Gary Bruce Johnson, age 71, of McRoberts, Kentucky, passed away on Friday July 11, 2014 at his home.  He was born on August 16, 1942 at Dorton, Kentucky and lived most of his life in McRoberts, Kentucky.  He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Pikeville University.   Mr. Johnson possessed a strong passion for education and taught at McRoberts Elementary School for twenty-seven years.  He was a member of the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church. 

   He was a son of the late Harrison and Sylvia Oaks Johnson.

   Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Helen Johnson, of McRoberts, Kentucky; a daughter, Lori L. Holbrook (Kevin), of Parkers Lake, Kentucky; two sons, David Johnson (Gayla), of Wise, Virginia, and Scott Johnson (Andrea), of McRoberts, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Corey Holbrook and Andrew Holbrook; two step-grandchildren, Alyssa Sturgill and Darren Duty; two brothers, Fred Johnson, of Robinson Creek, Kentucky, and Ted Johnson, of Shelby Gap, Kentucky; a sister, Madelyn Davis, of Shelby Gap, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends. 

   Visitation will be held on Saturday July 12, 2014 after 6:00 PM at the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday July 13, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church, with Bill Craft officiating.  Interment will follow at the Green Acres Cemetery, Ermine, Kentucky.
