Robert Kenneth (Poo) England, 85 of Pound, Virginia passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025.
Bob was born at home in 1939 in Jenkins, Kentucky to the late Walter and Evelyn England. His childhood was rife with stories of adventures and mischief with his brothers and sisters. He graduated from Jenkins High School in 1957 where he was a standout football star for an accomplished championship team. After high school, Bob spent several years serving our country in the U.S. Military and was involved in the Bay of Pigs crisis in Cuba. Upon returning home from the military, he met the love of his life, Judy, and started a family he was fiercely devoted to.
Bob was accomplished at several trades: construction, home building, logging, mining, and most recently contract engineering. He was a construction superintendent for most of Virginia’s new prisons, including Red Onion and Wallens Ridge State Prisons and the Southwest Regional Jail Authority, just to name a few. He was a staple around the prison system where he always had a fresh idea, a kind word for the employees, and a big smile for everyone he met.
In his free time, he could be found playing golf with his wife, kids and grandkids, and his regular golfing buddies. He was happiest being outside and spending time with people he loved the most. Bob was a 50-year member of Elkhorn Country Club/Raven Rock Golf Course, and he was most recently named an Honorary Member of Lonesome Pine Country Club, where he had been a member since 2017.
Bob is proceeded in death by his parents, Walter and Evelyn England; brother John Jack England, sisters Eva (Topsy) Wyatt, Linda Carnes, Iva Cable; and grandson Nick England.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Judy England; daughter Sandy (Jimmy) Crawford; sons Robert (Jennifer) England and Chris (Trish) England; brother Ernie England; grandkids Jade Akers, Daniel (Sophie) England, Aidan England, Sidney (Levi) Cress, Jack England; great-granddaughter Bella Niece, great-grandson Colt Cress, great-grandbaby England coming in June; a host of nephews and nieces, and special son Brad Branham.
