth every minute to see the joy and smiles on so many faces. Would i do it again? absolutely !!!

Girtha (Gigi ) Morgan (1975) (McMullen) (1975)

WILLARD i am glad you are mentally ready to do it again.i thought you were quite attentive.dont worry the next time i will personally see that you get your proper nutrition.as you know i am a natural caregiver.you know i didnot eat at the picnic either i made several plates but they were for the seniors in attendance.at the social i was still buzzing around and met barbara at the buffet. we were only able to eat a portion of the fantastic pasta salad.i can tell you if you didnot eat at either event it is because you did not want to or were busy taking care of business.the number in attendance was greater than anticipated, but there was more than enough food for all that attended.another site ovation for the steering committee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Classmates,
I know it's taken me some time to get back on the site but believe it or not I have been at a lost for words. In fact, I get really emotional everytime I think about the reunion. You know God is Good and through him anything is possible! It was so good to see friends, classmates and family and to be home for a happy occasion. Yes, I would do it all again just to see the joy and happiness on everyone faces. Thanks Bishop Golden to you and your congregation for helping up make the Pic Nic in the Park a family affair. So, good to see the Senior Citizen come out and enjoy themselves.

I understand how Florence felt, on Sunday, I just really did not want to say goodbye, I just didn't want it to end. Of course we will do this again but I don't feel we will ever capture the magic of the first reunion. I thank God for allowing me to be able to be a part of such a joyous occasions. My wish to you my dear classmates is that we don't have to let this end! Let's continue the friendships and reconnections that we have made and keep the togetherness going until the next reunion and not lose touch like we did before. I can't wait to do this again.

I want to ditto Willard and Barbara and say thanks to all that made this event the success that it was. We can't thank everybody enough. Now, I end this message with a challenge! There are still 200 missing classmates, we have at least 2 years , so let's make it our business to find them for the next reunion! I love you all and stay blessed.

So everyone please share your pictures because we need to find a historian to make a scrapbook so we can have it at the next reunion. Anybody Interesting? Yes, I am already thinking ahead to the next reunion(smile). Thanks Rodrick, Bubba Powell, and Donnie for adding your pictures. You did a good job!
