Reta Griffin (Shortt) - Class Of 1964 VIEW PROFILE

Mrs. Reta Sharon Short, age 64, of Neon, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 5, 2011 at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born in Jenkins, Kentucky on July 16, 1946 and lived nearly all her life in Letcher County. She was a mother and a homemaker. For several years, she did charitable work in her community, helping to provide food and clothing for the needy. Reta was of the Protestant faith.
She was a daughter of the late John and Susie Mullins Griffin, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Judy Hopkins; a brother, Bobby Joe Griffin; a granddaughter, Ashley Danielle Webb; and a son-in-law, Mike Webb.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Short of Neon; a daughter, Debra Ann Webb, Neon; three sons and daughters-in-law: Daniel F. Short, Jr. and Sandy of Neon, John Wesley Short and Carden, and David Brian Short and Tonya, all of Lexington, Kentucky; grandchildren: Brooke Webb, Brittany Webb, Jordan Short, Kiley Short, Aaron Wesley Short, Morgan Short, and Reese Short; two brothers: Paul Griffin and Phillip Griffin, both of Jenkins; a brother-in-law, James Hopkins; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Calling hours are from 6-10 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Carty Funeral Home in Neon. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Merv Sherlin officiating. Burial will follow at trie Haven of Rest Cemetery at Mayking. Carty Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements.
