Married Barbara Sullivan (JHS '62) in 1966.

Have done ocean research for most of my career. Worked at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Inst. for 16 years, then moved to the Univ. of Washington, Seattle, joining the EE faculty, but spending full-time running the Applied Physics Laboratory doing grant and contract research mainly for the Navy, NSF, NIH, etc. I formally retired in 2006, but still do some consulting, mostly in DC, and mostly for the Navy.

Barbara was a Barnard math major, and wound up teaching high school for many years. She's now retired also.

Jamaica High School set me on a course for life. Our teachers were remarkable. Wonderful role models. My math teachers--Ms. Kampf (who became Mrs. Fishel), Mrs. Farber, Mrs. Tobias, Mr. Altwerger. My English teachers--Miss Rieg, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Rose, Mr. Silver, Miss Vaughn. I could go on. I remember every one of them, and am grateful that I had the opportunity to know them. I guess even Mr. Schucker was okay, but I'm not so sure about Dr. Hurwitz.

Co-capt of the Rifle Team. City Champs in 1961 (or was it 1960?, not that it matters). Tried out for the swimming team, but wasn't fast enough. An eternal disappointment. They had cheerleaders.

Was in a bunch of science clubs. I remember Mr. Gillory (bio), Mr. Feifer (chem), and I think Mr. Naison (phys).
