Funeral services for Kelly Paul DeSimone, 84, of McRoberts, were held January 7, 2008 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Burial was in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens at Big Stone Gap, Va.

A son of the late Vincenzo and Anna DeSidora DeSimone, he was born at Burdine. He died January 5 at the Pikeville Medical Center.

DeSimone was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a retired employee of Beth Elkhorn Corporation. He received a bachelor's degree in chemistry and biology from Eastern Kentucky University. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, and was very involved with his community and served on various boards and committees.

Surviving are his wife, Billie DeSimone; two daughters, Paula Kavolus, Greenville, S.C., and Kelly Sturm, Crystal Lake, Ill.; two sons, Victor Paul DeSimone, Richmond, and Andrew Jamison DeSimone, Inman, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Grace Ann Reel, Pittsburgh, Penn.; and a brother, Joseph DeSimone, McRoberts.
