In Memory

Greg Jenkins - Class Of 1974

Gregory Wayne Jenkins, 69 years of age, passed away December 3, 2024, at the Whitesburg ARH, surrounded by his loving family. Greg was born on March 1, 1955, in Jenkins to the late Lester and Ruth (Harris) Jenkins.
Greg was a devoted husband to his wife of 48 years, Toni Jo (Fairchild) Jenkins. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
A hardworking man, Greg retired after many years as a dedicated coal miner, specializing as a drill operator. Greg was a strong Democrat and loved watching and talking politics. In his free time, he enjoyed tending to his chickens, cheering on his favorite teams-the Kentucky Wildcats and the Chicago Bears-and working on projects around the yard or in his building. However, Greg’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially when good food and laughter were involved. Known for his quick wit, and unforgettable laugh, Greg could brighten anyone’s day with a joke or a story.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Toni; their three sons, Gregory “Wayne” (Brandy) Jenkins of Conway, SC, Clayton (Rachel) Jenkins of Jenkins, Bradley (Jessica) Jenkins of Elkhorn. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, Clay, Austin, Kandis, Miracle, Travis, Angel, and Bradley Jr., and a great-grandfather to one great-grandson, River. He also leaves behind one sister, Mattie Anne Jenkins of Chicago, IL, as well as a host of extended family and friends who will deeply miss him.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Ruth Jenkins; his brother, Lester Jenkins Jr.
Greg’s life was a testament to love, hard work, and the simple joys of family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00PM at the Hall & Jones Funeral Home, Jenkins Chapel with Danny Hurst officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Whitesburg.
