I've been living as a "big city" girl since heading for Houston two days after my graduation in 1964. Texas was such an sprawling, busy place , besides being so hot and humid, it took adjustment but the people are friendly.

However, my heart has always held a special place for the mountains. Besides missing friends and family, missing the different seasons is something I've never gotten past :>). Here in Texas we have "hot" and "not quite as hot".

I will always be "Patsy", the girl who loved the fall leaves and the snow and the trees budding out in spring. A mountain girl never truly becomes a big city girl--not in her heart.

School Story:

I loved one tradition in particular that was reserved for us in our senior year . We all looked forward to the day that we were the seniors, the ones who filed into the auditorium last, so that we could be noted and honored as we took our reserved seats on the bleachers. While that probably sounds odd now, it was a privilege hard won since students earned their place as a senior through hard work. When the band played as we filed in, it made us feel we had achieved something very special.
