CARL E. WALLACE, Pound, Va. b. 25 Jan 1939 - d. 27 Mar 1985 Carl Eugene Wallace, 46, died Wednesday morning at Norton Community Hospital. He was employed as a school teacher at Jenkins Middle School, Jenkins, Ky., and was a member of the Kentucky and National Education Associations. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Joyce Childers Wallace; a son, Keith Wallace, Pound; a daughter Miss Tara Wallace, Pound; parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wallace, Dorton, Ky.; a sister, Mrs. Betty Boston, Oberlin, OH; two brothers, John Glenn Wallace, Dorton, Ky. and Edward Wallace, Kokomo, Ind. Memorial Services will be conducted at 11:00am, Saturday at Jenkins Middle School with the Rev. Richard Held officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 6782, Church Street Station, New York, NY 10249. Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise, is in charge of the arrangements. MR. Wallace was my teacher in home room in 7th and 8th grades, he was an absolute great teacher ,very patient and very outspoken one of the best teachers that Jenkins High School ever had. I remember his memorial service held in the gym, a lot of students as well as teachers was there. All that were in attendance at the sevice knew just what a great guy Mr. Wallace was.

I never had Mr. Wallace at Jenkins School, but he was my teacher in Pike County at Sycamore Grade School. And all the students liked him very much. He loved to talk about automobiles. I remember what he would say to a student that wanted to tell him a joke. He would say is it clean. If they said yes he would say, I don't want to hear it. If they said it was dirty, he would say I have already heard it. His way of saying I do not want to hear jokes.
