Lanna Wright (Dixon) - Class Of 1959 VIEW PROFILE

Lanna Gayle Dixon, age 70, of Jenkins, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday April 10, 2012, at her home. She was born at Jenkins, Kentucky,on October 5, 1941, and lived nearly all of her life in Jenkins. She was a mother and a homemaker, and taught school for thirty-three and a half years, mostly at the Letcher County Vocational School. She graduated from Jenkins High School in 1959 and went to college at Eastern Kentucky University and Morehead State University. Lanna was a member of the NEA, the KEA, and the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was a member of the Jenkins United Methodist Church since she was a child. She served as the church secretary for over forty years and participated in nearly any function that the church had. She loved being with and caring for her grandchildren, and she also loved to be in her kitchen cooking and baking.

   She was the daughter of the late Columbus Edgar Wright & Maxie Mullins Wright.

   Lanna is survived by her husband of almost forty-two years, Charles Dixon, Jenkins, Kentucky; a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick Shane Dixon & Lauren, of Henderson, Nevada; three grandchildren, Jacob, Andrew, and Dylon; and a host of other relatives and friends.

   Visitation was on Wednesday April 11, 2012, from 6-9 PM at the Polly & Craft Funeral Home Chapel, Jenkins, KY. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday April 12, 2012, at 11:00 AM at the Jenkins United Methodist Church, Jenkins, KY, with Rev. Larry Penix & Rev. Graham Abbott, officiating. Interment followed at the Bull Creek Cemetery, Blackey, Kentucky. Family members & friends served as pallbearers.
